Maple Leaf Family Restaurant is a decent family diner with good food, reasonable pricing and sufficient staff. Everything on their menu is terrific, but I particularly love their chopped salads, which taste fresh and have quality ingredients like grilled chicken to order and homemade dressings. Their onion rings are particularly fun to order because they serve them in a tower form and are hot, crispy and flavorful. Is they the healthiest choice? Not at all. But, do we really have to be healthy all the time? Who cares, as long as it taste good, right? Anyway, check it out if ever in the area! My colleagues and I frequent this restaurant during lunch. I do enjoy the breakfast food that they have here. I usually get an omelette and it's usually okay. It's not very flavorful though. I've had some of the pancakes here and they're delicious. I would highly recommend them. The service is not very good. Had the worst experience today at lunch. My cousin and I ordered soup before our meals and the food came out a minute after getting the soup. My cousin said we just got our soup and didn't want her food to get cold. The waitress was extremely rude and when she walked away was talking about us and we were getting dirty looks. Partner and I just ate here a couple hours ago. We both ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and each had salads with chicken and the same dressing. Immediately after, we both started having stomach pains. We rushed home and both got sick and are still sick. The food tastes good here but I'm disappointed that we were both victims of cross contamination, especially in winter. I will say that food here has always been good. The service is prompt and the meals come out quick. However I noticed a few months back after taking clients to the restaurant that when I paid my bill there was a notice by the register that stated that all CC fees that are being imposed on the restaurant by the card companies are now being passed on to the customer. I explained to the lady cashing me out that was not right. That fee is the cost of doing business and that it is in poor judgement to pass that on to the customer. In the end she agreed. Today I went back and ate there by myself. The owner happen to be close by so I waved him over and expressed my concern to him about the fee that was imposed on me after I came in with 6 clients for lunch. He said that they have stopped paying the fee. I told him that it's not right that me and his customers should have to pay his CC processing fees and that I can no longer justify bringing in large groups if he is going to pass that 3% on to his customers. He got defensive and proceeded to tell me there is a bunch of restaurants in the area. I told him to name them...he started rattling off various dining establishments in the area and then when he got to Sedona I stopped him. I told him not true that I just dined there this past week and did not accrue and CC fees for using my card. He immediately told then I should pay cash! I told him most people don't carry cash! He didn't seem to care. So if your ok paying his CC processing fees because he's to cheap then by all means eat there. If not, pay cash or dine someplace else! read more

There was hair in both me and my girlfriend's farmer's omelettes. The waitress offered to take them off for us and as I was waiting in line to get change for a tip, the waitress comes back saying the manager says we need to pay for one of the omelettes. The food was pretty good and I was thinking how the restaurant might deserve another chance, as hair is sometimes inevitable when you dine out enough. But if a restaurant is really going to make you pay for hair filled food, that's how you lose my business for good. I didn't argue with them, but I felt pretty disrespected by the management. Wouldn't even tell me themselves, they had the waitress tell me for them. As someone who works in the food industry, I know that is not how most places are run and it shouldn't be. I got the "polish special" carry out... Honestly some of the absolute nastiest, vile, inedible garbage ive ever tasted in my life. One miserable dried out, 2 week old stuffed cabbage that tasted like poison, 3 flattened gross pierogi, and a tough old sausage topped with old old old dried out sauerkraut. I wanted to try something different and figured I would give this place a try. Big mistake!! The waitress was so eager to take my order but then when the food arrived she disappeared and never came back to check and see if I wanted a refill on my water or even ask me if everything was good. I ordered the Chicken Kabob dinner which comes with your choice of a soup or salad. The waitress said that they only serve chicken noodle so I took it. The soup was lukewarm and looked like dirty water, the chicken pieces were tough and the broth was not flavorful. When my food arrived, I was unsure if I made the right choice. The chicken tasted like it was pre-cooked and then thrown on the grill to warm it up and then served with two chunks of semi-cooked green peppers. The chicken was tough and didn't taste right. Their version of rice pilaf is mixed with crushed up pieces of raw carrots... WTF!!! .... the rice smelled like dirty feet... totally gross!! Now, I'm not a chef but normally when I order a chicken kabob elsewhere the food takes about 20-25 minutes, I got my food in less than 10 minutes. We had gone in once nearly a year ago and were underwhelmed. We decided to give it another chance and we are so glad we did. They have outstanding service and really good food. Prices are reasonable and the family that owns it could not be nicer. We walk in always to be greeted with smiles and quick service. My family frequents this establishment twice a week now and it is absolutely our favorite family restaurant. Compared to Zorba's, Kol's, National Coney Island and any other family type establishments in the area, this one is absolutely in another league altogether. Great breakfasts and lunches. I have to bump it down a notch, although it REALLY pains me to do so. We go here often and 9/10 it's perfect but I had an annoying experience here last night. New sign on the door ordered me to try the new nachos - so I did. We had our least favorite server last night - she's a middle-eastern or Greek woman, and she's just not that friendly. Here's the rundown: - Husband and I get sat, we order drinks and he immediately leaves to wash his hands in the restroom. - She brings drinks back and hubby is still gone - she asks me for my order right away, which I replied that hubby wasn't back yet - give us a few minutes. - The MOMENT he returns to the table she comes back to take orders...okay, he hasn't even looked at the menu yet, so I have to tell her we need more time again. - Meanwhile, she brought me the wrong drink and I ask her for another one. - She comes back to take orders and I asked her, verbatim, "can you tell me about the nachos?" She replies, "yes, they're very good, the man over there ordered them and he liked them." I replied, "that's great, can you tell me what's ON the nachos?" She then tells me it's got taco meat, onions, cheese and tomatoes. I say I'll take them. - I had to ask again, after about 10 minutes, for my correct drink because she never brought it. - Then the 10 year-old in me hears some farting noises coming from a big squeeze bottle behind the kitchen counter. My husband and I giggle and then I'm horrified to discover that the noise was from a bottle of squeeze cheese straight from the refrigerator. I wasn't horrified at the squeeze cheese - but that the cheese came ice cold from the fridge onto my nachos and then straight to my table! COLD NACHOS!? - I call the waitress back and politely ask her to warm up the nachos as they're ice cold. She unhappily agrees and I can hear the cook moan & groan loudly in utter annoyance in the kitchen when she asks him to warm them up. Really? The other major malfunction here is that the nachos came not only with taco meat, cheese, onions and tomatoes as earlier described, but they came with olives, lettuce and jalapenos as well. I don't have a problem with these toppings, per se, but I would've liked to have had them listed when I asked earlier. Worst part was TWO kinds of onions (red & white), both cut way too big (like salad size 3" strings of onions). So it was a nightmare to eat and the grease pool at the bottom of the plate was just nasty. Bottom line is that I still love The Maple Leaf, and will return there all the time - but DON'T EAT THE NACHOS! read more

