I had a toilet that was draining slowly. They failed to fix the issue the first time and had to come back, then charged me full labor costs for both visits. They said they discounted me the "travel time". (Do plumbers usually charge for that?!!!) I would have appreciated a discount on the failed first visit but they refused. read more

I had a washer delievered and installed by Costco which caused an issue with the spiget plumbing and Costco said was my problem. I called Maples who had been really professional installing a watter heater for me a couple of years ago. They came and said it was a washer issue, fixed it and said no charge. I probably should have reviewed the Yelp reviews before calling Maples Plumbing. I had asked them to perform a sewer cleanout, which the previous owners of the company had been doing every six months for the last decade or so. Maples couldn't locate the cleanout because it had been covered up with mulch from the landscaper, and then wanted to charge me $300 for absolutely no work performed! After some back and forth, I negotiated it down to $100. But that's still $100 for absolutely no work. It's strange, because a plumber that wanted my business for the next 10+ years on this rental property would have made a minimum of $6K plus any other plumbing work that needed to be completed. Instead, Maples was willing to sever our relationship for a measly $100. That seems like a pretty poor business decision. That being said, perhaps I should thank Maples because, based on the other reviews I've seen, it looks like I really dodged a bullet with this company. read more

Today Maples installed a Moen Flo Detection device required by my insurance company. The device is $600 on Amazon and Maples charges $1525. Their first quote was $1400, it went up between checking job site and installing device. He gave me Moen directions to register on Moen website. I asked if he would do it and he said they were not trained. 20 steps into that installation I gave up! Nice people. Wayyyyyyyyy too expensive and short on service! read more

This review is months late, but worth sharing...A friend recommended Maples Plumbing and Heating to me (specifically for water heater issues). She advised me to request Wesley, which I did. My water heater had been making terrible and frightening knocking sounds. He located the issue, ordered the necessary part and went and picked it up. While he was here, he was working *very quickly* but efficiently. Maples had told me how much they charge per hour, so the fee at the end was not a surprise, and I felt that Wesley was cognizant of the hourly rate/cost to the customer and made it a point to work efficiently. Called them for a problem with my furnace, gave the the model number and had them show up to fix it. The tech did one hell of a job, order a new part that didn't work and left me without heat during the winter season. Wanted to charge me for a part I never saw, and he said it broke, plus cut all the wires to my furnace rendering it useless. Had another company come in and were able to connect and start the furnace again. Unfortunately the Maple's tech did more damage than good. I have used them for over 2 years and this week they resolved my water pressure issues by installing a PRV (Pressure Regulator Valve) as we had hammer sounds throughout the house. The water lines are under our slab foundation. They also solved an issue with a loud hammer sound from the water outlet that connects to the refrigerator. The installer who put in the hose used a very long one and we determined this was the cause, replaced it with a smaller hose and the noise was gone. I did call another plumber to get an estimate for the hammering sounds through out the house and they said I would only need a hammer arrester valve which would require cutting into the wall and they wanted to charge me for a "free estimate", and this would not solve the problem! Maples replaced a 29 year old 30 gal water heater with a new 40 gal one. The new one was an appropriate size but took some extra effort to get it installed in the existing space properly. Undoing some of the ancient connections took some effort also. They did an excellent job all around. Response to my initial contact was quick and followed up on. The entire job was completed in a timely manner, they made sure everything was operating properly before they left, all was cleaned up so the floors and adjacent walls were spotless. Charged $700.00, for 4 hours of work. Took 2 days to complete the job. The first day the technician spend an hour flicking the lighter trying to light the pilot light on the water heater. Explained it would not light. I guess because they are paid per hour, he didn't find a urgency. Refused to listen to the homeowner, who said several people tried. The first day took 2 hours. The second day was charged for another 2 hours to install the actual part. When presented with the bill, he said he tried to get the job finished as fast as possible. Called Maples in the afternoon to get an estimate on installation on a new tankless water heater and also the removal of a regular water heater that was in my hallway of my home. Someone was able to come out the next day in the morning and gave me a very reasonable price for all the work that had to be done. The plumbers who came out to do the job were done within one day of not only the removal of the old water heater but also installing the new tankless with new piping for the water and gas lines. The job was done beautifully only taking up a little part of my garage wall and everything works perfectly. The plumbers were very personable and knowledgeable educating me how to change the temperature settings once they had finished. I plan to use Maples for all future jobs in my new home because they did such a good job and in a timely manner. read more

This is more for people in the Bodega Bay area . Even though I know they do work all over Sonoma county. I have an Air BnB that I was having problems with the toilets flushing and did not realize it until the Friday before a weekend rental. I called Maples Plumbing Friday morning and they were able to get someone out by 12 noon that same day. Unfortunately one of the toilets needed to be replaced. The other was an easy fix. It was great team work as Will was working on the toilet that could be fixed their shop manager delivered a new toilet to our property. They were efficient and clean. Do you want to be "up sold" the latest untested technology then this is the company for you. We spent $2700 of the newest high efficiency hot water heater ten years ago. Last week it failed. PG&E tells us they see this type of heater failing all the time around the county. We thought we were doing the right thing, paying more for 95% efficiency. Maples' estimate to fix the system was $1000.00. We had the whole system torn out and replaced by another company for $1400. Live and learn. don't buy untested technologies. Avoid Maples. read more

