Bud, 6 months after going to PAWS!

My son's Chocolate Lab "Bud" tested positive for Valley Fever. I had already lost a pup from Valley Fever, and recalled stopping by to ask if the Vet was experienced with Valley Fever at Bear Canyon. We began the harsh medication treatment for Bud, but every time a test or titer was done, they came back high and Vet, VanErven would put him on a stronger medication. The 3rd course of her prescritption made Bud sicker. Never once did she suggest a nutrient or change in diet, they actually said his diet was great. Since my son worked long hours and Bud is my Grand dog, I would take him in and call for results. That was another problem. The delays and the front staff really lacked in getting massages back and forth. It was always bring him back in and another large Vet bill and more medication, nothing else. Bud literally looked like he was dying. VanErven ran a clinic Liver Panel on him and she said it was extremely high. We had finally had enough when she made it clear she had no intention on getting Bud better, but to charge a huge Vet bill. I did more research and found PAWs Vet Clinic has a Vet that specialized in Valley Fever. The first thing he did was sit with us and changed Bud's diet. When the test came back the liver panel was fine... we were angry. Vally Fever titers were 1-5. The Vet wanted ot see them lower. He put Bud on four Natural Nutrients, plus the Valley Fever medication. He assured me that with the nutrients, Bud would not have the harsh side effects and would feel much better. We are now going into the 90 day treatment plan and Bud is doing great. We moved away from the Valley Fever dust and he runs a 2 acre area every day. His coat is beautiful and he doesn't have the lingering cough. He looks amazing! PAWS also requested Buds records from Bear Canyon and they got one visit date, even tough we had taken him in more than that one time. That is plain lazy, or passive agressive, not sure. They didn't even send the titer results that came from another lab. If I can say any thing about his previous treatment by Bear Canyon, do your research & take your pet to someone that has experience or that really cares. That sappy treatment you get from the staff and Bear Canyon, calling you hun, or sweetie, isn't going to save your dog. It is very condescending. Had we continued with Bear Canyon we would have had to put our sweet boy down back when he was so sick.

My puppy Presley is always treated with such love .

Dr. Van Erven is a wonderful caring doctor. I have been bringing my dogs to her for years and am very happy with the office.

Their demeanor is very insensitive and callous, which tends to happen when you start to view patients as parts. I took my runt cat in because she was having diarhea. I told the doc we have limited resources. Doctor Adams saw her and suggested that she may have a sensitive stomach or possible IBS, and if the food did not work, she would see if a script would work. I was told by the tech, Gerrick, that I could call and give an update on her condition to get a script. 2 weeks passed and no improvement. I called for the script, and the "office manager" said I have to bring her in, again (another $70). I've spent thousands of dollars with them, and this is the loyalty I get. I have a sick cat, and now I'm out over $100 bucks with nothing to show for it... $70 for a visit, plus the food, and no medical treatment. I want a refund.

My dog was on the incorrect usage until I verified with another vet the CORRECT dosage. This vet fired me and my 3 dogs in the middle of treating them for major medical disorders. I believe she did this because she was not experienced enough to treat them properly. I found error after error. She's an unethical practitioner. She is high strung and very insulting. She takes 100% of your money (she's one of the most expensive vets in Tucson) but offers only 50% or less care. And she does NOT care for her patients nor their families. She refuses to answer questions like dietary needs or tests and procedures that need to be done. She misdiagnosed and mistreated all 3 of my dogs. I would not use Kayla Boyer she is terrible and has really gone downhill over the years. She's nasty and refuses to answer important questions because she lacks capability and knowledge. I have found so much better since she let us go. It was a door that was much needed to open for the betterment of our healthcare for our animals. Blood riddens speedway vet hospital.

A different veterinary Dr. Recently, my senior dog had a bit of a health emergency. The young vet was brazenly arrogant, and my entire body felt anxious when dealing with her. She made a threat to report me and have him taken from me if I did not vaccinate him, prior to first checking to make sure he was ok. It was maddening. His immune system was already taxed and he's been rapidly going down hill since. She actually refused to give me any vaccine information and I believe in my soul she actually misled me to the type of vaccine he received. He nearly died a few days later. He was not a candidate. He needed care and attention, and instead was received coldly and cruelly. It was an absolutely disconnected and strange experience. It left my friend and I horrified. This place is a money hustle and their new young vet lacked kindness and empathy. It was a dark experience. We have since found a lovely vet to assist with his recovery, who is cordial and kind... and most of all puts us all at ease. Encanto, you may want to make sure your Vets actually like animals or can at least pretend to care about each animal without bias or judgement: I'd give this place a 0 for medical care, however, the front desk staff has always been kind and accommodating. Suggestion: perhaps don't make threats to a loving pet owner with a senior dog they love with their whole soul, in a crisis. Just start there. Integrity, transparency and decency go a long way in life and business.
