Our old water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. I called Economy Plumbing because I had used them a few years ago and they did a good job. Their office person was great. She set up an appointment for the next day - but called back when she had a cancellation and they could come over now. I said great and Nick the plumber came and gave me an estimate for the job. It was higher than what I hoped for - but I know everything is more expensive these days. Nick did a great job, and everything was done up to code. He was efficient and cleaned up after his work and took the old water heater away. I have no problem recommending Economy Plumbing. I am a real customer and not a friend or relative. read more

March 18, 2025, Economy pre-charged us $450 to do a Backflow test (required by City of Santa Rosa each year) at a commercial property in S.R. The backflow technician went to the job site and reported back that the test had failed. Economy sent a quote for work to fix the supposed problem. They would charge an additional $2000. At that point I contacted another company, Pumpman, who had done work at my home previously. On the phone Pumpman said that usually all that's required is some clean-out, pretty minimal, certainly NOT $2000. Cut to the chase... Pumpman tech went to the job site. I met the tech there. He did some clean out, got a passing test. Charged a total of $100! Additionally, Economy had charged $450 because the City of S.R. was requiring a backflow test on both the domestic and fire lines, hence the $450 charge (2 line tests). Previously, in 2023, Economy had only charged $150. They upped their price in 2024, saying that 2023 only required one line test, but 2024 now required a fire line test, so price went up from $150 to $450. In 2024 supposedly both lines passed the test. However, with this 2025 problem with the test, it came to my attention, thanks to Pumpman, that it was actually impossible to do a backflow test on the fire line because although the line is installed (for a future sprinkler system), that system is not installed. That means the line is not hooked up so the backflow test simply isn't possible. The City of Santa Rosa acknowledged this, and therefore, only one backflow test is required. This raised the question as to how Economy supposedly tested the fireline back in 2024. They charged for two line tests, the $450 instead of $150, but apparently reported that they did both tests and one would assume, reported both tests passed. However, as noted above, the fire line simply cannot be tested. My conclusion, I made a huge mistake not shopping around in the first place when I first had Economy do the test back in 2023, and then again in 2024 when their price almost tripled. Economy was included on the City's list of licensed contractors. I was new to the world of Santa Rosa city water, with this building, so just went with a contractor near the job site. My bad. But, beyond that, my experience with Economy ensures that I will NEVER do business with them again. In hindsight I now know that they overcharge and are not to be trusted with their work or bids. If you think of using them I'd say "buyer beware" and make sure you shop around for another bid or another opinion before you contract with them. Pumpman was a great alternative for us. read more

The plumber came and charged $300 to go under the house to see what needed to be done. He came other and said there were no leaks. We got another plumber who told us that there was a pipe that was partly disconnected and showed us photos. Economy plumbing charged 300 to look and obviously never crawled the whole area. And after realizing just snaking it wasn't solving the problem they were able to re-pipe the line! Best part is they were quick, courteous and a great price!!! Most times when you need a water heater replacement, its an emergency and you don't have the luxury of shopping and making sound judgements. This was my situation and I did shop and made a great choice in hiring Economy Plumbing to replace my water heater. I was lucky and spoke with Susan Jensen, the owner, who with her professional staff arranged to have a technician come out and make an assessment. They offered to come out the same day but I deferred as I needed time to clear the area in my garage....It's amazing how we can clutter areas, like a garage!! so I scheduled the technician and Joe came out and quickly drained, removed, installed a new heater in the most efficient manner possible. EXORBORANT PRICING Last week I called Economy Plumbing as I had a stoppage in my sink. I was appreciative they were able to come out the next day and snake my drain. The time to do this part of the job was about 15 mins. The cost was $375.00. We also noticed a leak on my garbage disposal and decided to change it out. The charge was another $400.00. I felt it was overpriced and confirmed after they left. I checked on line and the garbage disposal cost was $115.00. The total bill was $796.00. He was at my house for about an 1 1/2. Essentially they charged me $400+ an hour just for labor. I then called some of their competitors and got quotes and overall, for the same job, was quoted on average $300 less than they charged me. I feel taken advantage of. I decided to call them to state my concerns. I was told the owner would call me. It has been several days and no call back. I feel ripped off. The water filtration system under my kitchen sink was leaking. This also caused my ice maker to stop working. I had used Economy Plumbing for an issue before so I thought I would start there. Jason came out at the most convenient time for me, made an assessment and recommended that I get a couple of estimates from water filtration companies. He did not charge me for his time or his advice. There was no trip charge. He gave me some idea of what I might expect to pay and told me that he would trust both of the companies he referred me to for estimates. He gave me his card and told me I could call him if I had any concerns. He shut off my leaking system which allowed me to take my time getting estimates. This company was originally recommended to me by my handyman who does not do major plumbing. He said that his clients have been very happy with their service. How great is that? Katie took my call and listened to my plumbing problems and said she could get Cody out to my house the next day, she gave me the time window which worked best for my schedule. She was very confident Cody could take care of the problems. Surprisingly Cody Batten called me before the scheduled window of the service time and gave me his ETA. When he came he surveyed the problems and went right to work, the whole time explaining what he was doing. Such a nice young man. TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. If you value your time, do not use Economy Plumbing. I called and made an appointment - they gave me a window: the plumber would arrive on Monday between 6 and 7. So I return home early on Monday to meet them. 7pm rolls around and no plumber has arrived, and no call to warn me. So I call them back, and they tell me that the plumbers are out on emergency calls, and would i like to reschedule. Why would i bother rescheduling if these guys can't be faithful to their scheduled times??? DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. read more

