This is not a safe space for the LGBTQ community. That has become even more apparent as I read through the other reviews. The fact that they are scamming people left and right by deciding what they are going to charge you just by looking at you -- Well, it's a dangerous game to play. My partner and I stopped by and asked what the day rate was for the weekend so that we could come by when they we're hosting DJs. When we returned on a Sunday, we were told a different day rate. We asked for the manager (a man who's photo is posted in these reviews) and he reassured us that we were correct about what we were originally told. We hung out for a good amount of time by the pool, and ordered about 10 drinks as well as food (the food is terrible btw). When we received the check the day rate was listed as DOUBLE the price. When we politely approached our server about this he went to get his manager. The same guy that originally sat us down and reassured us about the price, then told us that we were lying and the he never quoted us that price. He then passed us on to HIS manager, who didn't want to hear a word we had to say. Mind you, our friends who were with us paid less than what we were quoted and attempted to show the manager their receipt. This didn't seem to matter -- He decided to call the police on us. We were about to spend $200+ and his machismo and pride could not be bothered. They then tried to tell the cops that we attempted to run out on our bill. Another lie. When we told the cops that we had every intention of paying our bill, and only wanted to pay the price we were quoted -- They looked at the managers like they were idiots, and were visibly not happy to have had their time wasted. We tried to take photos of the police report and property and an employee tried to take the phone out of my partners hand. We are unbelievably LUCKY that the cops sided with us. This place only cares about your money, and not your safety or enjoyment. They are not consistent with how much and who they decide to charge. Absolutely disgusting display of hate and disrespect. You are not safe here -- The infinity pool and so-called ambience is most definitely not worth the potential of being sent to prison over someone's pride. Spend your hard earned money somewhere deserving (You're sure to find better food and drink just about any where else on this beach. My partner and I stayed at the less "glamorous" Hotel Tropicana, and received absolutely exceptional service. Not to mention -- They actually put alcohol in their drinks.). read more

Our bill was 1000 pesos, they charged us over 5000 pesos. It turned out they had put someone else in the same bracelet number as us (without us knowing). When we told them about the discrepancy they said we had to pay anyway "because we knew the other guy as we came in together" (we didnt know him but he was at the entrance waiting to be seated and so the host assumed we were together). After I tried to explain they called the police, who came, as a swat team, with automatic guns and all. I was forced up against the wall as they wanted to take me to the police station. NEVER I have not paid my bills or owe any money to anyone. We were in Mexico for 3 days to relax and one has to know that battles to fight, so I was forced to pay (by the police!) a bill for hundreds of dollars that was not mine. We have been coming to PV for years and have come to Mantamar where the hosts have always been all smiles and great customer service. This has changed. This club is now just a tourist trap for gays, poor customer service, expensive drinks and, as you can read, a scam. What happened to us may sound trivial, but trust me, when the heavily armed mexican police is forcing your body up against the wall your vacation is short of ruined and your head marked for life. My advice to you is to go to the Blue chairs, next to this club, where they have no pool but they are nice and treat you with dignity (and much cheaper drinks). read more

The facility and location is very decent however that's about the extent of praise. We paid $200 pesos for entry and getting service was almost impossible. 40 minutes to get a margarita then sat down at the tables without menu. I had to retrieve my own menu. 50 minutes later we never got our order taken and wait staff walked past us on numerous occasions. Asked to order twice and told waiter was coming. Staff was unfriendly, never smiled, and didn't seem to want to be here. I highly recommend NOT staying here if you are vacationing in PV. After walking along the beach for about a half-mile stretch, we determined that Mantamar was, by far, the most upscale and largest of the beach clubs in the LGBT-focused area. We ended up coming back here every day in our four-day PV stay. The service here, from start to finish, feels very convoluted and haphazard, though generally very friendly. No one, from the hosts/managers, to the servers, to the bar staff, seem to have a firm grasp on what's happening, and they always seem to be trying to find an answer for you, though, again, with a friendly demeanor. While we were here during a holiday weekend, and I assume it was busier than usual, it never seemed crowded, which was a good thing, but I also don't know why they weren't able to get a better grasp on any given situation. Cabana reservations were always full, but they had us check back every hour or so, and they ended up finding one for us every day. Food and beverage service was painfully slow on the busier days, but pretty fast on days when the pool was less crowded. Food and beverage quality was very high, especially considering that it was a day-club atmosphere. Prices for everything--food, beverages, cabanas--were very reasonable. The atmosphere was what drew us in initially, and what kept us coming back. Mantamar is the closest you'll come to a Vegas-style day-club in the Romantic Zone of PV. read more

