More of a 2.5 star review than 3 star review. Went there for a beer 08-21-15. Can't recall the beer specifically, but it was a rye based lager or ale. Interesting when sampled, but tasted flat and too pungent when it warmed up. Decided to try something different; usually I head for the IPAs. Their beer menu is largely IPAs, so they may be great with that style. A good, local pub who is brewing their own beer and offering a down to earth place to grab a pint and get some eats. Caters to local crowd, a nice break from mall or corporate restaurants. Plenty of outdoor seating and even some games for kids. Would go back if friends were heading there, but would go somewhere else if I was picking. Or, I should head back, try a couple of IPAs, then reconsider! read more

I am in town each Wednesday night and it's hard finding reasons to not come here each time. Great beer, although they seem to be limited of their own sometimes, that of of course is a sign of how good it is. Friendly staff, great outdoor area, amazing beer! read more

I drove 30 miles, one way, to go taste their beer. Their website posted their hours as opening at 12:00. When I got there the paper in the window stated that they open at 12:00. It was 12:30 and they were not open. I called their number and a lady answered and told me that they were on their winter hours and they didn't open until 2:00. Basically, if you change your hours you should make sure it's posted on your website. What a crappy way to run a business! I can only wonder if their beer brewing abilities equal their business abilities. read more

Staying here for a golf trip and walked here because it's close to the hotel. Had a great time. Tried a few beers and they were great. We settled on Bag of Bones as our favorite. Good beer and good times. read more

This is my go-to pub for any night of the week. The live music is always enjoyable, and the beer is fantastic. As a home brewer, I get tired of over-hopped "craft beers" found at bigger pubs and bars. Mike and Desha make their own on the premises, and it is always creative and delicious. They have beers, ciders and meads - always something new to try for the adventurous. This is a local bar for friendly people, but try another place if you're looking to hook up and get crazy. If you want friendly staff, good food, great drinks and an enjoyable evening, this is the place for you. A great atmosphere and DELISH beers! Apocalyptic was our favorite by far. Pizza (the one with bacon and red onions) was good, and sitting out on their back patio, listening to music and chatting with friendly patrons and staff just can't be beat. Very fun place to be. read more

I really wish I could give this place full stars but to me, the beer was sup par. It tastes as though all of their beers have a slightly sour taste to them. Almost like they don't have a separate system for their sours? Really not sure what's going on there.. Aside from that the staff was very nice and made us feel right at home. We ordered a flight which came on an ingenious little chalkboard. We sat outside where we saw cornhole and giant jenga, as well as a sweet dog running around. There are also outdoor heaters and a brick pizza oven! I definitely want to try their food next time I come in because it looked delicious! Even though the beer wasn't exciting I will be returning because of the awesome service.. And for some of that pizza! read more

The new menu at Manrock has so many yummy options it was hard to choose what I wanted to eat with my 27 oz. Apocalyptic beer. I decided on the nachos, and they did not disappoint. The heaping mound of chips, cheese, beans, salsa, and guacamole was so large I had no choice but to split them with my boyfriend. The best place to go for amazing beer, food and company! Wonderful staff and owners. Some of the best beer I have ever had....the pizza from the wood fired stove is excellent! The nachos are piled high and a great deal. Lots of indoor and outdoor activities and specials almost every night of the week. Plus live music on the outdoor stage. This is a terrific microbrew that is family owned. You can't get any more local than this. There are always a wide selection of Brews from which to choose and they are always willing to give you a sample of the newest production. Wednesday night Burger night comet is our favorite. It is dog friendly and most likely a family member will be waiting on you which makes for great customer service. We've always loved their beers. Yummy stuff. read more

