Dined at the Maple Tree Supper Club the other evening; will say good food, and great value for the money. The service was fast & friendly with a Wisconsin Supper Club vibe. I would add that although MTSC has been around since 1950, the interior is quite updated with a much 'newer' feel that some of the olde school places your grandparents might have attended that haven't been remodeled since Mary Tyler Moore was on TV ;)

Probably the best Supper Club we have been to. They do not take reservations on the weekend but the staff keeps things moving so the wait isn't too bad. They have a salad bar that seems to be a favorite. I had the fish fry and my daughter had the breasted chicken. Of course Cheese Curds were our choice of appetizer. We always go when I am in Wisconsin and definitely would recommend.

After doing a Yelp search for supper clubs, the Maple Tree popped up in our route so we said what the heck. When we arrived we were met by a very large, very full parking lot. Not a good start. Made it inside and the host said it was only about a 1/2 wait which was quite surprising. Found two seats at the bar and started our night. Bartender was very nice and made really good old fashions. We had a sweet brandy and a whiskey sour old fashions and the were on par with any other big name supper clubs. I was alittle skeptical at first since it really didn't have the old school supper club look, but I soon found out, looks are deceiving! Got our booth in about the 1/2 hour we were told and had an amazing server who greeted us with, "Are you ready for supper yet?" First time ever I'd heard that at a supper club! She was wonderful, funny and took excellent care of us! As for the food, the pictures show everything there is to say. Very good, nice size helping and a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

My very first Wisconsin supper club. This place was ab absolute gem, and I'd love to go back. We waited about 15 minutes since we went after the main rush. We had a friendly server that was friendly, quick, and efficient. She was absolutely busting her butt waiting on tables. 2 of us ordered broasted chicken special, and the third ordered ribs and chicken. Mashed potatoes and baked potatoes on the side. The salad bar was great, and it had pickled beets, which are hard to find! I loved the homemade croutons, and the soups were fantastic! We also had pink squirrels and a grasshopper for drinks. The restaurant is no frills but cozy and inviting.

Honestly felt more like a normal restaurant than a supper club. Service good and food decent; nothing bad to say but nothing really stood out either, besides the salad bar having fresher greens than most places.

The steak had a very odd aftertaste to it unfortunately. The lobster was fine - not the best but not the worst.

Brandy Alexander - fit for a spoon :)

I've been wanting to come here for so long, and finally made it for a Friday night fish fry! We came early so that we could get a seat reasonably quickly. I think we arrived around 4:30pm and were seated by 5:30pm or so. We grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. The bar space is large and has a decent amount of seating and standing room. Once seated I ordered the cod fish fry (no brainer) which came with a soup/salad bar (love this, it brings me back to childhood) and potato plus yummy bread. They had a light breading option which was definitely a hit. I enjoyed my food and we had great service. I don't frequently order dessert, but I am a sucker for a brandy alexander if they can make it to a thick consistency requiring a spoon to eat it. And Maple Tree delivered. Our server explained that the thicker it was the lighter they had to go on the alcohol, but that's fine because ice cream is delicious. I cannot wait to go back and order another one.

It's an utter shame how terrible Dane County is about making lake/water space accessible to the public (one thing Chicago does way better than Wisconisn, unfortunately), but Water Street Tavern totally gives me the waterfront dining fix. It's along the river, not the lake, which gives it a bit more of an intimate feel to it. Their outdoor space is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend checking it out. We came here for our monthly fish fry, never having been here before. We came around 5:30p on a Friday and were told no indoor tables until about 8pm. It was a tad chilly out but we opted for the immediate outdoor table. There is a fireplace out there, but it's more aesthetic than anything, it provided no heat our way but we were find with sweaters. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and super fun to chat with. I wish they had your basic cod on the fish fry menu - and I was surprised they didn't - but I opted for the walleye instead. It's one very large piece but it was pretty good! Crunhcier breading but not excessive. I enjoyed the house old fashioned. I wish they had supper club boozy ice cream dessert drinks, but they don't so I opted for a cocktail as dessert instead. My dining mates got the cheesecake and ate the whole thing. We left around 7:15pm and it was empty inside, not sure what happened there, but either way I'm glad we ended up outside and I will definitely be back here more often now that I've discovered this wonderful place!

It was pretty busy at lunch time on a weekend, but luckily we were able to snag seats at the bar. The staff were very friendly and attentive, kindly offering recommendations. I loved that the menu offered both elevated takes on classic dishes in addition to a rotating seasonal menu. Eventually, we decided on the kimchi reuben and the Vindicator, which was essentially a turkey club. There was a great selection of sides to choose from as well, so we went with the wasabi green beans and seasonal lemon zucchini pasta salad. The turkey club was served on sourdough from an amazing artisan bakery down the street, and was absolutely stacked with delicious, high quality ingredients. A large slab of melted cheddar paired perfectly with a smoky chipotle aioli, which almost tasted like bacon. The reuben was also super unique- all of the flavors came together very well, and I loved the contrast of having refreshing kimchi to cut through the decadent Swiss and pastrami. The pasta salad was dangerously addictive and had the creamiest lemon Parmesan dressing. I thought the green beans were crunchy and well cooked, but didn't really taste any wasabi. We left full with leftovers, and felt that the value was great given the quality and quantity of the dishes. I would absolutely be back given the chance, and highly recommend paying a visit!

The place had a decent lunch crowd, but was by no means packed, so we figured it would be quick to get food for the kids. Our waitress came to get our drink order pretty quick, but then service slowed for receiving our drinks, ordering food, getting our food, and getting her attention for a to-go box and our bill. As for the food, we ordered the Bangor, which had shrimp and haddock and choice of two sides where we chose the corn muffins and beans. We also got the Nashville hot chicken sliders with sweet potato fries, kids chicken tenders, and kids burger with fries. The kids meals were both quite generous portions, especially the chicken tenders. The tenders were nice and juicy with a crisp exterior and one of the best things ordered. The kids burger was overly charred and had a little burnt taste, so the child wouldn't eat it and ended up eating the shrimp from the other meal instead. The Nashville hot sliders were decent sandwiches and quite large, but were by no means Nashville hot, more like somewhere between mild to medium spice. The sweet potato fries were great though and went well with their bbq sauces. The fish and shrimp received mixed reviews from the two people that ordered it. The corn muffins were definitely something that we would get again and also worked great with the bbq sauces. Overall, it was fine with some good and some not so good. The price is a little higher than some restaurants with similar offerings, but the portions are quite large, so maybe that's the tradeoff. Not sure if this is going to get added to our rotation, but they did seem to have some good happy hour deals, so maybe for that.