Mantamar is a captivating beach club with it's amazing beachfront location! My partner & I had the opportunity to check this place out with no cover charge! (Not sure if there is one or how much.) If you are hip and in the happening, this is the place to be. Let your hair down, get on your sexy suit and be with the finest people of Puerto Vallarta. A sure must if you have a day to lounge around listening to music, swimming up to the pool bar, and playing in the sand! This is an ADULT ONLY club. Be prepared for an experience like no other... Great beach location, with friendly staff and good food. It's true that some of the drinks are not very strong, but there are some which are better than others. Anything "frozen" is going to be weak! Though maybe that's a good thing if you're sitting on the beach all day. There is also a beautiful pool, with a swim up bar and warm jacuzzis as well. The fee is really only 100 pesos, with the rest as a credit towards your eventual bill. We hung out all day, drank a decent amount of drinks and had lunch too. It came to around US $35 per person... not bad for a nice day out! The only downside is that the attentiveness of the servers seems to slacken off in the afternoon. read more

Good experience overall. Service is slow even when not busy. Stay on top of alerting your server and bartender to your needs. Nice beachside service under loungers and umbrellas, as well as on the patio and at the bar. The food is good - try the ceviche, enchilladas, and other plates, can't go wrong! I did not rent out a cabana, but it wasn't necessary to fully enjoy this club. The company was good, however I suspect some of the people there are not guests or visitors but crowd 'plants' - local strippers who I imagine are paid or otherwise incentivised to come. I see them working at the nearby strip clubs. This may not be true, but it doesn't matter, I guess. Lots of gorgeous guys to check out at a gay club is never a bad thing, regardless of who they are or why they're there. Cute swimwear all around. Great music!! Gays really know how to party. Lesbians and a few straights come too, just fewer of them of course. Lots of good stuff to dance to, lots of variety, lots of fun. Good crowd. Perfect place to relax in the pool and on the beach! Keep your drink orders simple for the best service. They have lots of selection. I tried to get fancy but it's not that kind of a place. Nice pool and shoe cubbies, with restrooms conveniently located closeby. The overall design, furniture and layout is nice. This is top on my Puerto Vallarta list. Access is free when you stay at Almar Resort. If you like relaxing all day in a gay club atmosphere on the beach, I recommend staying at Almar so you can take full advantage of Mantamar. I' had the worst restaurant experience!! We got our food 45 mins after order. We ordered dished that includes flank steak, and they brought us this horrible dish with like 8 pieces of small bits of flank steak, as if they sliced one in half and split it between my friend and I. I complained about the service to the manager and got the worst attitude from him. They still wanted us to pay for the horrible service and food! On May 14th 2019 My sister and I come from AZ and we like coming here since they open and today we actually experienced a bad service because no personnel acknowledged us we sat for an hour or so and we still we're not acknowledged by the employees the lounge was not even busy but we still were ignored. The waiters we're paying more attention to American tourists, until a friendly waiter named Luis Omar helped us and gave us a great service. I am very disappointed because i am also a tourist and also Mexican but you can tell right away who they preferred more I'm never coming back and i hope who ever is reading this consider twice of going here. read more

You pay 500 pesos for the day. Some of it goes to credit for food and drink. The drinks are pricey but good. I had the strawberry daquiri and pina colada. We also had some burgers at lunch. We found out about Mantamar which is a new beach club at the end of the old town beach. You pay a daily fee, most which goes to the purchase of food and drinks for the day, and you get either a lounge chair on the beach or a cabana at the lovely infinity pool. Its really a great spot to hang with friends, meet new friends and get some FABULOUS drinks and decent food. Stand outs were: cucumber martinis, pina colodas, flatbreads, guac, scallop enchilladas. BEWARE, the waiter didn't like my %10 tip which is standard in Mexico, so he literally changed the amount! It appears they depend on drunk Americans not to notice this crap. Only pay cash at this place or you will be putting yourself at risk. Drinks are weak, very weak. I complained that my champagne was corked, I got a very rude response from the guy who said he was the bar manager. Champagne prices are outrageous. The music is so loud, you think your going to go deaf. They hassle the hell out of you to go on their tour to sell you a membership in their scam club. They had loud construction going on in the middle of high season, told us there would be no chair rental fee as a result but neglected to mention a towel fee. Much of the staff seems totally put off by any request for service. Our server was very difficult to find. The food was meh. I tried to reserve a cabana online, didn't work. Tried calling, disconnected 3 times, put on hold for a long time. Complete disorganization. Web site doesn't function properly. Wifi sucks. Its a shame, this place has so much potential. read more

