Super cozy comfort breakfast we had here! We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday morning, but the staff was so nice in accommodating us and we were seated quite quickly. The unagi bowl is delicious and the traditional Japanese breakfast was yummy too, although it wasn't as filling. The French toast was delicious, I highly highly recommend it. Next time I come I definitely want to try the loco moco! I love how you can look over at the kitchen and see how the chef prepares the food, if there was not bar seating I definitely would have asked to be seated there, but it's a super tight spot - cozy, but def something to keep in mind for large parties.

We had a good time at Azay. I had the daily bento with jidori chicken (the chicken was DELISH), my guests had the Nagoya hitsumabushi (eel bowl) & crab curry. The service was excellent (they even gave me xtra salad since I omitted rice). Water/tea refills were spot-on. My only complaint is that the soba noodles were totally overcooked, like, beyond. Probably needed 2-2.5min less cooking time. Other than that I thought the meal was decent. Would def like to return & try their Japanese breakfast.

So glad to have found this spot in LA! Was really missing traditional Japanese breakfast from our travels abroad and so happy to have come across Azay. Menu is simple but with good variety of options. We tried the breakfast bento and lunch bentos. The array of accompaniments was excellent. Service is also wonderful & very friendly. Food was served hot & fresh, quality was excellent as to be expected. Beautiful, bright and cozy space. Really enjoyed our meal here & looking forward to our next visit. Also got the matcha crème brulee--one of the best desserts we've ever had. Perfect balance of matcha & sweetness. Pro tip: make a resy! Tables fill fast.

First time at Azay in Little Tokyo today, and somehow it felt like I'd been meaning to walk through those doors for years. One of those places that quietly lingers on your "must try" list until you finally give in. Azay was opened by chef Akira Hirose, who built the space around the kind of Japanese breakfast he grew up with. Thoughtful. Seasonal. The opposite of rushed. It's a small, intimate restaurant in the heart of Little Tokyo, where the morning light hits just right and everything feels intentional. The Japanese breakfast was exactly what I hoped for and somehow better. A neat lacquered tray carrying grilled fish, delicate sides, miso soup, rice, pickles. Comforting in that quiet, steady way. Home cooked but precise. Balanced without trying too hard. Elegant, nourishing, and deeply satisfying without ever feeling heavy. It's the kind of meal that doesn't shout for attention. It simply exists with confidence. And sometimes that's exactly what you want.

I hopped over to Azay for a quick lunch and promptly fell in love. From the ambience, to the joyfulness of the staff, from the presentation and sheer flavor of the food... everything was perfect. I ordered the Japanese Breakfast with mackerel and it was perfectly proportioned and flavored. The mackerel was cooked perfectly crispy without burning or drying out the fish. Folks have said the miso was a bit warm, but proper miso is meant to be made in warm water lest you kill the beneficial bacteria. Which means, the miso soup was also perfect. I also ordered the eel bowl for take out, and it's possibly the best eel I've ever had. More importantly, the way they flavored the rice surprised and delighted me. I don't think I've ever had rice taste so so so delectable. I would honestly just go back to eat the seasoned rice in their eel bowl and be the happiest person ever. The miso butter chocolate chip cookies was also very good--more buttery than miso tasting though. Thank you very much for such fine service and feasting. I left feeling lighter and happier. Thank you thank you thank you.

Met a friend here for lunch and thank goodness we had a reservation, place was packed when we showed up. Service was warm and genuinely friendly. The menu is small and everything sounded good. I ordered a coffee and the tofu & maitake bento: super light, clean, and really satisfying. Bonus points for the coffee refills, and it was actually good coffee, not an afterthought. My friend went with the chawanmushi and the miso black cod bento, which was perfectly cooked. We ended with crème brûlée and a cookie, and wow, perfect Japanese-style sweetness. Not cloying, not heavy, just right. Loved it. Only downside: parking is an absolute nightmare. Truly awful. But once you're inside, it's worth the hassle.

Came to Azay in Little Tokyo with my daughter and it did not disappoint. We started with the chicken karaage, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside--an instant hit. For our mains, I had the miso cod Japanese breakfast bento box and my daughter ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box. Both were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The miso cod was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, and the variety in the bento made every bite interesting. The chicken teriyaki was equally impressive--savory, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. Everything we tried was exceptional, from the quality of the ingredients to the execution. You can really taste the attention to detail in each dish. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to.

