The vehicle was then stuck in Chicago for 4 WEEKS. They failed to follow warranty processes of car manufacturers and tried to tell me they couldn't get it serviced until April 14th. I called the manufacturer and they got the service appointment moved up to March 19 (three business days after I called). The manufacturer had to do everything to get the situation resolved as CarMax didn't help but tried to claim credit that their team got the appointment moved up. CarMax got the vehicle back on March 24th and couldn't get transportation arranged for 4 days. Remember they originally shipped it out in one day but the local General Manager tried to tell me it was so extremely complex to ship this vehicle thus the delay. The vehicle is still not here five weeks after purchase; Chicago is only 6 hours from us. I will never buy another vehicle from them again. We have to ask for updates while everyone up to the store manager just makes excuses. If it weren't for the EV configuration, I would have bought from someone else a month ago.

Let me start by saying it's been a HORRID last 2 years for me. From losing a job (FOUND A NEW…read moreONE!), not having an apartment work out and moving back home with my parents, lost my only car from a crash, and having to walk to work in -20 weather everyday during winter 5 days a week. I tried so hard. I felt like giving up. Everything I thought I had was gone. It all went downhill. I decided to save and chance it going to buy a new car. My team at Carmax worked their tails off. It felt like my hopes at first were low due to being rejected by almost ALL car companies. (Ford, chevy, VW, ect!) CarMax made my process easier than the others! But why? I used the app to find my prequalified options and finally found the ONE! She was a beauty. I said to myself "that's my car" I still cringed at the thought of rejection hence my credit score, REPO history I was trying to grow and overcome... within the minutes of finding the car, I did a loan application. I kid you not 3 minutes later I have a blue sparkly screen that said "CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED" I cried.... it worked fast for me. I was shocked. I was astounded by how fast the application was and approval and how EASY. The next day at work I was getting eager and nervous and doubtful still! Like "maybe it was fake?" So I read reviews and of course all companies have them. You can't honestly base someone else's experience off yours. So I doubted half the fake reviews that consisted of people probably never bought a car from them anyway! Bianca from the team called me to catch up and confirm the process to tell me how things were going. She even asked me how I was doing and how she was excited to say it was approved.... Soon after Brianna a sales rep called and confirmed and told me I needed insurance on the car & a deposit and I could come in. So I agreed and said I'll do it in the morning. The morning comes I get eager, I buy the insurance hoping to god it wasn't fake or false hope because the application, it was just simple and fast. My other dealership experience with ford was 4+ hours!!!!! I got eager & called CarMax and said "it's done" and I'm eager for the car. CarMax people called me back saying "COME IN ITS READY!" So I drove 2 hours to the CarMax my car was at. On my way down about 1 hour in JOHN from CarMax said "I'm sending a fast application so we can hurry the process and get you in your car fast!" John was amazing. He listened to me rant how excited and how far I'm coming for my car. John listened to me on the phone and it was the most humane conversation I had with someone in a long time. It was my 1 good thing that's happened to me in a whole 2 years. It felt like a true "CarMax Miracle " I had a giant bow on my car when I turned around!!! It was so beautiful. My heart melted. I felt relieved. I could breath for once and go home in my car!!! We go in and finish my down payment & he handed me the keys. I drove off with the biggest grin! what I received was the best customer service & professional opinion/help. I have never doubted the experienced staff at CarMax I never doubted the team/business. I doubted myself. And I never doubt Anyone at CarMax because The integrity, courage and pride is all attributes that were displayed. when in hopes to purchase a car, I will never doubt CarMax with professionalism. In this case, it was about Helping me and making my life a little bit more better. NOT ONCE WAS IT The dealer saying "this car" or "you are only allowed this car" or something the dealer wants to sell you. It was all WHAT I WANTED. I've been to about 8 dealers both corporate & local. This was the FIRST THAT DID NOT SELL ME A CAR BUT SOLD ME A FRIENDSHIP AND LOYALTY. I PROMISE YOU CAN WALK IN AND YOU WONT BE SHOVED IN A CAR YOU HATE OR DON'T EVEN LIKE. YOU made my life better. I can now go to work with ease and go home not freezing and crying from exhaustion. I CAN GO HOME TO VISIT MY FAMILY. Thank you. P.s thank you for the free snacks and drinks provided by my CarMax CarMax, Maplewood, MN & online services. I love my new Car

I brought my Chevy Equinox 2020 in due to a check engine light coming on after the freezing temperatures as I had purchased my extended warranty through them when buying out my lease. They had no issues ripping me off for the $200 diagnostic fee after going in with a common code P0299 that this make and model see in cold weather. I told Scott, my "service advisor" all about the code and error message my vehicle displayed. He said they'd need to take it in and run diagnostics. I brought my car in at 7am and got a call around 2:46pm. I was told about "all this work" that needed to be done and that my warranty would not cover it and it would cost $2,200 to fix everything. I was shocked but something didn't sit right. I told them no, I'd go some where else. I called the warranty provider Zurich to ask some questions. They found NO RECORD of a claim being filed OR record that anyone besides me called to discuss my coverage so fun fact, the dealership LIED about calling but were obviously familiar enough with my issue to know it wasn't covered. They still had to audacity to charge me the $200 diagnostic fee! AGAIN which was presented to Scott from the beginning. To make the matter worse, I called a local family owned garage to explain my issue. Over the phone the shop owner asked me about the code and error... he then said this is a known issue with my make and model vehicle and as long as that is the issue the fix would be a $9 part and about an hour tops for labor. He also provided a GM alert that was sent to his shop THREE YEARS ago about this issue and printed it for me. I am not a mechanic but I'd expect a GM dealership to know more about their vehicles quirks/issues over a local family owned shop. I have attempted to contact Merit Chevrolet on this issue with zero response! I want my money back for the unnecessary diagnostics. Be aware of this place and their tactics unless you want to be conned into paying $2200 for a $150 fix or to pay for a diagnostic fee that is unnecessary! Merit Chevrolet is the worst. I took it in and was given the dirtiest loaner (Tesla vehicle) that I've ever seen. I took this in for the same problem twice. After that I was told that our car had new software and new turning signal. When we got on the highway we noticed lots of wind noise coming from the repaired side door. I opened the door and they forgot to put the door seals back on. So after a week or so we took our brand new X back in to service and received yet another filthy, banged up smelly loaner. Hours later Tesla called said it was fixed. We took a test drive with the service tech and we duplicated the issue again. I showed him where the seal was damaged and that that's where the noise was coming from. I was told to drive for a few days to see if it were just a temporary thing. It wasn't.. then Tesla mobile came out and that the protection tape was left on causing the seal to warp around window points. So we would have to take it back in for a new seal. At this point Tesla told me that this is how the seal comes to them. While the tech looked through our car he noticed that his service crew didn't put back some of the parts that were taken off for repair. It only took about five minutes to fix. At this point I didn't want Tesla's service center to touch our X again because of all the issues. So I went around the whole car and took pictures of the unfinished repairs. There were lots of imperfections with our Model X when we got it. They had us write everything down on paper and they gauge it to their technicians (eden Prairie, MN). This was to far of a drive so we chose Maplewood location. HUGE MISTAKE! Needless to say that there's still a lot of unfinished repairs but we're dealing with them. We do LOVE the X despite horrible experiences with the Service Center Repairs.

I plan on driving 1 hour out of my way to make sure i never give Maplewood store ANY of my business and I will be relaying with the Tesla communities and Forums in wisconsin/Minnesota area to do the same. They lost a customer for life, and I hope many more with that kind of attitude.
