We came to the cafe Monday at 830pm. I thought it might be a problem since they close at 1000pm, but the staff was pleasant and very attentive. We had a roasted beet salad with duck confit and the fried ravioli. The salad was delicious although I think the beets could have had a few more minutes in the roaster. The fried ravioli was very fresh tasting and crispy until the last bite. The tangy tomato sauce with shaved mozzarella was the perfect compliment. They have daily specials cooked fresh with locally sourced items. The cafe/bistro atmosphere was also a refreshing change of scenery for us. I look forward to trying more items on the menu. The prices are a tad bit expensive, but I am willing to pay if the food is properly prepared. We definitely will be back. read more

We love this place. Everything was perfect on a Friday night. We split the picatta and a bottle of french rose ($30, drank half and took half home), $6 for a Hopsecutioner beer (bottled) for my fiancé. The charcuterie board was exactly as it should be, a little sweet, a little sour, a little savory, a little creamy. There should be some old favorites on it as well as some surprises. A good charcuterie board should be just as you expected but also have new items that you have never heard of and Manuel's board was great. We split the chicken piccata, it's only $3 to split a dish and they give you extra starch and veggies. We are both going to have trouble trying other things here because the piccata was so perfect. Never say no to Manuel's cakes, just get a slice to go! They are all amazing. I used to be a baker and a chef and I've never been disappointed. Make reservations! My wife and I have dined frequently at Manuel's for almost four years, and every visit has delighted us with superb food and friendly, hospitable service. Until yesterday, we never had cause for complaint, which makes this negative review such a disappointment to write. Although we could understand that, due to COVID-related circumstances, our table for 4 was not ready immediately, we were frustrated that the hostess lied twice about why she couldn't seat us. First, she told us that they were only seating couples right away, but then parties of 4 and 3 that arrived behind us were instantly seated. Then, she made the excuse that she was waiting to give us a table under a fan, only (about 2 minutes later) to seat us at a table with no fan. The hostess became our server, and it took her two visits to our table before she got our order right. Still, my food was wrong when it arrived, as was my wife's. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to fix the mistakes during the meal because the server never returned to inquire about our food or even to offer to refill our beverages. Never have we been subjected to such poor service at this restaurant. We will still likely go back to Manuel's to give them another chance, but we hope that this experience will not be repeated. Ordinarily, it's so reliable, and we would be sad if this is the direction the establishment is going. read more

Manuel's never disappoints. We've been six times or so over the 10 years we've lived here and each time the service is wonderful, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is fun and inviting. My favorite dish to get is the crispy flounder and no matter how much time elapses between visits it is prepared the same way and tastes fresh and delicious. I love the cocktail selection because it tastes like they make their own fruit purées and that's a bonus. If you don't save room for dessert you MUST take a piece of cake home. We haven't tried one that we didn't love. There is a large patio if you like to dine outside and the street isn't so busy that you feel like you're eating around a bunch of traffic and noise. Inside is small, but the space is used well. Get reservations for sure! read more

Just a heads up their website says the Saturday lunch menu is 12-4 and dinner menu is from 4-10 but they don't serve food from 3:30-5pm. We showed up at 3:30pm and there were 3 groups in line and a hostess came out and said "just so everyone knows we don't serve food again until 5pm, drinks only right now." Everyone left. Service: B Service was good, but plates were not removed as we finished eating. Food Quality/Taste: B I had the Eggs Sardou. The food was flavorful, but the poached eggs were overcooked. I was hungry so I let it pass. I did like the unique idea of placing the poached egges on tender artichoke bottoms instead of bread. The side dish of fruit was nice and fresh. Price: B A little on the high side for food. $4 for good bottle beers was ok and expected. Mimosas were pricey, I am not sure if it was bottomless or not. This cafe is a quaint restaurant set in a cozy neighborhood. The food is great and fresh, and the service is friendly and welcoming. The staff is very accommodating. For example, I showed up in a dress with a fairly long train. When I sat down, my waitress got on the ground to fold up the train so that it wouldn't get stepped on. In another instance, I ordered the Reuben and found a piece of eggshell. When I pointed it out, the waitress was very apologetic and ordered to either remake the sandwich OR comp the one I already had. I think the more agreeable thing would have been to remake AND comp it as an eggshell in a Reuben is pretty unexplainable, seeing as none of the ingredients require eggs. I feel like this is the main issue because it truly seems like the restaurant is overestimating it's own value. I notice at the bottom of the menu, patrons are charged for splitting a plate. I get that this place uses its own farm fresh ingredients. And it also changes its specials often. Some items seem pretty fairly priced while others don't. I think you just have take a look at the menu and pick and choose. read more

