I had their Reuben sandwich for lunch, which came with fries. While it tasted okay, it would have benefitted from at least another layer or two of beef, as the quantity of meat was skimpy. Also, I would have preferred it served on rye bread instead of bland marbled white. Service was mediocre. Food, fresh from the kitchen. We ordered omelets and they came with fresh ingredients and the omelets were the size I would make at home vs the thin large and stuffed omelettes I get at other places. I was actually able to finish my meal without being stuffed. My son ordered French toast with a Carmel sauce that was not sweet. It was so good! Interior is nothing to sing about, but they do have outdoor seating. Have been wanting to try Manny's for a long time. Finally had the opportunity to have breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Cynthia our server was fantastic. She made recommendations and they were perfect. The French Toast was fabulous with the homemade syrup almost like a brown butter taste. I like my eggs over medium and many places they never come out that way....this time they did!!! And the bacon was perfect. I really wanted to like Manny's, but overall it was an unremarkable experience. Cathy, our server, was excellent. She was friendly, courteous, happily volunteered information for us, and performed above-and-beyond gestures like gently laying out our receipt, opening our to-go box, and making friends with a small baby across the way. Major points for her service. The restaurant was brightly lit, making it more appropriate as a lunch stop than a date night. The TVs were inescapable, and the menu was disappointingly straightforward. My wife ordered the grilled salmon, which I sampled first. Served on a bed of fried potato cake, I was surprised by how bland it was. I tried to order the most unique item on their menu, the Alfred's Burger, but it was so bland that a subsequent bite of the salmon was delicious by comparison. The shoestring fries were plentiful, but mostly crunch with no flavor even after salting and dipping them in ketchup. I think I'd stick to enjoying them for breakfast. I decided on the chicken fried steak with chorizo and country gravy with a sub French toast. Let me start off by saying this is BEST FRENCH TOAST EVER HANDS DOWN! They were cute little tiny tings, but they were filled with flavor. French toast here is a must. The country fried steak did not disappoint. For the gravy I decided to do half chorizo and half country style and it was the perfect 1,2 punch! The only quarrel is the lack of variety for potato options, though I think they have mastered the art of perfectly crisp hash browns. Eggs were eggs. They didn't screw them up which is easy to do, they were fluffy and soft. Definitely could tell whom ever prepared the meal took there time, even the presentation was great for such a simple meal. My husband and I were looking for a good breakfast & brunch spot in the Tacoma area and wanted to try this place out. I love the location and will be looking forward to when this place reopens again for dine-in. We did take out and the owner was very friendly. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak since I read good things about it as well as Manny's Burger. We sat outside and waited about 10 minutes for our food and drove back home to eat. Everything was packaged neatly with care and I was happy to have some English muffins included with my chicken fried steak, complete with hashbrowns, two eggs, and an ample amount of sausage gravy on the side! Everything was amazing and my over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly (I'm very finicky with my fried eggs)! My daughter hand a hankering for French Toast at 5pm at night ‍... we were out running errands around the Tacoma area and searched French toast on Yelp and found this little gem. I highly recommend Manny's Place for a lovely dining experience and food that will 'wow' your senses. We ordered the French toast, Chorizo Spaghetti, Chicken Marsala, and Mahi Mahi Street Tacos! Me, my husband and two girls agree that we were served the best version of those dishes we've ever had. Spectacular food and kudos to the Chef... actually to the Chef. With 25% occupancy in place it's everybody's responsibility to eat and then get the heck out of the way. For amusement we found it really entertaining to watch the parallel parking attempts out on the street front. It's amazing how many swings or tries to take some people to get either in or out of a stall. We met with Brett the owner of the place that the restaurant is named after his pug Manny. Seems like a delightful guy and we really like this place and plan on coming back. I don't typically write about food but I have to tell you everything was excellent and the staff was super friendly. It is still a shame to see 25% occupancy and I wish this place nothing but the best. Single occupant restrooms (bathrooms are reserved for homes) are labeled "Whatever" which I found was rather amusing. read more