They were scheduled for 10:00 AM yesterday, a Thursday. They showed up at 2:45. They said they didn't have the necessary tools and would need to come back. I called at 9:30 this morning (Friday) asking where they were. Finally got an answer at 11:00. They could put in a 1/2 day today and return on Monday to finish the job, giving an estimate of "about four thousand dollars" or come on Tuesday and fix it for "about one thousand dollars." I told them to come on Tuesday but that I was a long-standing Maples client and that I was very unhappy with this service. A few minutes later a supervisor called telling me I need to find another plumber to do the job; they didn't want to do it. read more

A wall-unit style heater stopped working, so I called these people based on nothing but the look of their yellow pages ad. I know, I know. I tried calling one of those places that advertise themselves to be "enviro-friendy", but they were so stupid and unresponsive, I figured "let's kick it old school". So here's the way these people work (and I use the term loosely): Called them to come out to the house, and they said there's an $87.50 diagnosis charge, which will apply toward any repairs. Okay. They come out, take a look and say the pilot valve is shot and the unit needs to be replaced. Fine. When can you do it? "Two weeks". Well, it is pretty cold out, but I've got a space heater so I figure okay. They come out, spend a few hours removing the old and replacing it with a new, BUT once its hooked up, some pipe on the new unit isn't working. The guy says "well, we've got another one in stock, so I'll have the office call you when we can put it in". Next day the office calls. "Five days". FIVE DAYS TO REPLACE YOUR FAULTY PRODUCT? "Yes, that's the soonest we can do it". Just so you know, this was the week we had record freezing temps in Sonoma. By the way, the "new" unit was TWICE AS WIDE as the old unit, putting the side vents about 3 inches from a wall. I called my landlord to mention this to make sure she knew this. No, she didn't, so she calls Maples to make sure they're putting in the right unit. Oh, and they left a bunch of vinyl packaging straps in my driveway, which was a nice gesture, since you can never have enough of those. So they come out the evening of the fourth day (half a star for being early), replace the unit and then leave. The thermostat won't work. Bye-bye half a star. And they left the owner's manual/warranty outside on the patio table. In the rain. It's the owners manual that says in bold type on the cover to make sure to give it to the customer. Oh, and they also left some metal packaging in my driveway. Next day, I call the office and demand they come out NOW and fix it. They do. Well, they come out to the house anyway. The guy doing the repairs regales me with stories of how the first guy who put the unit in there is not very good and how HE has to go around and fix this guys work. And how none of the installers are on a straight salary, but on a per job basis against a draw or some such story. As you can imagine, I feel VERY confident about the quality of the work being performed here. I give this guy the soaked owner manual and ask him to have the office replace it. He says he sure will and he's sorry, but that's that other guy for ya, heh heh. This guy must be new, though, because he didn't leave anything in my driveway. So, I call the office the next morning and tell them the soggy warranty story, and she says we'll get a new one right out to ya. I'll spare you the details of the sloppy spackling of the holes from the old unit and how I had to wait another week for a drywall contractor to come out and fix it, but I think you're getting the picture here. Oh, and the thermostat still doesn't work quite right, The room is 70 degrees when the thermostat is set on 60, and the heats still blasting. I'm still waiting on them to come back and fix that. Don't leave yet, we're not done. They never applied the $87.50 diagnostic fee to the bill. And I'm sure that warranty packet will arrive any day now. UPDATE! 10.1.15 THESE PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY DANGEROUS! I just had PG&E come out to re-light the pilot, and it turns out they can't because a glass part that filters out carbon monoxide from coming into the room was shattered. Why? Because the unit has been repeatedly overheating and the metal parts that house the glass part had burnt. Why? Because the heater is over twice the BTU's the room needs. So, in addition to the incompetence, sloppy work, and horrible customer service, you can add avarice and sleazy business practices to their "core values". I won't bore you with the dangers of the long-term breathing of low-levels of carbon monoxide, but I've been told I have the grounds for a lawsuit. PLEASE BEWARE OF THESE GUYS! BEWARE!!! What a hot mess this experience was. The two men who showed up to install were extremely rude when I asked them to wear shoe covers and mask up- even though I asked about this when I booked the appointment and was told it was no problem. They didn't have any shoe covers with them and refused to get them. Then, while installing, they dropped multiple f-bombs in front of my children. When they left, I thought I could smell gas, but at the time we were having lots of construction done on our house with lots of different smells so let it slide for a bit. We finally called PG&E once all the other crews had left and we're still smelling the gas faintly. Well, guess what?? Turns out NONE of the hoses were attached all the way!!!! Like they put them on and then walked away without tightening them!!! THEN, when my husband went in to talk to the company, they were SO RUDE and tried to deny everything! Kayden was sent out to find a massive leak. The city of Sebastopol had shut off my water system to the entire house, as I am handicapped I was concerned as to how I would manage. Mapleservice was the only company willing to come out that day and try to locate the leak. Kayden quickly discovered the problem, isolated the turn off in that area, and restored the water system to my home. I highly recommend this company. SUCKS!!! They were the pre-eminent plumbers in Eureka but our experience in Windsor was terrible. They came out to replace a water heater and we decided to splurge and go with them to get the better unit and better service. They installed the first unit and it leaked all over our garage, the source line was bad, they replaced it but somehow busted the intake into the water heater = more leaking water. They then tried to use pipe dope to fix it and thought we would accept it. We refused, the replaced the whole unit with a banged up unit. We were now out of hot water for almost 4 days! We had enough, let them install the dented one, and will blab to anyone about how terrible Wayne Maples Plumbing is!!! read more
