Went here with my wife for breakfast. Not busy at all, plenty of parking and open tables. Wait staff was extremely pleasant, checked up on us frequently and was responsive. I had the Nutella and banana crepes - they were good, not too sweet. I do wish they were a little warmer. My wife had the 2 egg meal, she said it was good, no complaints. Not the type of place to "knock your socks off", not "wowed" but food was good and prices were cheap. Gives me cute little diner vibes. read more

My husband and I popped in the other night for burgers before our movie over at Troy MJR. Waitress was fantastic, very attentive and food was cooked quickly and on our table hit and ready in 7mins tops. We both had burgers--mine was the Maple Burger Deluxe and my husbands was a bacon cheeseburger--and both burgers were cooked to our asking, but were really greasy. Not sure if burgers are cooked in butter? Or maybe it's just a higher fat content meat? Also the batter on the onion rings was weird. I worked as a short order cook for 5 yrs and we get onion rings all the time (my husband loves them!), so I feel "expert" enough to say that there was something off. The batter was so thick that in some spots it actually hardened so much for her it was difficult to bite through, while the onion inside was so tender it was almost falling apart. I'd definitely skip the onion rings. While our service was great and very fast, we felt like the food was just so-so and wouldn't warrant a second visit for us. read more

Don't go here! The manager is rude to customers without first finding out the truth. My group waited about an hour after sitting down at the restaurant to not be served our food until about an hour and a half wait! When we inquired about our order, the manager told us the order was just placed and would take 10mins. But that's wrong we asked about the status of our order about an 1hr into waiting after the waitress took down our order! Because we had a child with us who was hungry we decided to continue waiting. While waiting we asked for a water refill and the manager was rude to us telling us that we can have whatever we want but have to wait our turn because other customers ordered before us and their dishes were easier to make since it's precooked. That's what made me upset! There was no one in the restaurant until after we placed our order! This manager even went out of his way to show us the order timestamp. Come on! Use your brain!! Who puts in the order tickets?! Your waitress does!!! Why not ask her if she put the ticket in late? We did just that! We asked her and she ADMITTED she got busy after taking our order and PUT THE ORDER IN WHEN SHE COULD! So really who's at fault?? DO NOT GO HERE! Neither manager or the waitress apologized for the extreme wait or the rudeness they showed us! Even the kitchen was yelling loudly about being asked why the order is late. Pathetic! read more

Absolutely fantastic choice for a diner. Breakfast, lunch, we have never, ever had a disappointing meal here. Family run, high quality ingredients, food is always hot, service is always friendly. What sets this place apart from your typical Coney Island style diner? The food is waaaay better than most, and it's also very clean inside. We send customers here and bring friends here for lunch on a regular basis and the feedback is always the same, "wow! Great food!" I'd say the son, Eddie is an excellent chef and he seems to really care about what he's serving. If they are out of something it's because the options they had weren't good enough. That said they have a huge menu with tons of options. Their Chicken noodle soup is old school perfection. Any salad or sandwich that features grilled chicken....I'd dare you to find more delicious grilled chicken. read more

Saw this place on Fox 2 in the morning and we decided to stop there after church for breakfast. It's family owned and guess who we saw sitting in the booth behind us? Charlie Langton, Fox 2 news anchor! He and his family raves about the food and said that they had been coming to the restaurant for years. We sat down and ordered our breakfast. We had scrambled egg whites, dry rye toast, eggs over easy, bacon, sausage, ham and a cup of soup. Food was good and service was good. I'll be back! read more

We go here frequently because it is close by and walking distance. The visit last week was so disappointing. As usual I ordered the senior meatloaf. I received 2 of the smallest pieces that looked more like hotdogs covered with gravy than meatloaf. The scoop of corn and mashed potato's came luke warm. My husbands fish was good, but French fries were cold and overcooked. The life saver of the visit was the excellent rice pudding. This restaurant is by far the nastiest and most uncomfortable experiences that ive had at a restaurant. As soon as you walk in you're hit with the rude and dry customer service that goes around the entire restaurant making it very unpleasant. Also the floor is dirty all around with crumbs and food just a very unsanitary environment. When the food came out, it came out cold and it wasn't even the right order, I had asked for scrambled eggs which I made very clear to the waiter and instead I got egg whites. May I add that the wait time for your food at this restaurant is what feels like eternal. Would not recommend to anyone, don't waste your time. read more

