My GF and I came here for the $100 live Lobster, Unibowl with sashimi dinner. The sashimi plate came with huge pieces of Lobster, Uni, Yellow Tail, Snapper, Halibut, Tuna, and Salmon. Two unibowls (rice with seaweed and roe in a Uni shell) were also included. There were lots of other included items like Salmon Collar, deep fried Flounder, seaweed, Korean Pancake, several Soups, ice cream, etc. At any decent Japanese restaurant, this amount of live seafood with really fresh sashimi and cooked food would easily cost a minimum of $150. The Uni was literally stacked in 2"x3"x1" slab. There were approx 40 pieces of sashimi. The raw Lobster head and claws were then made into a delicious soup. With the exception of the chewy Tuna, the entire dinner was really good and a great value. When I told the owner that the Tuna was inedible, she told me that many Koreans prefer that cut of Tuna. She offered to replace it with another of my choosing. She said next time, we could specify which types and cuts of sashimi we wanted. The service was good. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. Since the restaurant was busy, it took them some time to seat us. If you like live seafood (Uni, Lobster, Shrimp) sashimi and want a good value, definitely come here. You won't be disappointed. read more

Usually Korean own Japanese restaurant offers pretty good value. But I am not sure about this one.... Just look at my pic. Sashimi plate for $20... Frozen fish pieces, small chucks, not slices..... One thing that really turns me off is the chef behind the counter also works as waiter, picks up the phone and takes order and prepares your raw food and cut your fish with bare hands.... Having lived in Japan for a few years, I find it hard to stomach a lot of sushi and sashimi back in the States. The texture is off or the rice sucks. I'll take into consideration that this restaurant has Korean influences, but boy oh boy did the fish not disappoint. From the Kama we ordered, to the large sashimi combo we got, down to the extra uni bowl we ordered, the texture and flavored were spot on. The Kama (yellowtail collarbone) had the perfect charred taste and was so juicy and flaky. The ponzu sauce with masago was a nice touch. We went with 3 people and frankly couldn't finish everything because there was just so much food! But from the very first bite of the fish, I was in heaven. Soft. Great texture. And the uni bowl? I originally wondered why my friend had asked to order another one until I had a bite. Friends, uni is absolutely horrendous when it is not fresh. But when it is, it has a sweetness and freshness impossible to find anywhere else. Lastly, the service was so top-notch. it was just.....okay. i was just really put off by a "japanese" restaurant that served those small korean side dishes and just having a korean vibe in general. the food was nothing special, service was nothing special. overall underwhelming and kind of pricey. it would've been worth it if the food was a little better but for how mediocre it was it was definitely pricey read more

The service is horrible. They kept ignoring our table until we have to stop one of the waiter. The environment was also bad. We were surrounded by couple of unclean tables with stacks of plates. We had a 9 month old with us and the kind and vivacious owner immediately gave us a bowl of rice porridge. She said all babies loved it and she was right. So I came here for lunch with a cocky attitude thinking I knew everything there is to know about sushi and that short of visiting a Japanese fish market nothing would surprise me. Because of this I ordered omakase and told them I eat everything. I didn't listen I was just like yeah yeah that's fine bring it out. Boy was I wrong. They have some weird stuff here. In fact it was too weird for me. I feel like I finally met my match. But if you're a sushi snob looking to really be pushed to the depths of obscurity, this is the place. Wow - I don't know how this place could be anything but 5 shiny stars! There is a $100 omakase-sort of set that is more than enough for 4 people ($25 each person). This is the thing to get, without a doubt. It begins with about 10-12 side dishes/ assorted seafood appetizers, followed by a grilled salmon collar, fried sole, then the entree: a gigantic shared plate of about 8-9 types of sashimi (including uni and lobster), and a lobster head that is still barely moving. After that, they take the lobster head and claw to make this beautiful fragrant soup with veggies in a hot clay pot. Following this, there is a fresh uni bowl - one for each person. The uni (which is like 4 pieces) is mixed into rice and other stuff...so you really get the uni flavor, but not really a lot of uni pieces to eat it with. We also ordered the lunch special..that comes with sashimi. It was not fresh. The sashimi had a weird texture and it was hard and stiff. It wasn't soft or a melt in your mouth texture. We left a piece of red snapper sashimi because we couldn't finish it. Not because we were stuffed, but because it was that gross. Food was great and so was the service. Even though two of the Uni bowls came out not too fresh but they exchanged for us without any problems and was happy to do so. One of the Uni bowl I completely finished even though it was not as fresh but edible. I told one of the waitress about it after we have completely finished with our meals, not expecting anything in return because they started cleaning up our table and also because their service was good so I didn't complaint. All I did was quietly and nicely told the waitress about the not so fresh Uni. I believe that later on the waitress told the boss lady because out of nowhere, the boss lady brought me a completely "FRESH" new one that she opened herself. She was very apologetically and made sure that the new one was awesomely awesome and it was freshly good! Even though that I was so full I still munched it down because it was just too fresh to give up! =P The best time to come, however, is on a weekday with reservation. The first time I was here with a reservation on a Saturday, as expected, we had to wait. But on the week day reservation with a party of eight, we got seated right away. I ordered the lunch box that came with broiled salmon, salad, tempura, california roll (4 pieces), and miso soup. The salmon was heaven and everything else was yummy. Don's dish looked yummy too, the sashimi salad. It came in a huge bowl and is a bargain at only $6.95. I told myself to try this next time we come :). We even got free green tea ice cream for dessert. And the waitress/ host is so friendly and welcoming. The decor is very cute and warm. You can tell they put some effort into decorating the place. The location is kind of hidden, maybe that's why no one knows about it. It's right next to this exercise shop and a liquor store. It's a hidden gem that more people need to discover. I am always here for the raw fish rice at lunch. Its $7 and it comes in a big deep bowl of fresh salad with raw fish on top. I don't like to eat my salad too flavorful, and so I always skip putting the hot sauce they serve with it. Despite no dressing on my salad, I simply love the freshness of the raw fish and vegetables. I often order the baked green mussels; a little spicy but very fresh and flavorful. When I feel like some detox, I go there for a good, fresh and crispy raw fish rice (its actually raw fish on salad with rice on the side). read more

Terrible service I have experienced! I have been to Man Sun three times and this will be my last time to eat there. They are so rude to us. We have six people and order four special combos, but they don't give us uni bowls, only some rice and a little uni in a small bowl. When we asked why we don't have the uni bowl like we ate before, they said they don't have enough uni. But we see other tables have the uni bowls. The large sashimi plate tastes not good. Disappointed with portions and cut of fish on the regular $19 chirashi bowl. It's seems as though they slice the fish in half to create two slices. Fish were sliced very thin and overall, disappointed with the portion and price. I will not be a repeat customer. For $4 more, I'd go to Ootoro for their Salmon Ikura bowl. This place is awesome. This is a Korean run, sushi joint. They serve a small Ban Chan with every meal. The owner, a Korean lady named Esther runs the place and is always there. She is really into her customers. Food is very good, the uni bowl is their specialty. I can take it or leave it. Sushi is very good and they have a $45 special that is a ridiculous feast. Service is a bit...disjointed, in a we really care about you kind of way but you will need to speak up to get stuff like water or the check. Amazing!! Love their uni bowls!! Service is excellent! I have two kids so it's a rare occasion that restaurants will help accommodate children. They brought out small toys and light up things to distract my girls while we waited for our food. Such a great atmosphere! I am really pleased with how well this restaurant is managed.