So this was my third time to Manrock, cool atmosphere and I've enjoyed the ambiance in the past. Their beer too me has always been what I would call decent...at best. Not bad, but just meh. Went there this evening and asked about their two IPA's available, they had one at 6%abv and one at 7. I asked the girl about them and she stated the 6% one was worth it, it was an experimental Hop and was light and not very bitter. Not once did she offer me to try either which was off to me. Anyways, I decided to go with that. Don't remember the name. Well I grab my beer and head out to the patio, first sip and.....YUCK!! Twangy, funky rotten fruity taste fills my mouth. Really?? This is an ipa? I'd compare it more to a gross farmhouse Saiaon. Tasted like the beer got to warm during fermentation and put off all these off flavors. I went in to tell the girl that I did not like the beer and she stated that it's state law and she can't refund me for the beer. I explain that I simply would like another beer. Nope, sorry you will have to pay! What? State law? Did not drink, let my wife finish her overly sweet blonde and left. Anyways, I will never be back. I know their IPAs have a strong malt presence and that's all good, but this beer was funky nasty and not getting a replacement was the last straw. Sorry, can't recommend this place or their cloudy funky home brew too anyone. read more

If you read that review by "JD" just disregard. He is trying to promote the other company by bad mouthing the competition. Manrock is the best place to go in my opinion. They had very humble beginnings. Their first place was a little hole in the wall behind the Chinese restaurant on Oak Park in AG. They didn't have "food". Just snacks. The place was always packed. Especially during football season. There were a lot of times that it was standing room only. Mike and Desha have put a lot of energy into their business and have moved it forward dramatically. Hence the place they are at now. I am not friends with them, just an acquaintance. I'm not even a regular. But when I do feel like going out, it's to Manrock. This in itself is a big thing. I suffer from social anxiety disorder. I am very comfortable at Manrock. Even with the large crowds, which is normal at Manrock. I do not want to go anywhere else. My girlfriend usually gets the blonde and I get the Apocalyptic. It's awesome stuff. Manrock is an awesome place. read more

Looked like an awesome place for a bar. Cool corn hole set up, cool bar set up. But we go in with our dogs and there's a service dog that is just off the leash, the menu makes no sense, no one gave us any guidance on how the menu works or what food was available. Just told us this is what we have. Here's the thing great idea for a bar, great set up, but the business part is FAILING. A new local place like this needs to have a person explaining what to do. read more

Last time I was in there I was not impressed with the house beers and ended up having a guest tap. The service was horrible and if not for the date I was with who wanted to try the beer I would have left after having to set and wait for the young lazy female who wanted to do nothing but talk instead of doing her job. I wanted to love this place.....but, I so didn't. In fairness, if all I wanted were to hang out on the patio, get buzzed, and perhaps order food only after being sufficiently inebriated I may have had a different opinion, as it could be a fun place. As it was, I wanted beer and food, and therein lies my mistake. My brain was conjuring memories of great micro-brewery restaurants, and this was not thatI don't know how many beers the previous reviewer had, but the pizza was nowhere near New York pizza and more closely resembled a pizza you'd find on the five dollar kids menu. Unfortunately our burger arrived way after the beer and the pizza and the patience were gone, as well as after twenty rounds of beanbag toss - which was another mistake, as the beanbags were so filthy our hands were literally black after that. I love everytime I head over to Manrock! The atmosphere is killer, with great staff and an awesome area out back or inside to hang out. From Sunday morning football to a lazy afternoon, Manrock is a great place to relax with a nice cold beer. Absolutely horrible service. Waited 30 minutes for me and my friend to get service. I ordered tacos (taco Tuesday) and he ordered a pizza. After 45 minutes my tacos came. I waited until my friend was served to eat. After an hour, seeing 4 pizzas going to another table my husband walked up to the counter and asked about my friends pizza and was told, it's made I just need to cook it. Mind you the same person that commented she needed to cook the pizza was out cleaning tables. But that's ok we'll just sit here and wait longer (no it wasn't that busy). After an hour and a half of waiting to order and ask about where my friends pizza is, mind you my tacos are cold and hard now, he finally got his pizza. I wrote a review on Manrock's fb page which was taken off and received an inbox message with extremely smartass remarks. My fb shows I live out of the Pismo Beach area just because I haven't changed it in years. I live very close to Manrock. Guess they don't care about the service they give to visitors (non local customers) or what visitors think. My local friends and out of town friends and family will not be eating at this establishment anymore. Absolutely horrible service and rude comments they gave back to a customer. Absolutely ZERO stars should be given. read more