We go here fairly often. Their menu is broad enough that most people can find something they will eat, and their staff is super friendly, thoughtful and kind. It also seems like one of the more child friendly restaurants in the area (or else they are just pretending) and they even have some books up front for the littles if they are getting restless. My favorite is the western omelette, because they grill and caramelize the veggies before folding them in. Other faves are the Greek salad with chicken and the cabbie sandwich -- basically a turkey reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. The fries don't hold up as well in carry outs but are some of the best ones around in person if you have the opportunity to dine in. read more

I love a "Parisian" omelet just as much as anyone else. I have enjoyed foods made with artisan ingredients or romantic sounding names like huevos rancheros. Ranchers' eggs wouldn't sound as flashy on a menu I guess. Lately I've been annoyed by many of these places. I want to go somewhere and relax and eat. I want to be able to talk to the person or persons at my table without having to yell. I'm surrounded by hipsters wearing wool caps in 70 degree temps or women in platform heels and full makeup at 8 in the morning. I really just want to eat good food in comfortable calm surroundings. I don't need to be surrounded by local art or audibly bombarded by some indie band employing a citar and techno beat and signing about freeing Tibet at 8 in the morning. So, I'm always looking for a neighborhood diner with good food and relaxed atmosphere. The Maple Leaf family restaurant in Troy fills this spot. The owners and staff are friendly and responsive. The food is your typical diner food but very good. The restaurant is clean with an attractive design. It's not loud so I can carry on a conversation when with people. They have free Wi-Fi to sit and read or write when eating alone. I love this place. You are not going to get me to say that very often. read more

A great new restaurant that opened by my house. Whenever I am in the mood for a healthy meal and don't have time to cook it myself, I go here. They use fresh vegetables and fresh food. I have a sensitive stomach, and never have issues when I go here. The prices are reasonable and the waitstaff is friendly. It definitely would appear to be a Mom and Pop shop. Another reviewer said their food is like a coney island but better, and I'm going to agree with that, but add that the food is WAY better than a coney island. The Maple Leaf is one of my favorite diners (much better than Coney Island chains). My husband and I normally pop in for breakfast on Saturday mornings. The staff is always friendly and hustling to make sure you are taken care of and the food is delivered piping hot to your table. One time my husband was particularly hungry and kept looking at the kitchen window to see if our food was coming out. The manager came over and apologized for our wait and bought our entire groups' drinks! We only waited maybe 5 or 10 extra minutes than normal, but that is how attentive the service is here. Good quality and good prices will keep us coming here for many years to come! read more

I had the strawberry French toast, which was covered with strawberries, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream and it was really good. I also ordered sausage patties with it, but those were not that good. The meat just wasn't as good as Jimmy Dean or Bob Evans, and it had a minimal amount of flavor. The orange juice was good though-not freshly squeezed, but still tasty. My wife thought her coffee was mediocre at best, but her omelette was huge! The omelette had a great portion of the toppings in it with ham, potatoes, and veggies. The wait staff was great and the owner was extremely friendly and warm when she greeted us upon entering the restaurant. We were seated quickly, the food came out fast and warm, and it was a great value. The only issue was there was a tiny amount of sticky stuff on the table where were sitting, but in the grand scheme of things, that was not a big deal. We will be back! read more

I highly recommend this restaurant - The food is amazing presented on fine dinnerware and looks like it should be on The Food Network. The service is equally amazing as the staff is very polite and professional. The best dining experience in years. The prices are very affordable when you see what you get and how nicely it's presented and how amazing it tastes. I got their Shrimp Stir-Fry (fresh and flavorful) and my friend got the Roast Turkey dinner (not pressed turkey, rather chunks of real turkey, real chunky mashed potatoes, and you could tell the carrots were freshly peeled; the gravy was like silk all over amazing bread. Tried this spot for lunch and it wasn't bad! My sandwich was big and the fries were yummy. The prices were average to a bit higher than the norm but not ridiculous by any means.
