First, they took two days to get back to me on a problem that was on-going (toilet would not stop running) When they did, they sent a techniciant (Lazlo) who was curt and tried to upsale me. For example : He said it would tak $600 to fix, and when I asked him how much to just replace the toilet, he said $1300. Money is tight, and he showed no empathy in that regard. He told me he would need to be paid immediately, rather than sending me an invoice. And he was not friendly, or particulary sympathic to the cost I may be facing. He said he had to pull out the toilet to repair it, and the labor of that and replacing it would be a lot of money. I let him go, and called Advanced plumbing. They were here in a matter of hours (vs the two day wait from Discount) , came and fixed the problem without pulling out the toilet, to a total charge of $300. I've learned over time that a lot of these guys are trying to scam you and run up the bill. My advice is to shop around, and certainly don't deal with a serviceman who is less than professional, trying to increase your spending, and generally gives you a bad impression. Obviously, Discount plumbine (a misnomer) is off my list.

The shower spout was repaired that day. For the toilet flange, I was told it needed to be replaced & repositioned and I needed a new toilet. I was quoted $3583 and told it would take 3-4 hours to completed. Based on the scope of work, it seemed to be a reasonable estimate. When the plumber arrive the following week to do the work, it took 1.5 hours. I inquired about a reduction in price since it took less than half the time. I was told no. Not feeling comfortable with that, I reached out asking what the hourly rate was. Instead of answering my question, I was told that some plumbers are more efficient and I wouldn't be charged more if it took longer etc etc. I was given an option to discuss the details of the estimate via email. I then received a phone call about my concerns. I was told they would look at a $1088 charge and get back to me the next day. 2 days later I received a voicemail that I was overcharged and would receive a $585 refund. Still no explanation for what & no breakdown of charges. Now I wonder what else was I overcharged for? What is the hourly rate? How can the plumber that gave the estimate be so wrong about the time the work would take?

I 100% beg you not to go with this company. The word "discount" in their company name is the EXACT OPPOSITE!! I had a small slow leak in my unused shower that backed up to my closet - it took me quite a long time to identify it. It had caused "electrolysis" Bettina to my copper pipes which was immediately obvious to my other estimates yet discount's estimator couldn't tell me if the leak was from a sink or shower pipe despite the obvious greened copper . I then hired two other plumbers to come out and snake it, and neither was successful. One of them even told me I needed to redo a good portion of my plumbing for over $5,000! I found Rock Solid Drains after that, and they told me that all they do is unclog drains and that they have the equipment necessary to clear difficult washer/utility sink drain clogs. John from their team came out and within about 15-30 minutes had run a snake through our washing machine drain line, cleared the blockage, and had our plumbing working exactly as it should again. These guys are great if you have a drain clog that you can't clear yourself or that a normal plumber doesn't have the right equipment to handle. We recently had the pleasure of working with Sbragia Septic Service during the purchase of a large…read moreproperty in Petaluma, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. My clients were purchasing a property with an existing septic system, but the seller was unable to provide any meaningful information about its condition or layout. John, the owner of Sbragia Septic Service, personally answered our call and promptly scheduled the inspection. During the initial inspection, John had to dig down 2' in compact gravel to access heavy concrete access covers. Once uncovered, he pumped the holding tanks and snaked a video camera through the system. The video system was clear, showing multiple significant issues, including failed baffle walls, a broken outlet pipe leading to the first distribution box that had been improperly installed, and a failed first distribution box that prevented him from further completing the inspection. When John returned the following week to begin the repairs, the scope of the project became significantly larger. He had to cut through asphalt that had been laid directly over the outlet pipe and one distribution box. As the work progressed, he uncovered six additional distribution boxes, one of which had completely failed. He also found several leach lines clogged with roots and encountered multiple water lines that had been installed along the septic system that were broken during the excavation process. Despite the unexpected challenges, John and his crew worked tirelessly until 8:00 PM that evening to complete the repairs. They came fully equipped, sourced the necessary replacement parts for an older septic system, and handled every obstacle with professionalism, expertise, and determination.
