The beef was well marinated and surprisingly tender, and I love that it came with rice, mac salad, and vegetables for a well balanced meal. The Chicken Skewers were also a great value deal with it being only $2.50 each. The chicken marinade was spicier than I thought it would be, but it was a good combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavor profiles. Honestly for $2.50, the price can't really be beat. For those who want to try a bit of everything, I would recommend the BBQ mix that comes with BBQ Beef, Kalbi, and BBQ Chicken. The Kalbi was perfectly grilled and marinated, which honestly says a lot coming from a Korean person! The BBQ chicken was not as well marinated and a bit dry, but you have a variety of sauces available to enhance the flavors according to your preference. The Chicken Katsu was a great value meal that came with a lot of food as I literally needed a rubber band to close the lid of the box. Crazy Find! Found a Hawaiian spot in Buena Park, CA that got me in the door with $2 Grilled Chicken Skewers. With Aloha's teriyaki sauce, I'm in love and it's soooo good. But wait a minute, I ordered Aloha Hawaiian BBQ. The pricing fits into my budget !!! Portions alone, I felt it was double/triple meat compared to what I normally get . The menu offers classic Hawaiian meals from mini to large plates, as well as side dishes. From the $10 Meal menu, I ordered the Chicken Katsu, which came with macaroni salad and rice. The meal was freshly made, hot, and crispy. The portions of the katsu were generous for the price. I also ordered Spam Musubi for five bucks for two pieces. The Spam to rice ratio was a little off, with more rice than Spam, yet it was tasty and filling. The chicken skewer was juicy and tender, good flavors, but could have used a little more char on the outside. Fountain drinks are available and currently free with an order during the grand opening. The service was friendly and the dining area was clean and tidy. There are about five tables inside, but no patio seating. I've been a customer at the Anaheim location for years and started coming to this location since it's closer to home. First couple of times was fine, but the last couple of times the amount of food has decreased substantially that it's no longer a good value. I always get the mixed BBQ plate and noticed the price went up and the to-go container is smaller with half the amount of BBQ chicken and BBQ beef than it used to be. I don't mind the price hike, but to also reduce the portions by a substantial amount, is a no-go for me. Definitely can't recommend and will not be coming back. read more

Aloha is now my new Hawaiian bbq go-to in the LA area. This new Buena Park location is located in a strip mall with ample parking. Service is prompt and friendly. Incredibly generous portions for the price - what a great value meal. For just around $50, this was enough food for both dinner AND lunch the next day for two of us (the portions are so generous that $50 essentially bought us four meals between two hungry adults!). What we ordered: 1. The $10 spam musubi and chicken skewer plate (both delicious). By the way, the chicken skewers à la carte are amazingly priced, at only less than $2 a skewer. 2. Chicken katsu - perfectly breaded, flavorful, and love that Aloha seems to only use dark meat/thigh (no breast, and therefore far juicier). 3. Bbq meat plate - the beef, shortrib, and chicken were all perfectly grilled. And of course, we loved the classic sides consisting of Mac salad and rice. 4. Crispy shrimp - loved how crispy they were. The serving looks really good, but then you realize there's a whole head of cabbage underneath making it look like there's a lot. We ordered the chicken bbq, beef bbq and katsu plate. Katsu and beef bbq were good, but the chicken was on the dry side. We got there a little before 6pm, and although nobody was there when we got there, it took 35 mins to get our food. We should have ordered ahead of time, but waiting 35 minutes is way too long. As our food was ready (which we can see), the server/cashier kept taking orders as new customers came in. No sense of urgency, or able to multi-task. Service was mediocre. She was on her cell phone when there weren't any new customers to take orders for. I'm giving this place a 3 star as the food was good. Next time, will make sure to order ahead of time. read more

