I don't eat a lot of seafood, so I can't say much on how the rolls, nigiri, sashimi, etc. are here, but it gets really crowded here so it seems quite popular. FOOD: I normally just order the chicken bento, comes with your choice of spicy tuna rolls or California rolls and mixed tempura (sweet potatoes, broccoli, shrimp, and the like) with a side salad and rice. The bento during lunch is only $6.99, which I find is a great deal for what you get. The bentos are always delicious and the tempura cooked to perfection of golden coat on the outside, slightly crispy but tender vegetables in the center. The chicken is also very juicy drizzled lightly of sauce. SERVICE: The owner or someone is always so friendly here, and the waiters are always taking away unnecessary plates to make more room for the customers. They also provide water and tea in good intervals so our cups are always filled. :) ATMOSPHERE: I love how clean this place is all the time. I don't have to peer at the table and chairs to see strange stains and such. Whew! One bullet dodged! ;) It seems night time they get full house with a long lines too, so I suggest getting there earlier to snag a table! Also, they have side parking on the streets, but those are always full. But there's another small lot on the side of the workout/dental place. I come here every chance I get. Their sashimi is very fresh and really inexpensive for the great quality. Sashimi salad and Mansun Lunch Special are definitely life hacks worth trying. They also have a secret dish called the "uni bowl" which is not on their menu but definitely worth it if you like uni. They give you a sea urchin that's so fresh it's still moving when it's in your bowl, and it's filled with sushi rice, seaweed, tako, and some other sea vegetables. I don't really know what else to say other than this place is amazing. Has complimentary side dishes in the beginning and delicious green tea ice cream at the end. And their service is stellar. Unfortunately they don't have that large of a parking lot (like 6 spaces total?) but there's street parking so it's not a big deal. If you order takeout they also give you miso soup. :) read more

I've been here 3 times since I started my new job. It's been a great addition to my new life; how could I have ever lived without this place (although I can never remember the name)? The portion size is humongous. For $6.99, you get enough to feed a sumo wrestler. The lunch special includes so much - meat, rolls, soup, salad, rice, side dishes, and ice cream. I love the Sea Urchin Bowl. That said, last time I went, it was a little too light on the Uni and too heavy on the rice! The Hamachi and Salmon were also really good. I wasn't too impressed with the Albacore, and the Unagi tasted horrible. It tasted like the packaged precooked type that you buy from the freezer section at the asian grocery stores. I sent it back. On the more positive side - I love their banchan. Their miso soup is always tasty. The Hamachi was very good, since that is my favorite, they get 4 stars!!! Salmon is another fish that can taste very fishy if not fresh or farm raised. This salmon, although possibly farm raised, tasted great. I know you can tell by the super fake looking color or by the thickness of the fat striations in the flesh. The look test appears to pass, but the taste test definitely did. My friends got the bento boxes. As it is korean owned there was banchan (side dishes) provided before they got their actual dinner. They got at least 5 - beansprouts, broccoli, marinated mushrooms and potato salad. The actual boxes had mixed tempura, meat - choice between chicken or beef, a california roll or spicy tuna roll, rice and miso soup. There was nothing amazing about this but I would recommend getting this as a lunch special if you are in the area and just want a quick bite. The uni bowl was not as amazing as I had expected after reading many of the reviews. I like uni but the bowl I got didn't taste very fresh and I think it was filled with too much nori salad and pickled radish to make the bowl seem more filling. They do offer a complimentary scoop of vanilla ice cream after your meal. Too bad no green tea. Street parking but there is plenty of it. read more