Perfect spot to spend the day, bring plenty of sunblock. You have a beach footsteps away and an infinity pool with cabanas. Swim to the bar and have a bite of their duck tacos or grab a cold drink, Pacifico Lite is my favorite. You do have to pay for a day pass to use the pool or the beach chairs but it's worth it!!! The service is great and friendly. Pool party music playing at all times and four giant tv's showing various sports games or programs. Have fun! read more

Mantamar is a must-do every time we are in Puerto Vallarta!!! This was our third time here and we will continue to go back. Pool: The pool is beautiful, clean, and refreshing. There are multiple jacuzzi tubs, a shallow step with sunning chairs in the water, and the main infinity pool. The water is always the perfect temperature no matter what time of year (we have been in October, January, and May). The bathrooms at Mantamar are also always clean and there are locker rooms for changing or locking up your possessions if you wish. Cabanas: The cabanas that line the pool add a very exclusive and high-end "beach club" feel to the environment. The mattresses are covered in terrycloth so you can lounge in your bathing suit and not feel like you're getting a sheet dirty/wet, and the staff offers unlimited clean towels. The cabanas are wonderful for relaxing outside of the pool and also a safe and shaded place to place your belongings while you swim. Food/Cuisine: The food/drinks at Mantamar are wonderful!!! I am vegan and can eat delicious dishes here, including the guacamole (highly recommended), the organic tomatoes, and the fries. There are plenty of meat and fish options as well. The drinks not only taste good, but are a beautiful presentation. I love the sangria especially, but everything is great. Service: And finally, the service. While everything is gorgeous and lovely at Mantamar, the service is what brings it over the top and makes it better than any other beach club. Let me put it in perspective: There are waiters literally wearing wetsuits who will swim over to you holding a tray above the water to serve you drinks in the pool. Everyone is so thoughtful and anticipate your every need before you ask (another towel, another drink, some food, etc.). This is mostly a gay attraction, but our friends are always a group of LGBT and straight identifying friends and everyone feels welcome and has the best time at Mantamar. Our last trip in January 2017 our waitress was Karina. She helped us order different fun and delicious drinks every round. She had great suggestions and was always smiling, helpful, and personable. She was wonderful. Thanks Karina! George, who is the concierge at Almar (the hotel that owns Mantamar), set our friends up for a beautiful and absolutely perfect day at Mantamar. We were a group of 12-15 friends at any given moment. He ensured that we had multiple cabanas reserved before we ever even arrived to the pool. He made sure that we were being served well and enjoying our time, he is so attentive and considerate of all the clientele. George also reserved one of Mantamar's beach gazebos at sunset for our group to honor our newlywed friends! It was amazing! We were all able to sit together under the gazebo and watch the sunset with champagne, wine, and small plates of food for hours just talking about enjoying the beauty of Puerto Vallarta and Mantamar. We are so grateful for how hard he worked and how attentive he is to detail in order to ensure that visitors to Almar, Mantamar, and PV have the best experience they possibly can. Thank you George! I came here for the first time with a group of 18+ family and friends. From the moment we walked in for our first sunset cocktail, Edgar welcomed us with a bright, warm smile and was ready to assist us with drinks & appetizers. His service was superb. We requested to have him every time we came back during our trip (which ended up being 4 out of the 10 days we were in PV). Having such a large group and assisting other parties I'm sure can be very challenging, but Edgar was ALWAYS on top of things. I've been here before and enjoyed the place. The pool is nice. The drinks are better quality than the neighboring resorts. However, I went here on my first day of a week's long vacation, ordered the ceviche, and got the worst food poisoning ever. Liquid coming out both ends for three days (so far), aches, chills, stomach cramping. I've now missed out on multiple bar crawls and a boat trip all because of this one stupid meal. If you see a waiter leave a tray of food out in the sun before serving it to you, do not assume this is ok. Chew him out and demand new food. read more