Not good! I hate leaving bad reviews and I usually give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but this place is just bad. Ordered 2 meals; 1) Teri Beef plate and 2) Teri Chicken Sticks bowl. The beef was tough and tasted like it was marinaded for days. Such a strong flavor that overwhelmed my taste buds and I couldn't enjoy my meal. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. I stumbled upon this place while scrolling through Instagram when I was starving and trying to figure out what I wanted to eat. Not sure if it was coincidence or if IG is now able to read my thoughts using my phone camera or something. But I'm sure they use our phones to listen in on our conversations which causes certain ads to come up on different social media platforms and other websites lol. I've tried other Hawaiian bbq spots around the area and are either pricey with small portions or pricey with mid quality and taste. Since I actually love Hawaiian bbq and it wasn't too far from where I live, decided to give this place a try. Especially since the IG advertised an option for online ordering. Their menu isn't too large but I do like the fact that they have the $10 meals which are essentially half orders (of choice of entree) but with the same amount of rice and Mac salad. I know other Hawaiian bbq places have mini meals but mini meals are going for $12-$13 bucks still . Being that this was my first time trying this place, I decided to go with the $10 katsu meal and chose the option of 2 scoops of Mac and 1 scoop of rice instead of the traditional 2 scoops of rice and 1 Mac. I also added an order of their spam masubi which was priced about the same at other places. I placed my order and it said it would be ready in 10-15 min. That was perfect timing since I still had to pick up food for my son as well. By the time I arrived to pick up my order, I was already 5 min past the 15 min mark. I asked for my order and was told it wasn't ready but would be out shortly. I took a seat and noticed two other parties waiting for their orders as well. Not sure what the hold up was but I ended up waiting another 10-15 min to get my order. Not sure how long they were already waiting but One of the parties a head of me received their order 5 min before I did. I finally received my order and was a little upset about the long wait, especially with my wife and son waiting impatiently in the car wanting to get home and eat already. My food essentially took 30 + minutes from the time I ordered it to be ready. But I finally got it back home and was actually impressed by the amount of food this $10 meal had. The scoops of rice and Mac salad where good sized scoops. The amount of chicken katsu was almost the same amount a regular order would be at other Hawaiian bbq locations I've been to. So I can only imagine how much more food their regular order would come with. All the food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The taste, quality and amount of food given for the price made up for the longer than estimated wait time. This first time experience was less than a week ago. Since then, I've already gone back 3 times lol and the last time was today. I literally just finished my meal right before jumping onto yelp to write up this review. So far I've only been ordering the $10 katsu plates and masubi and nothing else. I will be trying something different next time and it will most likely be their bbq chicken skewers. I was in the area and craving Masubi. Found this place and decided to try it...Boy, I was pleasantly surprised. The portions were huge and food was delicious. The pictures do not do the food justice. Portions so big , two people can easily eat off of one plate. I ordered the Masubi /Skewer plate and added aside of Macaroni salad. Cost about $15. Fast and Friendly service. My family and I wanted some Hawaiian BBQ and decided to stop by this place since it has the same name as the location we love on Brookhurst and Crescent. The customer service was great. The cashier was friendly and honest when I asked if they were the same business. He stated they had many locations but he was unsure if they were the same. Fair response. I still ordered despite hesitation. We ordered our food to go. We ordered bbq chicken and chicken katsu with all rice. The serving portions were generous. I definitely agree two people can eat one plate. I was not impressed with the flavor of the chicken katsu. It was falling apart and the breading tasted off. I noticed that a new Aloha Hawaiian BBQ recently opened in my neighborhood. I was excited to give it a try. I walked in last week to give it a try and was looking at the wall menu as I walked up to the counter to order. When I looked at the person who was working the counter she was holding and taking a bite of what looked like a skewer of some type. As I stood there watching her holding the stick and still eating right in front of me. I was shocked. I asked her "are you eating"? She said yes, why. I said I was shocked and said I thought it was terrible to eat and continue eating in front of a customer while she was about to take my order. She just smiled at me. I shook my head and said I will never come back and left. As I was leaving, she followed me to the other end of the counter and said something as I exited the door.