We were so excited to have the chance to try this place for the first time. The service was great. They were able to accommodate us without a reservation. The staff was attentive and courteous. The dining space is clean and they have an open kitchen. The food was excellent. It was an authentic Japanese breakfast experience which brought us back to the ryokan in Kyoto. Restroom was clean, which is always a plus! Street parking available. Reservation is recommended. We will definitely return!

really cool neighborhood vibe although you'd easily miss it amongst the bustle of the area. staff is welcoming and friendly although at times due to the fast pace, you might have to flag down someone for water refills, etc. it's a small place and anyone is willing to help so don't get frustrated. the food is yummy although on the slightly high price for the variety that you might want to expect for Japanese breakfast. the okazu could be better and the rice portion more generous. the standout was the unagi bowl, as the fish was not oily, but cooked to soft tender perfection. the decor is on trend as they recently remodeled (due to a water damage from upstairs tenant).

Absolutely delicious japanese breakfast, a rare find in LA! We got the miso black cod option and the fish was marinated perfectly while still being moist and flaky. The portion isn't huge but it's enough to be a light to moderate sized breakfast that feels healthy and doesn't weigh you down. I would definitely come here again!

Japanese breakfast done authentically! Small and intimate with great food that has all the makings of a home cooked meal. If you're a big eater it won't leave you as satiated as a warning.

So good! We made a Resy and was able to sit down after a couple of minutes. There was a line for walkins so super glad to know they take reservations. We got the steamed egg with seafood on the bottom for the starter which was perfect. Then we both got Japanese breakfast with miso cod and it was perfection. Definitely a place I'd like to return to over and over again. Service was great and the wait time for food was not long at all. Hot tea wasn't very hot- more lukewarm but they came around with hot water to refill so all good! Not sure why yelp labeled it as Japanese/French- I'd say more Japanese/Hawaiian as they have loco moco on the menu.

My husband and I feel tricked by the reviews. 4.6 stars and so we came here for lunch and were sorely disappointed. He had the crab curry and I had the mackerel bento. He said the carrots in his curry weren't cooked all the way and the curry was bland. My mackerel was rubbery I wondered if it was microwaved. The soba was overcooked and the sauce tasted like supermarket jar sauce. The salad dressing just tasted like oil. I really hate leaving bad reviews but we feel like 4.6 is just tricking people into eating here. We also paid $15 just to eat here so overall spent over $100 for food we could've easily cooked better at home.

The service was absolutely on pointe thanks to Kaiya, Teri, and Randy. Warm, polished, attentive, and just the right amount of fun. Hubs and I split everything, which was the right move because this meal was rich, delicious, and very filling. We started with the baguette bread service, which is an additional charge but 100% worth it. The bread, salted butter, and mixed berry spread were pure France in a basket. Next up was the French onion soup, and wow. Cheesy, full of flavor, with a beautiful broth that somehow managed to be rich without being too salty. Perfection. Then came the Big Mec burger, as seen on Food Network's top burgers -- and yes, it absolutely lives up to the hype. Definitely enough for two. Perfectly seasoned patties, melty cheese, a fresh brioche bun, and that bordelaise sauce bath underneath? Flavor-forward, decadent, and unforgettable. We rounded out the meal with a slice of French toast because apparently we make excellent life choices. Also delicious, also worth sharing. This was not just lunch -- it was an experience. Will I go back? Absolument! Next up: dinner.

Got seated on the patio on a beautiful day, so we were perfectly happy. After a quick glance at the menu, our recommendations from our server, we decided to order. We started with the escargot, as one does at a French restaurant, and the French onion soup. The escargot cube bathed in butter, garlic and parsley and were very tasty. I mean, how can they not be when bathed in garlic and butter? The French onion soup was also delicious with ample gruyere cheese overflowing. Pure indulgence! For entrees, we all tried something different. The steak frites were.... steak frites. If you've tried one, you've tried most, so not very memorable. The duck confit was cooked well and not overly fatty, which was nice. The omelette, let me say, is beautiful to look at. You almost don't want to touch it because it is very picrure-esque, and absolutely cooked perfectly. A, dare I say, perfect omelette. Finally was the Big Mec. Now, there are a lot of good burgers in Los Angeles, but the Big Mec is one of the greats. So much flavor with the double wagyu patties, cheese, special sauce all while sitting in a Bordelaise sauce. It isn't something you would eat every day, as it is heavy, but it is phenomenal when you do. I'd say one of the top five burgers in Los Angeles, in my humble opinion. Overall, delicious French restaurant in Hollywood, a little above Hancock Park, serving delicious food. Get the escargot and French onion soup to start, and definitely get the omelette and the Big Mec, you will not be disappointed.

