    Hummus chicken shwarma

Almost forgot how much I enjoy this little place! Food was delicious and staff was friendly. I love how cute and casual the feel is. The pastries look amazing and the ones I've tried have never disappointed. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl and my husband had the steak bowl with rice. The portions are huge and we had enough for leftovers!

Stopped by around 11:30 on a rainy Sunday. Totally packed house. Once you order at the counter you can choose to dine in or take out. Variety of tables and a few stools by the window. Friendly staff mostly teenagers and college aged students. Menu wise it offered a great variety and not too pricey in addition to a number of baked goods both savory and sweet. Quinoa kale bowl (2/4) great portion but flavor wise would say it was lacking for sure. Filling and healthy. Chicken schnitzel (5/5) great crispy chicken and batter to chicken ratio was perfect. Piping hot upon serving and yummy side salad with fries for $4 + Marcel Shakshuka (5/5) great flavor and decent portion with a proper amount of pita bread on the side. The focaccia shakshuka was pretty filling and a perfectly cooked runny egg on top. Very bold flavors may be a bit much along personally would just share as a little app. Parking nearby- lot and street parking. Looks like they have a few seats in front on nice days as well.

Saw a review online and thought I'd try this place for lunch e a friend . Cozy restaurant in Montclair. Street parking. But I parked in kings parking lot right across street.. Friendly staff. Had the special shashuka w lamb sausage feta cheese n pita bread. Generous portion tasted really good. Was warm n was good on a cool day. Have LO for lunch tomorrow. Also my friend had the grilled chicken shawarma w chicken caramelized onions pickled cabbage, sour pickles n tahini. Also side of greens. Was a generous portion too n tasted good, the pita bread was fresh n good. Tx u for a lovely lunch. Will be back again

Review for take out only! You guys. If you're looking for excellent quality and consistently great food, this is your spot! I dont love Mediterranean but decided to pick up to go weeks ago and am so so glad I did!! I've picked up almost weekly since I crave it - we love the chicken shawarma, hummus (the pita chips are insane, so good!) the honey chicken sandwich and za'atar fries. The food is really exceptional packed with lots of flavor! Easy to order online for pick up too and they wrap everything so nicely! I love love this spot!!! Glad to support!!!

Marcel is the best place to go for breakfast/ brunch/ lunch in the Montclair area. The Cappuccinos are amazing, and you can't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. I've tried the shakshuka and the challah French toast, and both experiences were unreal. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. 10/10 experience.

Great place! It was my second time here and my friend and I really enjoyed the food. Service was quick. It wasn't very crowded in the morning and there was plenty of space. I had the mushroom and feta omelette which was delicious. Loved the pita that came with it!

Called in my dinner order of chicken Shawarma plate. I wanted extra onions. No problem, it'll be ready in 20 minutes. My food was ready when I arrived. I had to grab pita chips and hummus. My Shawarma was salty. I've eaten here before and this was a first. My next visit, I'm getting my go to salad and Chicken Schnitzel. Paid street parking Small dining area.

This cute bakery/restaurant had delicious breakfast/lunch food! The fries were crispy and paired with a great sauce. The chicken shawarma pita was also packed with flavor but I felt that there wasn't a good balance of chicken and pickles/veggies. The chicken was packed at the top but and the rest was packed at the bottom so you're not rly able to get a good bite of the mix. I would definitely go back and try other things. I heard great things about the French toast. I also got the focaccia to go and it had great texture and savory flavor. The people serving were also so kind!

Delicious restaurant in the heart of upper montclair. I love their Israeli breakfast. I've also wanted to try the shashuka but I like the Israeli breakfast so much that I normally get that. Fresh ingredients. Nice staff. Give this place a try!

So I just stopped in tonight and realized that I never posted from my first visit! I love it at Marcel! It's inviting, delicious and reliable!! Tonight, I ordered the curried tofu over rice. AMAZING. So much so that I missed taking the picture, haha. I will DEFINITELY be returning time and time again!

We have visited Marcel for a Sunday Brunch. We are impressed with friendly, super convenient service, and a DELICIOUS Food. Everything we had was top notch. Definitely a place to make it a routine brunch outing for us. Well done!

    Shakshuka Mishmish Classic
    Jill C.

This place is added to my Montclair brunch/lunch list. The shakshuka mish mish was just as good as I remember from Mish Mish. Subtly spicy, robustly flavorful tomato sauce with flourishes of addicting za'atar. A fresh, tender pita comes with it. I wish the poached eggs were a bit less done but overall my meal was solid. The downside is the size of the place and its popularity. There's only 5-6 tables inside and 4 outside, which left me waiting for 30 minutes. The drill is: order at the register and then sit. They'll call your name and walk your order over. I recommend grabbing a paper menu from up front bc it's not displayed anywhere. Seasonal specials are on the chalkboard behind the doors that open to the place. To avoid paying for parking drive 1 block away from the train station. Stop at Vesta for some chocolate and pick up some cheese at Van Hook on your way out.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.

But although I found the restaurant to be cozy and my server to be friendly, the food though freshly prepared was just average at best. Let me explain. So, after perusing the menu, I saw a few Mediterranean staples, such as, baba-ghanoush, lentil soup, and a beef Shawarma entrée. So I decided to order all three of those items. Now, let me tell you not only was I excited to taste the food here, but I truly wanted to experience what a majority of people on yelp said about this place and its food. But I soon discovered that you truly cannot trust other peoples opinions when it comes to food. You just literally have to try it yourself to see if it even resembles that cuisines standard benchmarks. Well anyway, let me get to what I thought about the food. The lentil soup it's pretty tasty, but it would serve lukewarm. The baba-ghanoush was also tasty, but the pita bread was stale and void of any flavor. And as for the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, it was literally chopped up cubes of beef! Nothing near to what a standard Shawarma entrée should resemble, or let alone taste like! To be quite honest, I was so disenchanted with the Shawarma entrée that I asked my server to take it away and just give me the bill. I was ready to go! But my server genuinely saw my disappointment with this so-called Beef Shawarma that she pleaded with me to try another entrée. So I asked her to recommend another entrée to me. And she recommended the Skewered Chicken entrée. So, I caved in and went ahead and ordered this Skewered Chicken entrée. But I should've just went with my gut feeling and just should have paid the bill and left. I say this because it took forever for them to prepare this Skewered Chicken entrée and I mean forever! And this is on a Tuesday night with only two other people inside the restaurant, so literally this place was empty! (Not sure if the Cook made me wait for this dish out of spite for me sending back the first entree but that is my suspicion). Anyway, I got my server's attention and she told me if I could wait a few more minutes because they were plating my dish and that it will be out shortly. And that literally took another 10 minutes. To say that I was eager to get out of this place would be an understatement. I was standing up literally putting on my jacket when the dish finally reached my table. My server asked me kindly to return to my seat and to try her recommended entrée. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and I did so. The Skewered Chicken entrée was a little better than the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, but really nothing to write home about. What a letdown! I really wanted to give this restaurant one star, but my server really showed genuine concern about my dining experience. And I truly appreciated that. And so as for my take on Le Souk of Montclair NJ. I would caution spending your hard earned money at this restaurant. The food is mediocre at best and there are a lot of better options in the Montclair area for Mediterranean food.