Do not let these people test your backflow device. Don't let them get within 100 yards of it actually. They charged $150 to test a brand new backflow valve installed by a reputable plumber. They failed it. Gave no reason. Took 3 days to get an explanation as the city threatened to turn off water. Called a different tester who passed it for $40 without issue. Then they called back and wanted $250 to tear a new valve apart and clean it out. Then they wanted the $150 again to re test it. The other guy would have charged $20 to clean it out real fast and no re test, but had no need as it passed immediately. This is literally a scam. They should be ashamed of themselves. Their plumber fixed a leak for $120 that another company wanted more than $5000 to fix. Really appreciate their honesty and getting me out of a major jam with a potentially huge financial outlay. Only reason why not 5 stars is I only had this one very brief encounter with them, and the plumber couldn't come up with a diagnosis for my very noisy pipes when the sprinklers were activated. From what I understand all Plumbing Companies are payable by the labor hour. In other words...the plumber comes out at an estimated hourly rate of, lets say, $150.00 an hr. Doesn't even deserve one star. Called and a young man came out (reeking of pot) to fix a kitchen sink that wouldn't drain. He charged over $300 to replace the faucet!!! That didn't even need to be replaced and the sink still didn't drain. Called a different company that came out same day, fixed the problem for half the price. Called for help with a dripping hot water handle in the shower. Young man arrived (very nice person), but he did not have the right washer for the older shower head and handles. He drove from hardware store to hardware store, looking for the part, and finally found what he needed. I was charged for the three hours he took to find the part (which cost less than $1) and took him less than 15 minutes to repair. My bill $450...I was charged for his day of driving around. I was very happy with their services. The young man who came out was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and focused. I needed a new kitchen faucet and a new water shut-off under my kitchen sink. The company sent someone out within a day or so of my non-emergency call, and when the plumber got hung-up on the previous job, the friendly office staff notified me right away and then called me when he was on his way. I have used them numerous times over the years and have consistently found them to be professional, competitively priced, and very knowledgeable. Was not very happy with the service we received from them. They were 3 hours late and barely somewhat supposedly fixed a problem with our toilet that later had to call them back since it continued doing what it began doing. They were only there for about 5 minutes if that. And the cost was ridiculous to add and would not give a discount for being late either. After they returned to fix the problem they charged us for the part and the toilet still had the problem. They finally sent us back the check for the part and the part after swapping it out for our old one. We had to buy a new toilet to boot. read more

I called Economy Plumbing on a Monday morning with a sewer main line backup, I was told they would be at my house between 1:00 - 3:00pm the same day. At 3:00pm they called and said we were next on the list, at 4:30pm they called back and said they were sorry they were still on the other job and couldn't come until the following day. I feel like they held me hostage all day so that I wouldn't call another company! I did call Rapid Rotter out of Healdsburg they came out right away as I had an emergency and charged less than the I hour minimum $140.00 quoted be Economy plumbing. We called Economy this morning for clogged pipe. They gave us a time between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Since this was earlier than the 3:00 pm time that Roto Router gave we went with Economy. At 12:45 they said they wouldn't be out until 2:30 to 3:00. They arrived at 3:15. The plumber looked at the job and said it was too complicated. He called the office and they concurred that he shouldn't take the job since he would have to go under the house (where the plumbing is by the way). He said he would have to charge us if he tried but Roto Router had other equipment and would do whatever it took to do the job. I take this as words to the wise. I have rescheduled with Roto Router but now they can't come until tomorrow leaving us without showers of toilets. Beware if you put your trust in this company. read more