The lights and ambiance are truly insane. I have never experienced anything like it. Let me backtrack too and say that I paid $14 for valet which tbh is not too bad considering I didn't have to worry about my car or anything so it was worth it. Okay the food. We got Parker rolls and the Mezze plate for the table. Wow, the Parker rolls were as you would expect. Buttery goodness. French butter as you know...top tier. Okay the Mezze plate? Every single sauce was so good. The little cous cous thing in the Mezze plate was so cute and yummy. Then the main dishes. Seven vegetable couscous was great. As a Moroccan, I can say it was a great vegetarian version of the dish. Has the staple veggies you look for in a cous cous. My friend got the vegan cauliflower steak and that was so beautiful and tasted delicious. It was a great dish for my vegan friend. Our waiter was so nice and really personable as well. From start to finish, he was there for us when we needed him and we really enjoyed our dining experience because of him. I forgot his name but he's a star. She chose this place for the Instagram worthy atmosphere you see online, but I would say it falls a little short of how picturesque it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice garden setup up, but we were expecting a more romantic and whimsical layout. We also noticed that the dress code is very loosely enforced as there were numerous people there with T shirts on. We got there for our reservation about 15 minutes early and was seated quite fast. The hostesses at the front were quite friendly and the wait staff were attentive and mostly nice. One of our servers seemed a little curt at one point, but it wasn't too bad. Once you are seated they ask about your drink order, and offered wines, sparkling water, and literally said "tap water". Pretty surprised that they said tap water, but we went with a glass of wine and sparkling water. The menu is short and it's easy to make your decision. We went with the 24oz Prime Ribeye Steak, Pappardelle pasta, Kingfish Crudo, and the Portuguese Piri Piri Shrimp. The ribeye was served with scalloped potatoes and green beans that were delicious. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare, tender, and served in a very balanced sauce. The Piri Piri Shrimp was also great. Large pieces in a slightly spicy cream sauce; I would describe it as almost a Cajun flavor. These were my favorites of the dishes we ordered on this night. The Kingfish Crudo was a nice choice. I believe it was yellowtail served with small pieces of cherry tomatoes and peach chunks. The sauce was nice and refreshing with a little sweetness. The Pappardelle Pasta was ok, and probably my least favorite dish of the night. It wasn't bad, but wasn't on par with the rest of our meal. The thick pasta noodles were al dente, and the sauce was nice and creamy with pieces of green beans. It got better once we mixed the poached egg into the sauce, but still didn't get it to the point where we would order it again. Since it was my fiancé's birthday, she wanted to get one of their desserts served as a small birthday. She saw pictures of their passion fruit coconut cheesecake on Instagram and wanted that, but they changed it where the passion fruit was at the bottom of the cake. I thought it was decent, but not a great dessert. I thought the staff would at least sing happy birthday like other restaurants, but that didn't happen here. Overall, The Little Door is a small romantic stop to have a date night. I don't know if I would consider it a place to celebrate a special occasion though. I think we would come back, but not for anything big. Also, I would recommend using the valet, it's right in front and they only charge $14 pre tip.

So, let's be honest. Most of us were here to take advantage of the Chase Sapphire Reserve $150…read morerestaurant credit, right? Because Camelia's is one of only like, 3 restaurants on the east side, and pretty much the only one open on Monday (which was the last reasonable day to use this credit - yes, I was panicking, along with apparently 80% of the people who were dining that day). I had made a reservation for a Monday evening for a date night, but my partner had a work emergency, and dang it, the heck if I wasn't going to use this Chase credit! So I figured, no problem. Plan B. I'll just get take out. NEWP. It was Not Allowed (TM). They said the kitchen couldn't accommodate additional take out orders on top of their load that night. I was...a bit perplexed, I guess, because I had made a reservation, so it wasn't...an additional kitchen load? Like, y'all were expecting my party of 2 already? It was..... just putting the food in the box rather than on a plate? Make it make sense. In any case. I planted myself at the bar, made some friends (solo diners who were likewise last minute panicking about making sure to use their Reserve credit), ordered enough food for me and my partner, and as it came out, I just asked them to box it up (yes, I did sneak a couple tastes in). Patrick, who was my server, was fantastic - so kind and understanding. And at the end, Blair the bartender as well as Patrick both helped me make sure my "leftovers" were all there and safely packed for a car ride. Now for the food. Amazing. We got the black sesame rolls with salted butter (SO good), the oyster mushrooms (loved all the flavors on this), the black sesame snap peas (this was nice to get because veggies, but less fun than the others - some of the other dishes just had these lovely complex flavors...this one just sort of had lots of black sesame flavor, which we love, just a bit more straightforward than other stuff). We also got the beef cheek sando that was only available at the bar (delicious and so tender, with a side of picked veggies), the Japanese bolognese (I'm not sure what was Japanese about it, but it was very tasty!), and the seabream.(tender, comes with some sort of mashed something or over that is kind of sweet, and with clams). We might come back in the future for an actual dining experience - the space is cute, and parking isn't horrible. There's valet, but also plenty of parking if you're willing to walk a couple blocks.