I had the grilled salmon salad- the quality was good but again, unremarkable. Presentation was good - things that came out looked great but not tasty. My salad had SO many purple onions it overwhelmed the time amount of mango salsa a there were only tomatoes cucumbers and a TON of the onions.... The bread didn't really taste homemade but could have been. This was a lunch trip so maybe dinner is better. read more

Food was phenomenal! The bread at the beginning is so light and fluffy. My mother and I split a salad with a delicious Dijon mustard like dressing. It was served with mixed greens and cucumbers and lettuce. For entrees I got the lamb chops and my mom got the steak and frites. Both were very good and filling. Beautiful presentation. Our server Kody, though busy, gave great service. Our drinks were never empty and the food came out very quickly. The desserts really put everything over the top. I've always like Manuel's for their lunch, but I just had dinner there, and was beyond disappointed. For the nice little bistro meals they serve for lunch, the dinner options are very heavy. They were out of several menu options when we arrived. My husband wanted the steak for 2 for $75, so we split it. It was undercooked and so full of fat that I felt for a 25-30oz steak split, I only ate 2-3oz. The side of potatoes au gratin tasted raw and crunchy. My husband and I decided to try this place after looking at the reviews. The decor and setup defiantly gives off "small cafe in Paris" vibes. The food was ok overall. We had the orange duck wings and the fried ravioli for appetizers. They both had great flavor I just wish the ravioli were crispier. For the entrees, we had the NY strip and a Caesar salad. The salad was very small for it to be an entree but the flavor of the dressing was good. The NY strip and veggies were cooked perfectly but did not have any flavor. The desserts were raved about online so I was highly disappointed when they were not good. We ordered the chocolate peanut butter cake and the chocolate creme brûlée. The cake was on the drier side and the peanut butter frosting had a weird aftertaste. The crème brûlée did not have the crispy sugar topping that it was suppose to have. I think they forgot to actually "brûlée" it. The dessert that I did receive did have great chocolate flavor, it was just not what I wanted. read more

And lastly, even though I'm a local, I've learned to deal with it but Manuel's isn't the biggest restaurant, the space can be some wait crowded at times depending on your arrival, the outdoor eating is spacious but only optimal during spring through fall seasons. My 9 year old son commented upon our arrival that it looked like the end scene of Dark Phoenix (in Paris) so; mission accomplished. The ambiance is calm and welcoming. We were greeted by several of the staff in a warm, not overbearing, way. Our server was attentive but never bothersome -- always available but never interrupting. The food was excellent from appetizers through to the dessert. My daughter had the fried ravioli which would be perfect for an appetizer as well as a nice option for children. My son chose the grilled cheese which came on sourdough and was served with fries. My husband and I split the ribeye for 2 with salads and vegetables. The Greek salad was out of this world. I wanted my part of the steak cooked just a bit more and the staff happily and quickly obliged -- it came back PERFECT. The side of vegetables had some roasted beets, lovely parsnips, a nice little diced veggie medley that tasted like it may have had a bit of fennel - so divine! We shared a generous slice of the bright, beautiful blue almond amaretto cake. Please, do yourself a favor and have some. But sharing is a great idea. The flavor is mouth watering but the frosting is quite sweet. To top it all off, we were served the smoothest fresh-brewed decaf coffee the world has ever know. Do not waste your time or your money here. I was so excited to try this because it seems like such a fun, upscale brunch place. The food is incredibly bland and dry. We ordered a French onion soup that was the emptiest bowl with about 3-4 pieces of onion, a tiny ball of cheese and a few hunks of bread. It was mostly broth and wasn't even a flavorful broth. Their "famous" fries are disgusting and burnt- the only redeeming part of this is their aioli, which was fantastic. I got the special which was a stuffed quail and when I cut into it, it literally looked like the Christmas Story turkey. Even the waiter commented on this. My husband got the creme brûlée French toast and he said it was bland but he at least tried to eat it. The home fries it came with had no seasoning on them either. I don't understand their aversion to seasoning or moisture. Avoid this place at all costs. read more