How to start, the owner/server is simply amazing. She knows how to treat her customers. She is cheerful and nice. Start a conversation on each table and ask you how everything was every few minutes and when you are checking out. The food is just perfect. The Swiss cheese mushroom omelette had a huge amount of melted Swiss cheese of the good quality and as big of mushroom. If you're looking for typical Coney Island food that's good (for that standard) Maple Leaf would be a great choice. There was nothing impressive to me about this restaurant or their food. Everything was simply average. There's nothing I can really compliment or anything I can really complain about. The service was fine, the food was fine, the ambiance was fine. I would say, for the quantity and quality of their food, the bill was a bit steep. For (2) meals and (2) coffees the bill came out to almost $29... Kind of ridiculous for this type of food. We had never been to this restaurant. The inside was well laid out with comfortable seating and plenty of parking outside. The service was very good. We were served a small dish of sliced pickles when the waitress first greeted us...interesting and delicious. :) My Gyro was excellent! The seasoning on the meat was perfect. The sauce was thick, plentiful and also seasoned perfectly. We ordered onion rings which while they tasted pretty good and were huge I was put off that they were so darn greasy...I know what did I expect, they are onion rings, LOL. Mom ordered an egg salad sandwich. She complained that it had no taste, I tried it and I'll be darned there was no taste to the egg salad, if it had any kind of taste it would be the taste of water; odd. I thought that the lack of taste meant they didn't use mayo or mustard. The toast/bread was good and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. We will be back read more

They seem to use very minimal to no salt and spices, this isnt inheritely bad, it's a personal preference thing. Portions are regular in size (as shown on the photo I posted), although my lunch companion thougt that for a 6'2'' man it was too little. We both ordered full lunch meals. Service was great, attentive and nice. They have a lot of waiters, approx. one per three tables which makes the experience so much better! I'm glad they care. Menus are rich in choices, they offer a huge selection of salads. Interior was clean, neat and well maintained in all aspects. Definitely a superior choice over any other coney island. read more

Maple Leaf is one of my favorite local restaurants to support. Their food is always delicious, especially the fish and chips!

The "manager" here and owner were extremely abrasive and unaccommodating in regards to missing items for our work order. Items listed as INCLUDED on their menu with a meal was not given to us at our carry out pick up. Which is no problem accidents happen but when my coworker called to let them know it was missed on 2 orders the "manager" did not apologize and blamed us essentially stating "we needed to say we wanted that item specifically"- she also rudely said this to me as well when I had to make the second trip there. We both told her we would never know to tell them we want an item included in the meal and LISTED BY THE RESTAURANT AS "INCLUDED". She then told me she could only give me one of the side items Not the TWO WE PAID FOR. Super bizarre, rude and unnecessary. Totally wasted our time and money with this runaround. To top it off the owner comes out- also loud and abrasive- which was adding to the irritating situation. It's not our fault you messed up, blamed us for the mistake, tried to them give 1/2 items that were ALREADY PAID FOR and then got loud with a customer with a valid complaint. We felt super uncomfortable with their behavior. Two waitresses were very nice and understanding. read more

I stopped in for lunch for the first time today and while the food was decent, the service was terrible. They weren't extremely busy but my server never came back to my table after delivering my meal so I was left needing a refill and extra napkins. When she finally saw that I was done and waiting with my credit card out (lunch hour, limited time) she finally asked if I needed anything else. I requested a refill in a to go cup and my bill. She brought those and I realized she charged me 2.45 extra for the pop refill. When I approached the (owner/manager) running the register he said refills are only for dine in. I let him know that I was never offered a refill while I was dining and he said well nothing is free. I paid for it and said I won't be returning. I was extremely polite and he was dismissive and obviously not concerned about my business. Somehow my $9.95 lunch special ended up costing $14.00. I left feeling robbed. I work in the area and will never return there. read more

I've made multiple trips to the maple leaf in the past few months enjoying both breakfast and dinner. The first thing I noticed in this place is that the staff is so nice. They're always kind and curtious. The real stunner is the food, especially breakfast food. Omelettes, pancakes, whatever you like, it's good here. The coffee is grade A too. Typically, breakfast joints don't have the best coffee in my opinion. Also, I don't want the maple leaf shaped syrup bottles to go unnoticed. I love those things!! As with many of my food adventures, I stopped at this place on an impulse. I required food and they served food. Moreover, the parking lot was relatively busy for an early Saturday afternoon. Always a good sign. I was definately not disappointed. The place is your basic diner/coney, but with nicer decor and a better menu. The place is also remarkably clean, which is a plus. I had a bowl of chili and a sandwich. The chili was clearly homemade, and the sandwich was good, with a generous amount of sandwich filling. Hubby had a burger, and reported that it was good. Maple Leaf Family Restaurant is a decent family diner with good food, reasonable pricing and sufficient staff. Everything on their menu is terrific, but I particularly love their chopped salads, which taste fresh and have quality ingredients like grilled chicken to order and homemade dressings. Their onion rings are particularly fun to order because they serve them in a tower form and are hot, crispy and flavorful. Is they the healthiest choice? Not at all. But, do we really have to be healthy all the time? Who cares, as long as it taste good, right? Anyway, check it out if ever in the area! The food is all the favorites you expect, but better. read more