This is by far one of my favorite sushi restaurants to dine at. The restaurant outside seems a bit small, but inside there is actually plenty of seating. The restaurant is also very clean and gives off a Japanese/Korean ambience. The quality and taste of the food here is phenomenal. The chefs here really care about the presentation of the food and you can tell the amount of attention to detail they put in by the artwork they present. I suggest you get the sashimi and be prepared to taste some amazing, tender and juicy sea food. With every bite you can just feel the sashimi melt in your mouth. I also highly recommend the uni bowl, it has some rice and garnishes inside the sea urchin making it look and taste fantastic! The service here is on point! My server always made sure my water was topped off and always came back checking on our table to make sure everything tasted fine. My GF brought me here for dinner on Saturday and she was super excited because she really likes this place. Perhaps I should've told her I wasn't that hungry before we ordered because she ended up ordering the Medium combo which was way too much food. When we asked the lady if the Medium was too much food for two, she said it wasn't that much more than the small and that she would recommend we stick with the Medium combo. Anyways, my gf and I both don't like uni so we requested some extra sashimi instead of the uni bowls and there was really no way of us knowing if we got extra sashimi or if we got the normal amount they give for that combo. Sashimi came out and it was a decent size. Salmon tasted fine, but one of the fish, maybe yellowtail (?) tasted a bit funky. Perhaps those stories about all fish in California being radioactive are true... lol Then we got about 7-8 different small/side dishes. 1 with some grilled fish, and the rest were raw/sashimi style. Out of all of them, I didn't really enjoy any of them. This is not necessarily the restaurants fault as I'm just not a big fan of this type of sashimi. One complaint though is that I had no idea what each item was. They just dropped it off without telling us what it was. Finally, at the end of the meal we got the Spicy seafood soup which apparently isn't normally included with the "medium" combo. However, because it was "special" for us, it took quite a long time. I guess they forgot to make it in the kitchen. It tasted fine but took too long after we finished eating. Service was fine. It's a family run restaurant so the staff are all sons/nephews/aunts/uncles/parents... If I came back here, I would probably stick to the regular sushi/sashimi and rolls instead of the combo. The foood here was pretty good but the restaurant is hellllllaaa koreanized though so don't come expecting super Japanese food. We even got banchan with our food LOL. I got the raw fish with rice which honestly felt more like a salad with bits of raw fish and a bowl of rice. The sauce that came with my food tasted a lot like a more liquid-y gochujang and it wasn't spicy... it was still tasty though. The green mussels were average and the scallops were kinda hard to eat since they were shredded and pressed flat on an aluminum foil sheet. The rolls were okay but options are kind of limited. Oh, but the highlight of the meal was eating the rice inside the sea urchin!! It was really tasty and the presentation was cute, although I feel that there could've been more urchin in the rice. This place is not bad. They serve you a good amount for the money you pay. The sashimi was good as usual (like most sushi restaurants). I got a dinner bento box which consisted of salmon, spicy tuna roll, lots of tempura, rice, and salad. The salad was GREAT, if i could order enough to fill me up, I'd do it...I just love that dressing. Salmon was average, I could've fried the same thing at home. There was a good amount of spice in the spicy tuna roll. Either I was just craving tempura or the tempura was just good. I enjoyed dipping it in the sweet soy sauce. Rice was alright too. Oh, and they serve a lot of those mini korean appetizer dishes and you can request for second if you want more. I thought all of them tasted excellent as compared to the ones i ate at koraen bbq restaurants. For dessert, we all got green tea ice cream. It was just average ice cream consisting of mostly sugar and little actual green tea taste. But hey, ice cream is wonderful for dessert, I'm not complaining. The service was above average. I love how the korean waitress bows while saying thank you as you are leaving. But I do feel that you'd get even better customer service if you actually spoke korean. Note: when you go into a sushi place and it smells like fish inside----run. I should have taken my own advice. I had a sushi roll and a sashimi salad. The fish was very rubbery and without any flavor. That's not good. I didn't get sick but I highly question the freshness and quality of the fish used. Regarding that salad: the sashimi should be the star of the show but instead it was buried in a sea of sliced ginger. A little bit of ginger would have been fine but this was way too much. That makes me suspect the fish even more when they do stuff like that. Now the service and the plating was impeccable. The server would have stood on top of her head if that would have made me happy. All in all this is still a big skip for me due to the fact that there are plenty other sushi places nearby that are either just as good or better. I am a big fan of Man Sun! I recommended a lot of my friends to come try and it haven't really disappoint them. Of course, there are always wayyy better quality, but for the price, it's GOOOD! I didn't give this place a 5 star because last 2 times I came, the uni rice had shrink.. and once, my uni was BITTER. like black BITTER. but they were nice enough to exchange it for me. it's seafood, so I am not going to count this against them We usually order the large sashimi, and it will fill up 3-4 people. it comes with a lot of side dishes ( AWESOME) , uni rice and lobster soup at the end. Sashimi grade is not top-tier and some of the sashimi tastes fishy. Charged extra money for ginger without notifying us. Pretty stingy with their portion sizes and didn't bring us everything that was supposed to come with our combo. It is going to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in East LA. Although it is about $35-50 per person, the food and the quality makes it worth and actually pretty damn cheap. Paying only $100 (which is they said is a 3 people serving size), you get live lobster, tons of sashimi, and uni. And many Korean style small dishes. They all come in good quality and good portion. It is hard to find someone complaining the quantity and quality of food even we are paying more than average dinner price. Service is okay, and I think they are way short staffed. We always have to wait for minutes getting attention from the waiters in a small restaurant. If you plan for a visit, go before 6pm or after 9pm on Friday and Saturday night. Otherwise, expect to wait for at least an hour. I give a 5 stars on the food and price, but 1 star deduction because of the wait time and short staffed services. read more

My GF and I came here for the $100 live Lobster, Unibowl with sashimi dinner. The sashimi plate came with huge pieces of Lobster, Uni, Yellow Tail, Snapper, Halibut, Tuna, and Salmon. Two unibowls (rice with seaweed and roe in a Uni shell) were also included. There were lots of other included items like Salmon Collar, deep fried Flounder, seaweed, Korean Pancake, several Soups, ice cream, etc. At any decent Japanese restaurant, this amount of live seafood with really fresh sashimi and cooked food would easily cost a minimum of $150. The Uni was literally stacked in 2"x3"x1" slab. There were approx 40 pieces of sashimi. The raw Lobster head and claws were then made into a delicious soup. With the exception of the chewy Tuna, the entire dinner was really good and a great value. When I told the owner that the Tuna was inedible, she told me that many Koreans prefer that cut of Tuna. She offered to replace it with another of my choosing. She said next time, we could specify which types and cuts of sashimi we wanted. The service was good. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. Since the restaurant was busy, it took them some time to seat us. If you like live seafood (Uni, Lobster, Shrimp) sashimi and want a good value, definitely come here. You won't be disappointed. read more
