This is such a cute new cafe/bakery in the area! They have a lot of classic bakery items and drinks (croissants, espresso, etc), as well as other cakes/pastries and drinks that have Southeast Asian flavors. I decided to try their strawberry matcha latte ($6.15) with oat milk (+$0.50). The drink had a strong matcha flavor but I thought the strawberry flavor could be stronger. Overall the drink wasn't too sweet even with the strawberry syrup. I'd love to try some of their cakes in the future, which look super cute and tasty! read more

I absolutely love Maprang Bakery & Cafe! I was looking for unique cake flavors, while also looking for single slices as I like to try a lot of flavors and I took a chance on Maprang. They did not disappoint. The cakes are so light and flavorful. I got their coconut pandan, thai tea, ube, strawberry shortcake and carrot cakes. All were delicious but my favorites were the coconut pandan and ube! I have come here twice now and the service has been extremely friendly both times :) I will be back for more! read more

Loved the desserts! I would've preferred the Vietnamese iced coffee to have sweet condensed milk in it, but they have sweet syrup available to apply yourself! Available bathroom, fast service. It's a little cramped inside but still cozy. If I lived closer I would definitely be a regular. read more

I came here because of the nice looking desserts. They actually taste very good too. The mango yuzu mousse is mango moose with yuzu paste in the middle. It's so good. Their cheese cake is good too. They are not like the ones in the US or Japan. It's a bit different and tastes a bit salty in a good way. It tastes best when it's cold. I'll definitely want to come back here and try more. Service is good too. They have some seating inside. read more

They are tops in service and flavor! I ordered a whole Pandan coconut cake and a whole matcha strawberry cake for my daughter's graduation. Due to a mix up, we didn't pick up before closing time. But the owners were kind enough to stay late well past closing to ensure we could get the cakes! The cakes themselves were beautiful, tasty, and not too sweet. The coconut cream in the Pandan cake was out of this world. All in all, I highly recommend Maprang! read more

Such a cute family-owned bakery in Union Square! We came here to pick up a birthday cake and ended up also trying some small desserts and drinks. Our cake was gorgeous and perfectly-sized for a family celebration with eight people (with leftover). The cake was incredibly fluffy, filled with a delicious pandan cream. It was easy for me to eat a large slice since it was so light! After ordering, the staff were so helpful and friendly, and had our drinks prepped quickly! I especially loved the matcha. They also had many desserts to choose from and I'm looking forward to trying more next time we come. They even added an adorable cartoon on our take out bag to celebrate the new year :) With their cafe seating, I imagine this bakery is a great place to relax or study while sipping on yummy drinks! read more

Small bakery located next to Reliable Market with Asian flavors, as well as some more standard bakery fare. I previously came here during their soft opening and enjoyed their Vietnamese iced coffee and came back this time to try some of their desserts as a friend had highly recommended one of their cakes. We tried the coconut pandan cake, Thai tea cake, and basque cheesecake. All were very good - cheesecake was super creamy while not as heavy as traditional cheesecake, and the coconut pandan and Thai tea cakes tasted true to the advertised flavors without being too sweet. Friendly service overall. As I was leaving I ordered a couple extra desserts to go and was overcharged initially, however they reviewed it and were able to fix the mistake. read more

I stopped by before dinner at An Nam to pick up my order through Grubhub because some of the cake will be sold out. I ordered the basque cheesecake, coconut chiffon, coconut pandan cake, thai tea cake, and mango yuzu mousse cake. I brought ube and strawberry flavors when I got there since these weren't available through Grubhub. The cakes aren't too sweet and have unique Asian flavors that few bakeries offer. Maprang is the cutest addition we can have in Union Square. I had a chance to speak with the baker, who said she learned how to make these cakes from Youtube. She was very sweet and answered all my questions while also providing her recommendations as to what was popular. I tried their Thai tea cake, Mango Yuzu Mousse, and coconut chiffon cake. The Thai tea cake tastes true to its name. I wish it had slightly less cream and more cake, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The mango yuzu mousse was soooo pretty. It almost made it too pretty to eat. I could taste the mango and yuzu flavor, and it was not overwhelming. It was light and not sour nor overly sweet. My favorite was honestly the coconut chiffon cake. There is real coconut in this cake, and it makes it so much more moist and better. I would stop by and try some of the other desserts. read more

Been here a couple times now and I've also ordered two full size cakes from here. The cafe is small, but it's very cute. The Vietnamese iced coffee is just okay - it doesn't give me that caffeine rush like the traditional one. It does taste like it's made with just espresso. I would get the matcha latte again. I asked for it with almond milk and a touch of sweetness and it was so good! The coconut pandan cake was delicious. Light and mildly sweet. I got the full size cake for a family birthday and they all loved it. Also got the full size carrot cake and it was very good too! Service is friendly and efficient. There is a parking lot in the back too which is nice. read more

I had the best ube latte of my life here! I came for the fluff festival and ordered an ube latte with fluff. For an extra cute touch they even made little ghost faces on the fluff. The latte had a nice coconut undertone and was just sweet enough. I can't wait to come back here! read more

Wow, just wow. The place deserves 5 stars just for the cakes they serve. We had the thai tea and coconut pandan. The cakes are some of the best Asian inspired cakes I've ever had. Fluffy, light and not too sweet. We also got Thai tea latte and Vietnamese coffee. The drinks are decent, but nothing special. Vietnamese coffee doesn't taste like it. it's lacking the condensed milk taste.the service was very good. There are a few small tables if you want to dine in, but it is more ideal for smaller groups or takeout. read more

