WE STARTED OUT WITH THE BISCUITS, OMG, they came right out of the oven, moist, hot, buttery..to "die for"...too bad only three come in a serving...absolutely delicious....and can't miss! We also tried the cornbread, it was delicious too but not as good as the biscuits , we then ordered the shrimp and grits..wow, the flavors blended so well ( mushrooms), I left my plate clean! We had to keep our jackets on despite the fact we were sitting inside We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks before the rest of our party showed up. We had a pretty good assortment of their specialty cocktails- lots of interesting flavors to choose from, including but not limited to the Archie and Florida Man. From the menu we had the albacore dip and the trout tartare, which we found very very tasty. I had the diver scallops and the sunchokes. Flavors combinations were great. Food is alright, the halibut was really salty. The worst thing a business can do is pull a fast one and tack on stupid charges to your bill and this one did it. 4% on top of a $280 bill for 3 with a description that sounds like emotional blackmail (benefits for workers). Simply adding a percentage extra charge to your customers is an outright lazy and unintelligent way of coming up with a solution to your problems. The food was made with fresh quality ingredients but could use a little bit more flavor. The vibe of the restaurant makes up for it. A great option for brunch or drinks with some friends. But NOT tonight. Service was not good. I am not sure if Angel our server was stretched thin with too many tables but tonight was disappointing. I apologize in advance to my dearest Manuela, but tonight was not your finest hour. Why? I had to go look for my server at one point and secondly, he would disappear for long periods of time and then come by the table, almost as an afterthought, when he was going to another table. As for our dinner we had our usual trout tar tar and it was very good. We also had the smoked albacore dip appetizer along with the cream biscuits. We finished with the fried chicken and arugula salad, again all dishes were very good and I would recommend each item. However, the service tempered any joy that Manuela usually gives my wife and I. After leaving massage and talking to 2 people, finally got to talk to the GM. As he was explaining, the server proceeded in a different way and it will take up to 48 hours to adjusted . We split an order of beignets and the black bean Chilaquiles. Both orders were phenomenal! For her birthday they brought out peach ice cream which HAD to be made from real, honest to god, peaches! It took a good 15-20 min to get a bottle of wine. Fine. Our party was in conversation. Once we ordered though, it took a really long time to get our food on a Tuesday night. The host rarely checked in on us. It wasn't until we finished a bottle of wine between four people that I asked about our food. I didn't love that. If I'm spending $400 on a meal, I would expect a little more. The chicken was really salty according to my sister. My sea bass was cooked to perfection. The aguachile was good but not sure I would call it aguachile. The yellowtail was enjoyed by my boyfriend and brother in law. They did mention the portions being small. We made reservations so we were seated right away and service was very friendly and efficient. Ordered the cream biscuits to share and omg it was indeed very creamy and delicious. The biscuits were layered so well it kind of reminded me of a croissant. And the butter and jam-- perfect combo of buttery and sweet. Friend ordered the popover Benedict which she thought was great! The baby Dutch bread was quite intriguing. I got the venison burger since it seemed to be the most popular choice and I definitely did not regret.
