Nice find for Thai food! Their menu offers deals for lunch combos of traditional cornerstones and more Americanized plates. I came with my family just before their 1 hour closedown for the staff lunch but luckily was able to sit in for a meal. It's a smaller restaurant but can seat up to maybe 30 people at a time. The staff is very attentive and helpful. After ordering we only waited for maybe 10/15 minutes before the food made its way out. The Thai tea is delicious and served in a large cup. I remember the plates being a good portion and rich umami!! Very filling and savory. I enjoyed the ingredients and was certainly satisfied with the flavor. I've been trying Thai spots around town and no one can compete or compare to Manola's. Their Thai basil fried rice is top tier, spice level 1 is my go to just because I usually mix it with the Drunken Noodle with spice level 1. Me and my man usually share the two places with an appetizer and usually can get four meals out of the two plates. It's a great deal and I hope they never change. THE BEST. Prices and services are on point. I'd consider this a hidden gem, but they've also received a lot of recognition in the SA newspapers from what I see on the wall in the restaurant. I'd think they'd be POPPIN' by now BUT it's great to see they have a consistent customer base and it's never too busy. Bring your friends, bring your family. I never want this spot to leave. We used to really enjoy eating at this restaurant and have been loyal customers for a long time, but unfortunately after our last experience, we will not be returning. The visit started off poorly due to very slow customer service. We repeatedly had to get up and go to the counter ourselves just to ask for water because no one ever came to our table. We also had to return to the counter again after realizing they forgot part of my daughter's order, instead of the staff checking on us or correcting the mistake promptly. The worst part of the experience was finding a hair in our food. We calmly brought it to the owner's attention, expecting the situation to be handled professionally. Instead, the owner took the food to the back, removed the hair, and then came back accusing us of lying about it. Rather than apologizing or trying to make things right, we were treated disrespectfully and made to feel uncomfortable. It's disappointing because we genuinely liked this place and wanted to continue supporting it, but the way the situation was handled was unacceptable. I went during lunch with a colleague. We weee promptly seated without any wait time. There was one other booth taken and while there 2 more tables were seated. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. The food was fine. Nothing stellar or something memorable. I had the beef red curry while my colleague had chicken red curry. On the advice of the waitress we both asked for level 1. It was just a small restaurant with old seating and very little decorations which would mean they focus on the quality of their dishes. As a Californian, I am aware I won't be able to find super authentic Asian cuisine out here BUT the pad Thai here was very good and I would only come back for the pad Thai. I like my pad Thai a bit more saucy and it's exactly that. However, I ordered pad see ew kinda expecting it to have that smoky stir fry taste that I'm used to but it was super dark and saucy. Very different from how it's prepared in other Thai restaurants I've visited. It was very savory and flavorful sauce but I miss the smoky wok stir fried fat wide noodles I was hoping for. The seeet sticky rice with Mango was good but they put it in a to go container that makes it difficult to eat. Small spot in a diverse little shopping center right outside of 410 off Blanco. Came here off of Yelp reviews & it's not too far from my house either. The parking lot was full! Maybe from the Irish pub next door? I had to double park while I got off for pickup. There was one table of 3 inside. My order was ready. Asked if my soy sauce was in the bag? Gave me Thai iced tea. It was good. Ordered a pad Thai at a spice level 3 and it was HOT! Noodle unfortunately were too soggy. I wanted to like it, but over cooked noodles never make for a good dish. Also got cheese rolls and egg rolls. I didn't know what to expect from either. Cheese rolls said crab meat in description but I saw no trace of that. It was served with what they call "upper sauce". Looked and tasted like Mayo with hot sauce? I don't think it quite went with cheese rolls. Egg roll was thin wit a little filling inside. Seemed like chicken, but I selected pork, so, likely that? Came with a vinegar and something sauce..? Idk what it was. Ha! Everything was just ok. I might give it another shot another time. They are open until after 9pm, which most places aren't. read more

First time visiting this establishment and I will be back. Ordered the Pad Se Ew Weber and spicy 2 out of 4. The pad se ew is along the best I've had in San Antonio. It has a slightly different flavor profile than what I have experienced before with this dish and I loved it, the only downside (very very minor) to other comparable restaurants is the portion is slightly less but the price also reflects that by being a few dollars cheaper. I recently got to try this place out for an employee appreciation lunch provided by my manager. I was looking forward to trying a different Thai restaurant here in town. For starters, the fresh rolls. The rolls were huge and I enjoyed the peanut sauce they came with. For the main course, I tried the Manola's Curry. This curry was different than other curry I've tried around town. It was pretty good, but lacking in spice. Even after after requesting level 4 out of 5. Nevertheless, it worked. The curry also came with a bowl of hot and sour soup. The soup was also good. The service was great considering there were nine of us. I thought this place was decent but I wasn't blown away. Pad Thai was very different: much too red, much to saucy to be a great standard. The portion was also much smaller than other places in town. The fried tofu appetizer was bland and lacked substance and flair. The mango sticky rice was delicious and faithful to this standard. However the portion was small if you're sharing with your sweetheart. The plating was unimaginative and prices were above average. The decorated vibe was ok, nothing was wrong, yet nothing was exceptional. The bathroom was clean and tidy, kudos. Service was friendly but a tad slow. How does the movie go, " Same ,same, different, different"? I was referred to Manola's and found they're under new management, so the time was perfect to come in with a clean slate. Have to be honest, I never went to Manola's under the previous management. I should have, considering I love Thai and Vietnamese cooking. Although now, the new management says it's just Thai, with a few old Vietnamese favs still on the menu, albeit with a slight twist. The first thing I noticed was quality carry out containers with extra foil layering to prevent spills on the way home, unfortunately it didn't make it that far because it smelled so good I had to crack them open right there in the car. Now whenever I go to Thai place I get a few of the same thing as a control; Pad Thai, Tom Ka Gai (if they have it), and usually an appetizer, in this case, fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were the small lumpia like egg rolls and they were fat and crunchy. Spot on with their light dipping sauce ( a sweet and sour variation on Nguac Cham). The Tom Ka Gai ( Chicken coconut soup) was rustic and homemade. A perfect blend of lemongrass, citrus and coconut. I've had Pad Thai at Thai temples, Thai homes, restaurants all over town, in little Thailand in LA, and I think I found a new fav. Their pad Thai was perfect! Saucy, not too dry. Filled with protein (9 shrimps!). Perfectly balanced tamarind, peanuts, and onion. Liked it so much went back the next day! Day 2 was a Sat night so the parking lot was a little full with the Irish pub next door. They need to fill their bellies at Manolas before banging back some Guinness. My second trip i went nuts and wanted to try a few things. Again none of which made it home, all devoured in my car, so excuse me for the lack of photos. Beef Kra Pao with rice ( warm spiced, tender beef in a homemade sauce, of Thai basil) Summer rolls ( fresh soft rice skin rolls filled with rice noodles, Thai basil, and fresh greens perfect with their thick peanut sauce) Manola noodle bowl ( a Vietnamese bun/noodle bowl with a Thai twist) same,same but different,different. Lastly we had to get more of that Tom Ka Gai, chicken coconut soup. The owner was so cool she made some fresh and sent me with the whole thing. This place grasps the Thai concept of hospitality. It was like visiting ur Thai auntie who just wants to cook for and is so happy when you genuinely like it. The service always came with a smile and then some. A homemade taste and feel, perfect for a quick lunch ( same great food on special) or a casual night with loved ones.