It's dimly lit and loud since there were so many people there already. We were ready to order everything by the time someone came to take our drink order. It's happy hour 5-6pm so half price oysters and discounted highballs. 1/2 dozen oysters were great ! So fresh and creamy Uni and bluefin tuna toast was extremely disappointing. $28 for 2 tiny pieces and it wasn't very flavorful and the toast was soggy The seabass was average again not really worth the price. The mashed potatoes were sweet kind of weird Abalone and scallop pot pie was phenomenal !!!! I could eat 10 of these !! If I ever come back I'd skip most of these items and just get way more oysters and another pot pie

Let's talk about the food: -Wine and cheese flight- 3 Small Pours Paired with 3 Bites of Cheese (Bright Whites). This was absolutely lovely. The cheese and wine pairings were perfection. This was served with crackers and a baguette. My favorite cheese was the brie, it was super creamy. -Poulpe Aux Pistou- Octopus with white beans, and pesto. I do not recommend this item. The beans were a little undercooked and the octopus was chewy. I should've returned it. -Nicoise Salad- My friend had this salad and said this was one of the best ones she's ever had. The assortment of ingredients was perfect. Service was friendly but our server was running around with a large section. Our wines did not come out until after the food was delivered, and the appetizers were not coursed. I don't blame her for the lack of service as she was doing her best. The buss boys were really nice and helpful and we were able to ask for help as needed.

The owners added to the warmth of the space genuinely welcoming, the kind of presence that makes a place feel personal rather than polished-for show. The sea bass was the standout: perfectly crisped skin, buttery and delicate underneath, resting over earthy lentils that soaked up every bit of flavor. Paired with a smooth Malbec, it all came together effortlessly. But honestly, the best part of the night wasn't just the food or the wine. it was the company. The soft candlelight, a shared table, and her next to me made everything taste better. A spot that feels intimate without trying too hard. Definitely coming back.

Their burger was juicy and I was thoroughly impressed how it didn't need lettuce and tomato to be absolutely delicious. The fries were a perfect crisp. The star of the show: the steak!!!! It's perfectly to the temp of your choice, the peppercorn sauce layer on the bottom brought out the flavor of the steak. The best time to come to Camphor is their steak frites nights on Thursday. Apparently Camphor's Michelin star comes from their chicken so I must try next time! Price (5/5): Mind you, Camphor is a fine dining experience so expect dishes to be expensive. My high rating has to do with how worth it the food is. I must repeat: come on Thursday for their 8oz steak with fries priced at $65 Ambiance (5/5): Nicely decorated and comfortable seating. Come here on a date or a celebration. I wouldn't say families with young children are best suited here just because the space is a little tight and the menu is more mature. Service (5/5): Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The sommelier made great recommendations for wine.

The space was lovely, quiet during the start but average chatter once the restaurant filled up. For parking: either valet, try your luck on street parking or there's garage parking across the street. Food was overall delicious. All the starters we ordered were great: oysters (not pictured) were also delicious. The scallops dish was by far my favorite, the lobster was slightly overcooked for our liking, ribeye a tad salty for me but my bf enjoyed it. The potatoes were better than we anticipated as far as potatoes go lol thanks to the creme fraiche. The desserts were tasty, the kiwi was refreshing, the tart was standard. As far as facilities go: there were 2 separate all gender restrooms which include a bidet. I was able to handle the bill smoothly through the In-Kind app. Almost forgot to mention, the drinks were great too!