We ordered a pandan cake for our daughter's baby shower and it was a hit! Everyone wanted to know where the cake was from and there was not one crumb left. Needless to say we were very happy with Maprang. We used to stop by weekly since we lived down the street but since we moved away it's been harder to make a trip especially with a newborn. We miss the staff, the delicious lattes, and cakes tremendously and can't wait for our next visit. read more

I love love love that this bakery exists. Trying to find good unique asian flavor cakes is soo hard to find within boston. Coconut pandan 5/5 - my friends think pandan flavor can be a little stronger, but other than that I think that the chunks of fresh coconut in the middle layer is so unique and soo so so so good. Thai tea cake (not pictured)- the thai tea cake is also really good and well balanced and actually tastes like im eating thai tea in cake form. My friend said the matcha latte was really good 5/5. I can't wait to come back and try more! I really want to try their purple yam cake, but they didn't have it today. Nestled in Union Square is Maprang Café. Cute and cozy Asian café with endless pastry and sweet options. I have walked by this place a few times and was thrilled to finally try it and it wasn't super busy when I walked in. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte and it was so delicious! The perfect amount of spice and a creamy finish. The food options also looked really pretty and colorful. I will mention the price points for the food options seemed a little pricey for the size and amount, but that is just my personal opinion. It is an adorable café and overall had a nice experience during my first visit. read more

Maprang is such a gem! Besides the lovely Asian-inspired food and drink, their service is top notch. In the past, I've ordered a Basque cheesecake which was so delicious and decadent! The space is quaint and fun to be in. The staff are very nice and will answer any questions about the delicious desserts made with care. We enjoyed the Thai Tea Eclair which was filled with tasty Thai tea filling. Not too sweet and fresh! We also had a Thai Tea drink and matcha which were all made fresh to order and we did not wait long at all! It was fun to learn that Maprang is a small fruit and is like a mini mango! We will be back to try more of the delicious, beautiful desserts! read more

What a cute cafe! The owners are super friendly. I am trying to limit sugar intake so the owner was able to reduce as much sugar as possible (sugar mixed in already but he was able to adjust it by adding more milk). The bobas are chewy yay! The cakes are so pretty and two of the 3D design cakes are similar to the shop on Newbury St but this cafe has better filling (mango yuzu mousse!) I am very happy to stumble across the bakery as they offer interesting Asian flavors (ube, pandan, etc). Next time I have to come here hungry so I can sample their pastry selections. The ham and cheese tart is airy and light, way better than ham and cheese crossaints I have been eating at other shops. Check out their custom cake designs on Facebook! I may have to put in a cake order soon because they are so beautiful. Few tables for dine and I believe parking is either metered or maybe shared with reliabale market in the back? The drinks are SO CUTE!!!! And not to mention delicious. My favorite summer drink on their menu is the matcha lemonade-- and I love that they have images of the drinks too so you know exactly what you are getting. The desserts always look so yummy, I've only ever had the ham and cheese croissant and it was pretty good, not blow your mind amazing but yummy! What keeps me coming back though is the workers. A coworker brought in some cakes to share at work and they were INCREDIBLE. None of the cakes were overly sweetened, which really allowed the flavors to shine. There was a great variety (carrot cake, strawberry shortcake, key lime, etc.) and they were all very fluffy and very thoughtfully decorated. 4.5. We ordered their carrot, mango, strawberry, and coconut pandan (my fave) cakes and mango yuzu mousse. Between two of us we ate them all in one day lol bc we didn't want them to go bad and bc they were actually just really good. Mango, strawberry, and coconut pandan cakes were light and not too sweet. Carrot cake was a little more dense and sweeter which is expected but still good. Mango yuzu mousse I think could've had a little more mango and yuzu flavor. The frosting on the lemon cupcake was intensely lemony, and the chocolate frosting was rich and smooth. I and the other non-vegans at the party couldn't tell that they were vegan, and our host was delighted to know that there is a bakery nearby that caters to her needs. In response to Shironda W's (owner of Cupcake Therapy) she needs to take responsibility & update her forms or state the delivery policy under "Terms" on website. I was not aware (not stated on the website) the driver is not allowed to leave delivery with "random people" @ any hospital. When I instructed delivery be left with a specific floor (the cupcakes were for everyone working on that floor), I should have been contacted prior to delivery if a specific name of someone to accept delivery was required (I was not contacted). These cupcakes were not for a patient (certainly would be a very hungry patient) but for the nursing/administrative staff. Number listed on form was general number for Beth Israel Deaconess, yes, but again, if driver asked where Stoneman 5 was there would not be a problem. Again, read the information prior to delivery so driver can have any questions clarified & this problem could have been a non-issue & delivery could have been made on date & time it was promised. Clearly not the fault of the purchaser that there is a flaw in the design/content of the on-line order form. Having my contact number listed only under the billing that driver does not have, not my fault. Very easy to blame the customer (who will NEVER be a repeat customer) instead of taking responsibility for your mistake. Regarding not receiving a voice mail from me. I called when I saw an email (again no phone call) stating deliver was not made. Had you took the time to call me right after notified delivery could not be initiated, perhaps you would have done the right thing and returned that day with cupcakes while they were fresh. I called during business hours in hopes of speaking to a human being but no answer so left a VM. Very easy to put blame on customer & not take responsibility. Certainly makes me appreciate companies that do right when an issues arises. Do better for the next person!!!!!!

Maybe I have too much of a sweet tooth but unlike a lot of reviewers I did not find it to be TOO sweet, just the right amount paired with a bitter coffee beverage and split between two people.
