My dog has recurrent ear infections, which means he has a secondary illness. This was my first visit to this clinic, and honestly, there were many dogs in the waiting room some active and others more relaxed. The place is quite small, so the dogs couldn't be too close to each other or else you wait outside. My visit went well overall. The vet checked both of his ears and ruled out an ear infection, which I was even aware he had. They suggested giving him an injection and doing an ear flush at the clinic, while I would take oral medication home. I had to stop the vet there and asked, "How much is the injection?" I felt the vet was going too fast, and I wasn't aware of the cost. He went back to the office and returned without any paper in hand, just telling me the total would be $207. I then asked how much just the injection was, and he said $27. I gladly agreed, not realizing what else was included in the invoice. When they called me to pay, no invoice was provided. I was asked to pay on the spot. After that then I received the invoice and saw two medications that could have been bought at the pharmacy with coupons. I checked GoodRx and found I could have paid only $13 for both medications, instead of $62.10 at the clinic. I called the clinic to ask if they could provide a paper prescription, and the clerk confirmed they could. However, she mentioned I was supposed to ask for it beforehand. I explained that I told the vet I wanted the injection and only received the cost estimate. The clerk also said they cannot refund or reimburse any costs and advised me to ask for the prescription next time and hoping that I understood. I want to share this experience to advise others: avoid buying medications directly from the clinic, as they are often triple the price. Instead, create an account with GoodRx or a similar service to save a lot of money. I've learned my lesson be cautious and don't agree too quickly. I wish clinics were more transparent about costs and ensured that prescriptions are provided in writing to help you save money. The ladies at the desk and the vet techs are always nice. That's where the good ends. The vet barely spends any time with my cats. He walks in, (after I always wait at least 20 minutes past the appointment time,) looks in their eyes, mouth and ears, listens to their heart, then gives them their shots and says see you. I have to remind him to check other things. This time, I was charged for a feline leukemia vaccination that I didn't even request. I only knew it was given when my invoice was much higher than usual. $42.00 each for two cats. When I said I didn't think we got them, I was told it was combined with the RCPC. (I thought they stopped doing that years ago.?!) I said I hadn't requested it and I never get it for my cats, I was told by Shelby, "oh, that's my fault." Thank you for accepting responsibility, but that doesn't help that my cats got something I didn't want them to have and I'm out $84. I'll be looking for someone who specializes in cats. For some reason, the vet spends more time with dogs. Does he just not care for cats? read more

We love this place. Been going here for probably over 15 years. They've cared for 4 dogs of ours. We have lots of vets closer to us but drive about 20+ minutes to continue seeing the vets here. They handle our reactive dog and our incredibly anxious dog amazingly. Yes it can be a decent wait at times but ya know sometimes stuff happens and my guess is they're often trying to squeeze people in. And at times that may have been my dog needing a last minute appt and I'll gladly wait the extra time when it's someone else's pet. read more

Dr. Wengert and his team are phenomenal humans who really do care about the animals they see. They have been caring for my dogs for over 10 years now and I highly recommend their services. He has always been very transparent about their health conditions and has never tried to sell me on unnecessary treatments. I appreciate the level of care they provide and they do truly have the animals best interest in mind. Even though I have moved across town, I will still make the drive because I trust their staff and they keep their facility in top notch working order. On my most recent visit to have my new dog spayed and given shots we were able to get a quick appointment, she was seen right on time, they did a fantastic job with the stitches (no licking at all), and our followup visit to get them removed was quick and painless. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I brought my cat here when she was having weakness and couldn't walk. They diagnosed her with something, gave her meds and sent her home. Within hours her symptoms got worse. She was visibly in pain and having difficulty breathing. When I called the office they blew me off and said it was a reaction to the meds. I had to call multiple times and insist on being seen. They finally agree. But when I arrived it was lunch time and the front office staff joked around and didn't care about the fact that my cat was in urgent need of care. When they finally took us back the vet was even rude and didn't show any sympathy or sense of urgency to help my poor cat. If they had the decency to at least be honest and refer us to an emergency vet instead of saying they could help my baby would still be with us. My poor cat ultimately died in the room while they did nothing for her. They left me to take her poor lifeless body and put her back in the kennel to take her to her final resting place. Then the main vet followed me to my car and had the audacity to say that he wouldn't charge me for the visit. Do not go here. read more

We found Marana Veterinary Clinic located in Marana several years ago and over the years, the service remains excellent and fairly priced. Dr. Wengert is extremely knowledgeable and I always feel as though he isn't interested in pushing us out the door or selling us products that really aren't necessary for the health and wellness of our pets. He has performed surgery on my dogs and was caring and explanatory as to what we should expect. His staff is also knowledgeable and kind. Each time I call during business hours, I am greeted by a live person- never am answering machine. I can usually get a same day appointment if necessary or if I'm not in a rush, the same or following week. My girlfriend has brought you a few cats over the years and always treated well and comfortable

