I've been coming here for over 4 years now and I have no complaints! A solid neighborhood pizza spot! The staff are friendly and warm. They serve food in actual plates.... With cutlery and a smile! This place has literally the best everything, and I've eaten a lot of pizza in my day. My friend and I shared the penne vodka slice which was by far my favorite, creamy and delicious I could've eaten a whole pie! We also shared the pesto pizza and grandma slice, into end that we had the eggplant slice, the eggplant was grilled so tender and delicious. Also had a chicken Parmesan garlic knot slider, amazing imagine a giant garlic knot but with an explosion of chicken Parm, yum! We also share the buffalo chicken wrap, the wrap itself is made in the house! You should be able to give zero stars for failed delivery! Not sure if it's RGs issue or the Slice App, but trying to get a refund from this place is exhausting. I ordered a pizza at 8:15pm via Slice that was meant to be delivered 9:10pm. Tried calling RG at 9:25pm but no answer. Ended up having to order a new pizza from west order which I had to go pick up as by this time everyone was hungry and it was getting too late. I eventually got home with the new pizza at 10:15pm and the delivery guy from RG arrived with what I assume was a very cold pizza....2hrs after I first ordered and an hour after it's expected delivery time - told him to take it back. We've had delivery issues with RG in the past, but the food was good so stuck with them. This last experience might have done it in for us, will need to find a new local pizza place. Slice App customer service is TERRIBLE! Lesson learnt, don't use the app and just call the restaurant direct. On the app it's a shot in the dark whether the restaurant actually gets the order and they provide zero customer service. read more

Update to my previous review. While it was certainly frustrating, the owner, Vinnie, called me several times afterwards to make things right. He apologized, took ownership, and was genuine. This is by far the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life. I mean I grew up eating pizza Friday night watching WWE SmackDown. I wish I had this pizza in my life at that point in time. I put all the seasoning toppings on the pepperoni because it only enhances your taste and flavor. But by far my favorite slice has to be the chicken bacon ranch pizza. It has everything you need on it chicken, bacon, that special White Sauce . What more can you ask for? Its way better than the other pizza places in the area. I came in there a few weeks ago too grab a slice since I haven't been there in a while the young lady was super nice, I sat down and ate my food. Then, a cook from in the kitchen was staring at me and was making me feel highly uncomfortable. I just wanted too enjoy my food. I've been going there since I was very young and I don't want it too stop going there because of the older gentlemen working in the kitchen while I was sitting at the table enjoying my meal. I went there to try their vegan cheese pizza. It was $4 a slice which was steep but I wanted to try anyway. I wasn't too fond of the vegan cheese. The slice with the tomatoes wasn't too great but the spinach slice was pretty good. I wish they would of put more tomato sauce on the slices. read more

In the past few months of our collective nightmare of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Roman Gourmet has provided one of our family's most consistent and reliable bright spots. One of the first pizzerias we tried since first setting foot in Maplewood five years ago, Roman Gourmet has been amazing at keeping things as close as possible to life before the coronavirus. The restaurant, which is only available for takeout, remains bright and busy, with the owner providing pleasant small talk. It pays to call in your pick-up order ahead of time (instead of using silly middleman apps). Roman Gourmet gets everything right, and often exactly estimates the time it'll take for your order to be ready. What I have really come to appreciate since the 'rona shut down so much is how adequately staffed they are. On a recent Friday afternoon, there were 10 employees making pizzas, filling orders, folding boxes, answering the phone and running the register. While it might not seem like a significant detail, it stands head and shoulders above many other establishments that sometimes don't even answer the phone or place you on hold (and subject you to the Muzak). Aside from the visual evidence that Roman Gourmet is providing jobs to several local employees, it also means that you get your meal as efficiently as possible. That in itself is priceless. Of course, no pizzeria would be worth patronizing if its product wasn't excellent. Thankfully, Roman Gourmet hits the mark there, too. The tomato sauce used in its pizzas is very nicely balanced: Not too sweet, not too acidic and not too spicy. The sauce-to-cheese proportion is also at the perfect ratio, and the crust has a great crispiness to it. Just make sure you eat it hot! The pepperoni is top-notch, and the chicken parm subs are excellent. Their salads are generously sized and consistently fresh. It's our No. 1 go-to pizzeria! read more

Chicken parm sliders are amazing. Pizza is good, better with toppings for sure-- good if you want just a good old fashioned NY style pizza. The staff has always been friendly and quick in my experience. Most people get takeout or delivery but there's no reason not to eat right at the restaurant. I was not as impressed with Roman Gourmet as I hoped to be. I had two slices of pizza and thought it was run-of-the mill. My friend had a salad and the antipasto platter and she said it was good. Eating in was not a comfortable experience for me. The whole place was poorly lit. It was very cramped and crowded the evening that we went, and the whole counter area was messy and cluttered. The floors and bathroom looked old and shabby. The staff was having trouble keeping up with everyone's orders, and while the server brought my friend the food she had ordered, she forgot my friend's drink and she didn't bring me my slices. After some time I noticed that two slices had been sitting on the counter, ignored, so I waited back on line behind customers who were ordering in order to ask if those were my pieces of pizza. The man said that they were so I took them. Meanwhile other slices of pizza were being taken out of the oven and runners were bringing them to seated customers. It all was a little chaotic. read more
