    Steamed chicken & cabbage dumplings
    Angela K.

San dong is so darn good and well priced!! Their dumplings are an absolute staple. I've had their noodles before too, and the portion is huge and hearty. I love both steamed and pan fried dumplings, so I had to get both. Although if I had to choose one over the other, I'd pick the pan fried dumplings. It's $9.50 for 12 pan fried dumplings and $9.50 for 15 steamed dumplings. Can't beat those prices! It took almost 20 minutes for our order of dumplings to come out, but it was worth it cuz it was served hot and fresh. The chili oil on the side was a nice add on, and the soy sauce complemented the dumplings so well! We sat in the cafeteria, where there was plenty of seating. Even though the interaction with the employees is super quick, they are friendly and work efficiently.

Love that they opened up a San Dong location closer to me! It's in the food hall of Ranch99. I've gone here twice and the food is the same as the Bellaire location! Get the Chicken & Noodles, Beef Noodle Soup, and pan fried dumplings!

Whoa! It's been years since I've been to 99 Ranch, and was pleasantly surprised to see an outpost of San Dong here. San Dong in Chinatown has always been an oldie but goodie for me - still remember eating there back in the 90s! Even though the original owners have sold the business, the new owners have carried on their classic dishes, and have done good job of retaining what has made the original so popular. Great to see this expansion - has my favorites like their fried pork chive dumplings, as well as their dumplings boiled inside beef broth. After Xiong's Cafe has closed, I still find myself getting San Dong's beef noodle soup to satisfy my fix. This location is located in the food court, and they take credit card. Definitely will be stopping by again whenever I'm doing grocery shopping in the area!

This place is a go to especially if you are already making a trip to 99... you must stop by and order the dumplings. This time I got 2 orders - Steamed Dumplings- chicken & cabbage and pork and chive and an order of 4 chive buns. My favs never disappoint... pork and chive are packed with flavor. The chicken and cabbage were also tasty. I also enjoyed the chive bun crispy outside and chivey inside... a must try. Service is no nonsense... give your order so they can make your order. This is a shared food court area so there can be challenges on the weekend. It is family friendly. Come visit and enjoy.

I was buying a few things at Ranch 99 and got hungry for lunch. Mind you, it's hard to find pescatarian items in this food court. But I did manage to find vegetable dumplings at this place. Too bad they don't have steamed ones. These were pan fried. You get 12 for about $10. I received chopsticks but pretty sure they have plastic forks and knives somewhere. The place is credit or debit card only. I'd eat these dumplings again when I'm at Ranch 99.

Met friends for a quick bite after church service. I had the $8 bowl of wonton soup. The broth could have been de-greased better, but everything else was good! There was a nice amount of bok toy along with the simple, colorful extras that invite you to taste the textures. I was so happy to count eight huge wonton dumplings. On a chilly day, it was the perfect meal.

I'm going to sandong my own two feet and write this review as best I can. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Chinatown with delicious noodles and wonderful food. It's really very popular and very busy and good for people-watching as well. I can summarize this one quickly - basically delicious and somewhere that I go on a regular basis. One of the 20 fave restaurants in Chinatown for me.

First time going to the Ranch 99 location and it did not disappoint. I was in the area so I grabbed the bean sauce noodles to go. Big portion and cheap price - can't beat that! Tasted the same as the Chinatown location. They weren't busy at all and my food came out fast. Only negative was that the noodles were in a huge clump which made it hard to stir and mix around with the sauce/cucumbers (container was also a tight fit).

Pork Bao's are normally my daughter fave but the soup dumplings here are her favorite. She could finish an order on her own. The service is always great. As soon as you get in they give everyone a water and a carafe of more water. There is a QR code to order and you place your order on the phone. The order goes straight to the kitchen and you can add as you go if wanted. I always thought that was pretty cool. The owner came out to say hello and ask how everything is. She even brought out a small bowl of soup for my baby to enjoy. The waitress was also very sweet and attentive. I don't live close by but will make the trip when the craving hits. Today was one of those days. The last time I was here there was no ac and not enough seating. This time it was nice and cool in and well as having new seating! Wow! Just... wow…read more Loved this place from the moment I walked in! Ambiance was super fun and welcoming. The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