We went there once several years ago when my dog was experiencing symptoms of Valley Fever. He was clearly in distress medically, and I took him in on a weekend. The Vet that saw him didn't really spend any time looking my dog over. He gave him some antibiotics (doesn't do anything for Valley Fever) and charged us $100 for a Valley Fever test, saying he'd call us with the results. Well a week later I finally got a call back from someone in his office saying the test was negative. Meanwhile, our dog was practically at death's door. We instead took him into the Southern Arizona Emergency Vet place, and then returned to the vet near our old home (Cortaro Farms Pet) for the follow-up care and routine visits. If I had stuck with this place, my dog probably would have died. I'm not sure if that Vet is there anymore, but I won't go back again just in case. read more

I visited the clinic for a check up on my pregnant dog that we thought was in early labor. We were told over the phone that they thought we would need an emergency c-section and we needed to come in right away. When we should up, the lady at the front was very rude and acted like she had no idea what I was talking about even though she was the one who took the call from me initially. The vet took about 10 mins to talk with us and without taking any labs or x-rays, told us to give our dog oxytocin in four hours if she did not have puppies. We gave her it as directed, and she did not have any puppies overnight. When they called to check in on her, they said that she was not in labor and to wait a few hours, but we likely needed to do a c-section. Something did not seem right to me, so I made an appointment with another vet to get her checked out and thank God I did that. The new vet did x-rays and lab work. X-rays showed that the puppies were not yet developed enough, and she likely was never in labor initially and is likely due when I initially thought she was. The new vet also advised that if we need a c-section this early on due to the oxytocin injection, it is very likely that the puppies will not make it. They have put my dog and her puppies in a potentially dangerous situation due to their negligence and unwillingness to do the necessary steps. I was very clear with them that I thought she wasn't actually due for another week, but I ignored my intuition with the assumption that they knew what they were doing. read more

They have taken care of two of our animals now and after trying one other clinic I can say we quickly came running back. They are very friendly, happy to explain things to you and they do not just go for the expensive tests. My wife and I both agree this is where we will be going from now on and we cannot thank them enough for the service we receive from them. ... my dog was seen by a Dr. Visco who apparently was filling in for the regular vet who I have heard good things about. Had this been communicated to me at the time that I made the appointment I would have simply waited for the regular doctor to be there. It was not communicated to me This man was horrible. Did not listen to my dog's heart, did no exam, hardly touched her. I have absolutely no confidence in this man and my sweet little dog who loves everyone and everything even growled slightly at him. Aside from this particular filling -in vet though was the protocol of the office staff. The tech took my dog's temperature anally with no plastic cover on the thermometer then proceeded to simply wipe it with some cotton, no alcohol or disinfectant of any kind, and drop it right back into the drawer. I was shocked. She proceeded to take my dog's pulse using her wrist watch . At that moment I had assumed the doctor would come in and check her heart. The vet drew out some fluid that had been in an abscess and proceeded to discharge it directly onto the examination table five different times. (He then tried to tell me that the fact that she had had an almost identical abcess in the exact same place one year ago was in no way related to this recent one, and that this must have been caused by one of my other dog's having bitten her. That is simply not possible. They do not bite each other. Ever. ) When we all walked out there was a pool of this pinkish discharge there on the table. The whole thing was a very very bad and disappointing experience. The minute I saw the business with the thermometer I should have walked out. Even though the regular vet wasn't there today I can only assume that the unsanitary protocol with the thermometer is standard practice. I do not enjoy or make a habit of writing negative reviews or speaking negatively about businesses or people but this experience very upsetting.I have four dogs now I have had dogs my entire life since I was a kid. I have been to many vets and have truly never seen anything like this. read more

I had taken my boston terrier there. yes they were nice BUT, the gal at the front desk gave my dog a 50 mg tablet of tramadol. The dosage for a dog that small should be 1/4 or LESS. Within a few hours after I brought my dog home, he died. I have told this to another vet who was shocked and said that was a very deadly mistake. PLEASE BEWARE. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, and when asked to rec one, I have ALWAYS told people NOT to go there and why. It was a VERY HORRIBLE thing for my poor dog. i've had to come in multiple times for my dogs and cats and i cannot be more pleased with the staff and the atmosphere of this vet. my boyfriend and i brought my 3 big dogs in the vet really helped explain everything to us and helped us understand my dogs situations individually and it was a great experience. we also had to put my cat down last month and they were the most kind hearted people and even sent a card with her paw print with condolences. they also put my boyfriends dog down at their home and made such difficult times so much easier. i could not be happier with this business. read more
