This evening my friend and I decided to go eat here after getting our nails done across the street. In the main dining room there were roaches crawling up the walls. After two full booths of people fled, and the flying roaches began to come toward our booth, sitting there with plates full of food, I asked the three young waiters where their Manager was? They pointed to the back of the restaurant, where I walked to, he was sitting there with his leg crossed all relaxed talking to two other men. I asked him if he knew about the roaches. Long story short, Alex, the Manager, went ballastic and told my friend that "she disrespected me by coming to the back of the restaurant and interrupted my conversation." Needless to say, I am NEVER going back to any place named MANNYS, and the Health Department and Dallas Code Compliance need to know about this place. JUST UNBELIEVABLE. read more

Very cool and casual place to spend any day of the week at. The Queso is a must and so is their patio. I used to be obsessed with their Brisket and Cowboy Chicken tacos but after visiting other local Tex Mex restaurants realized they are a bit over priced for the quality. The spike in price I'm sure is due to popularity and kudos to that! I've since explored other menu options and am working my way they the list. They could use a little more flavor in the chicken they use for their flautas, but it's nothing to stop me from coming back. The staff here is very friendly as you always get greeted by at least 3 employees right away. They are very attentive and the atmosphere itself is fun. Went for a late afternoon lunch (or is it early dinner?) on 12/26. Most of the restaurant was empty, but to be expected. We were greeted promptly and seated. Our waitress arrived and hurriedly got our drink orders and food orders, which came out blazingly (almost TOO) fast. We hadn't even gotten our drink orders (a water and a beer). The meal was very ample in its portion size - mine required two plates, but the dishes themselves were tried and true Tex/Mex staples I've seen for most of my 50 years. Nothing terribly interesting in the ingredients or menu creativity, just the basics. Totally solid TexMex. Good chips and salsa. Good tea and margaritas. Fun atmosphere. But when we visited on Christmas Eve and ordered chicken flautas for appetizers, they never came. Once our entrees arrived, we asked about them and the waitress apologized and put the order in, bringing them out mid-meal. She brought beef flautas. Strike two. Then when I ripped into my cheese tacos, I got a mouthful of raw onion and carne sauce. So they brought me cheese enchiladas. Pretty frustrating to have not one or two screw ups, hey mistakes happen, but three was irritating. Again, the food is great, just my individual experience was really frustrating. read more

Bland is the operative word here; I had guacamole that had very little flavor contrast between the avocados and other ingredients and flautas where I could barely discern the taste of brisket from its fried tortilla blanket; the house margaritas are also watered down and thin but the salsa is a definite bright spot. We also went during dinner service and were ignored for our entire dinner after the food was delivered; not once did a water come and check on us. In fact, I had to get up and go find him to get the check. I realize they're maybe understaffed since they're new, but at least check on us once and/or apologize. First and last time here. Everything tasted the same- like cardboard. There was no taste or spices to anything. I mean, how can Mexican be so bland that EVERYTHING tastes the same? Manny's has some of the best authentic Mexican food in Dallas! It always tastes fresh and flavorful. This location (Lakewood) is cozy without being cramped, and the decor is cute, colorful, and very "artsy." We've come to this location at least a dozen times, and have never been disappointed. We used to love Manny's on McKinney so we thought we would give it a try at the Lakewood location. Very disappointed. They sat us right in front of the bathroom and when we asked to move tables, the waiter was very rude to us and said no other table was available when clearly there were 3 open tables. We sat and looked at the menu for 15 minutes and the waiter never brought us water or chips or came to take our order and the table seated after us had been served already. Had a late lunch at Manny's Lakewood location today. Ordered the Tacos al Carbon. In the meal description it referenced the rib-eye steak as the meat ingredient. The meat served in the taco was not rib-eye. It was over-cooked and look like round steak, cut in one inch length pieces. Contained a lot of gristle and fat from the round steak. One of the worst Tacos al Carbon that I have had. The sides that came with the taco dinner were good, rice, guacamole, and cup of beans. Service was slow. Decor was nice. Salsa served was very good, had some heat which I like. My date had the tamale dinner and she said they were very good. read more

My wife and I come here a lot more due to the fact that it's close than the fact that we "love" it. However, there are some real winners on the menu. Their beef tacos and sunset fajitas are all great and they have a decent brunch / early weekend menu as well. This place isn't going to be on a "best of" list anytime soon, but for the price and convenience it's a great alternative to some of the more expensive or higher maintenance places nearby. read more

I struggled to give Manny's Lakewood 2-stars. The food, for the most part, was just awful. As though we ate two day old enchiladas. They were dry, the food was not hot, and the chili sauce looked as though it had been on there a while. One person in our party was served their salad with no dressing. And then, someone apparently asked for the TV volume to be turned up at which point we could no longer even talk to one another. I tried this place on Tuesday for the first time. I've never eaten at the other Manny's in Uptown. The salsa was solid and flavorful. I ordered the lunch special #5. It came with one cheese enchilada, one soft cheese taco, rice, and beans. The enchiladas were nicely seasoned and plenty of cheese made this dish tasty. The rice and refried beans were cooked on par with most standard Tex-Mex restaurants. The prices were average for a lunch meal at $7.75. The wait staff and service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating, as well as, a spacious covered patio equipped with heaters for chilly weather and ample seating. I will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes such as veggie quesadillas and shrimp tacos. read more

My shrimp enchiladas looked good and were well-prepared in terms of temperature and how it all looked on my plate. But beyond that, they were incredibly bland with very little taste. The refried beans were okay but almost too thin to eat with a fork. Our waiter wasn't much better; not rude, but nor did he go out of his way to make sure that our evening was unforgettable. We were refugees from the smothering crush of Sunday morning brunch at Dream Café, exiting the parking lot, and saw that Manny's was open. The salsa was particularly delicious. My wife said their coffee was "good enough" (you could always saunter over to the walk-up window at White Rock Coffee). I had the Enchiladas Estefana, which was chicken enchiladas with sunset sauce and two eggs over easy. That was great! Wife had huevos rancheros and seemed pleased enough. Reported the guacamole to be a bit bland. Service was good and friendly, a tad bit disorganized, perhaps to be expected of a new place. But we'll definitely be back. read more

I took my family to Manny's on Sunday night. I had the fajitas and they were very good. The tortillas are a little thin, but everything else was great. When I mentioned that my margarita was very tart, they replaced it with another one without hesitation. They really seemed to care that I enjoyed the food and experience. This place is colorful, has good Mexican music and has a nice patio. They opened about two or three weeks ago and I have already been there three times. There cheese enchiladas with chili con carne are awesome!! They bean soup is also great and well as their queso.