We (two of us) went to Manny's Place for breakfast today. I had looked forward to the outing all week. Our waitress was attentive. Although I requested fried eggs extra well done, they were still runny. Other than that, the food was good. We were drinking our second cup of coffee when the owner came to our table and asked us to leave in order to make room for people waiting. We had been there less than one hour. We obliged (mostly out of shock) and made our way to the door. I stopped to let the owner know I'd never been asked to leave a restaurant while I was still drinking my coffee. He was unapologetic and told us people were waiting to get in. Mind you, we had paid $60 (with tip) for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees. We left and will never return to a place that is run based on quantity and not quality. We love to support small businesses, but clearly this business does not need our support. read more

Went here for Mother's Day brunch which was so yummy ! They are rockstars here we got there pretty early and got on the wait list we only had to wait 15 min. We were seated immediately and our sweet server flew to us ! She was fun, and energetic! We got the menus and immediately ordered for the kiddos since they were fading and ordered our meal since we had looked at the menu prior . I think it took them 10 or less and the food had arrived ! It was amazing, fresh, and 100% correct. I can't say enough good things about Manny's. We live in the neighborhood, but have never been here. We thought it was another Proctor District beer bar. Come to find out it's a sister restaurant of Alfred's Cafe near the T-Dome. It's seat yourself and rather small. We got a table right away, but there was a wait the entire time we were there. It was a Saturday morning and it was busy. There is a small bar to help out while you wait. If you're familiar with Alfred's it shares a nearly identical menu, but in a classier, more detail-oriented fashion. Everything is just a little bit nicer- from the food presentation to the china and glassware. I believe breakfast and lunch are available all day. This works well for us since my wife often wants breakfast food when I would prefer lunch. The veggie omelette left nothing to be desired. The hash browns were nice and crisp, and the thick-sliced wheat toast is to die for. I'd buy it by the loaf if they sold it. The burger dip was also delicious, though the au jus was a bit on the timid side. The roll was another item I'd buy by the dozen if they sold them. I love the skinny fries for crispness, but they're a bit difficult to pick up without spilling fries on the table. The food arrived very quickly especially given that the place was full. The Blood Mary's came quick and were delicious. There's something in them that I can't place. Reminiscent of Old Bay seasoning. It may have just been the season salt that they use on the rims. It's was delicious. I'm not a salt fan, and I ate all the salt off my glass. Definitely a top-three Bloody Mary in all of Tacoma. Lastly, the service was superb! Courteous and quick. Our server, Cathy, appeared to be the only server for the entire restaurant and she killed it. And smiled the entire time. There were some people- perhaps owners- assisting with food running who were also excellent. Waters always filled, follow-up to see if we needed anything, etc. I could not expect better service even in a higher-end restaurant. That said, please eat somewhere else. Anywhere else! I don't want to wait for a table on the many times we will be returning in the future. ;-) read more

Good breakfast spot with very good service, diverse menu, and tasty food. It's a good spot for both families and for people looking to watch sports as there are a few TVs and a bar. My friend and I split the burrito and the California omelette. Both were good but not mind blowing, and the portions were kind of small (although I feel I'm so used to being uncomfortably full that when I'm not I feel I didn't have enough food). I sampled our other friend's chicken fried steak and it was REALLLLLLY good. The chorizo sausage crazy was delicious. Pricing was pretty standard. I love eating here. I like best the two round tables that are tucked into the half rounded windows. It is my favorite nook to sit. They have amazing biscuits and gravy with huge cups of delicious Valhalla coffee. The bacon is tasty as well. I've had a few dishes, and they serve some fresh fruit with is always so yummy, I especially love when they have watermelon. I love the way they have the bathroom area set up with pictures of a pug that I would assume belonged to the owner with signs stating that don't care what you are, just wash your hands!
