I thought this was a really solid pizza place. Locally owned spot with an old school vibe serving up ny style slices. The pizza is above average thin style pizza. Good cheese, good grease levels on the pepperoni slice. Maybe a little light on the sauce, but it tasted good. I thought the crust was exceptional. Thin with a crispy outer shell and a chewy inside. I just moved here from New York City, ostensibly home of the world's best pizza, but I gotta tell ya: This pizza is better than anything I ever had in my 12 years in NYC. I just finished eating my third slice and had to stop and write this review because it was that good. Based on recommendations I read here, I veered from my usual pizza path and got a whole wheat pizza with the meatball topping and holy cow was it delicious. Perfect ratio of sauce to cheese to topping to crust; crust a perfect balance of crispy (at the end of the crust) and chewy (on the "body" of the pizza). Decent pizza for delivery. Very fresh veggie pizza. Their pizzas consistently arrive hot and fresh. However , compared with other places (namely Arturo's), their pizza is only so-so. That they deliver is a real plus. But they could improve on the quality if the crust and cheese. read more

Im giving this place 2 stars because I've had their pizza and it was pretty good, however, I had a terrible experience. I went in a little after 3pm on a Friday afternoon, place was empty besides two people who were already eating, as I approach the girl behind the counter I'm barely greeted but I order my small fries to go anyway. Girl takes my money, again, barely a thank you. Fine, lack of customer service aside, I sit down to wait for my fries. I am thinking 5-10 minutes at most since there's no one in there and I don't hear their phone ringing to think phone orders have them busy. As I wait, I see the same girl who took my order and handled my cash go over to where other workers are weighing pizza dough and starts handling that same dough without having washed her hands nor putting gloves on. How unsanitary!! She's playing with the dough as if she were playing with clay (never worked in a pizzeria don't know if this is ok) but then another set of customers come in, she takes their order - with dough still in her hands - takes their cash and goes right back to playing with that dough like nothing. I was disgusted. To make matters worse, after 15 minutes of waiting for small fries, I go up and ask about them and they had just been sitting there! She looked at me like it was nothing. I get to my car and go to eat one, they were almost like shoestring fries and extremely oily. Needless to say, I will never go into this establishment again. read more

OK, so I'm only giving 3 stars because I was Looking for a more rustic pizza. I ordered a 14" Margharita pie. The delivery time wasn't too bad. My pie was NOT the hottest I've ever had. The sauce is a Tad bland for my tastes and I'm still confused as to why we're chopping the Basil...seriously! But, for local pizza, it wasn't that bad. I'm sure there are better pizza joints in town. This has been our go-to pizza for the last 10 years or so. Good red sauce. Quick delivery. They now have a nice gluten-free pizza option. I've had it a few times and the last time was the best -- I asked for a little extra sauce and cheese, and it was very tasty! Probably the best GF pie in town (and now we have a lot to choose from!). Have ordered delivery before and they came to our address since we are just within their area and they always have to be reminded that they will deliver to us. Normally it's great but tonight they went to the wrong town so it took extra time and the pizza was limp and soggy. This was my second visit to this pizzeria. I was NOT satisfied with the food quality. Although the staff who helped me was generous the food was not worth the trip nor the price i paid for it. I'm usually not a fan of buffalo chicken pizza but Maplewood pizzeria make a very delicious one with tiny cut up pieces of buffalo chicken with plenty of cheese all over it. The crust is spectacular not to soft yet not to crispy completing the deliciousness of that pizza. Only downside is it can get busy and as good as the service is sometimes it can get hectic. read more

I was craving fried calamari today, so I ordered them a 2 slices of pizza. I saw this restaurant as I was driving by. I waited for a bit, got my dinner and went home. This place has been here for a very long time. I even remember when the were in another building down the street. I love the plain(and yes not everywhere has good plain slices) and I also love the white slices. This is hands down my favorite place to get zeppoles. A lot of places do an absolute terrible job. One thing I will say is that they are kind of stingy with the powdered sugar these days and prices have gone up, but so has the cost of everything else. read more

This is located near my office so I come occasionally. Avoid at all costs at lunch time during the week as it is mobbed with students from the high school across the street. Food is mediocre at best and customer service is horrible. I called an order in an hour ahead of time to be ready at 12 and nothing was ready when I arrived at 12:05. The man behind the register was rude when I asked on the time and it was clear no one had even begun my order. As I had paid, I was stuck waiting until 12:20 for my small order to be completed (one sandwich and two slices) which were dropped in front of me without a word. I won't return. read more

First time I ever ordered from Maplewood Pizzeria, I had it delivered. Ordered 2 pies, whole wheat plain and whole wheat veggie. each pie was 14" and the ordered totaled $28. I was told it would take 40 minutes...they arrived in 70 minutes. The veggie pie was soggy, the plain pie was a total disaster. the sauce and cheese completely slid off the pie. I called to let them know about the plain pie they said they would send over another pie. 90 minutes later a well done, cold pizza showed up. I went here for lunch because it was convenient. I had the alfredo slice and plain slice. I was very disappointed in the crust. The plain slice just drooped and the crust was soggy. It didn't hold up the sauce and cheese at all. The sauce and cheese tasted good. As for the alfredo slice, the crust held up better, but did not taste good. It seemed like different types of dough was used for the pizzas. The spinach and tomato topping tasted good. I usually enjoy eating the crust the most on a pizza, and this was one of the very few that I didn't finish because it tasted bad. This place has a new name- I had the tomato, basil, garlic pie the other night- it was quite good, served piping HOT- the way pizza should be! We have been ordering from them for years. Order was 1hr and 15 min late. Asked for the 15 hot wings from the printed menu and if the sauce was on the side. Sent 8 wings and soaked with a bland sauce and no hot sauce or blue cheese. Cold, soggy wings & cold soggy calamari that sauce leaked all over out of container. pizza was cold with burn spots on the bottom. Called manager to complain. Gave money back. The manager then called me back screaming because we didn't trow the 1/2 of 3 slices of pizza we tried to eat. She screamed if we wanted food again it would cost us an extra $38. NO THANKS! I guess when you try to feed a family 3 slices they cannot finish is $38? read more

I have been ordering from Maplewood Pizza for ten years. I typically have my order delivered. I called today at 12:11 placed my order for a Large Pie with one topping (nothing extravagant). At 12:54 I called back since the delivery guy hadn't arrived yet. The man who answered the phone explained to me that the pizza delivery guy had four orders before me and that my order was going out. At 1:20 I still did not have a pizza. So, I called back to cancel the order. The same man says, he's on his way. I said well it's okay I'm cancelling. He then says, well I'm going to have to put you on the Black List and we won't deliver to you anymore. I said WHAT!? I order from you all the time. He says "I KNOW". I then explained that when I called in the first time he should have told me that it would take over an hour to deliver the pizza, now I'm being threatened with with putting me on a black list. He continued to speak over me. I finally said, you are not the only Pizza guys in town. Roman Gourmet delivers. His response, fine fine. So I hung up. I order from this place at least 3-5 times per month, and this is their response after it takes almost an hour and a half to get a no frills pizza. That's pathetic. Being rude and nasty to a customer who has been ordering frequently is just really bad business. Being rude and nasty to any customer is really bad. This isn't my first horror story with them, but this is the first time I complained. They once delivered the wrong pizza, came back with the right one and when I asked what they were going to to with the first pizza...the delivery guy responded.. Sell slices of it. Please keep in mind that I had already taken two slices from that pie. (and yes, even after that, I continued to order from them.) They don't have to worry about my business anymore. read more
