Let me start off by saying that I don't hand out 5's very easily! We flew in to TX by way of Austin and drove to Houston! We figured we would try to see if there were any open reservations for the night we planned and it all worked out in the most sincerest of ways that I can mention! We were there to celebrate a birthday and a family member's first Michelin rated restaurant. Also, we got to hang out at the lounge for a bit and had a splash. And we had a mini tasting which was not part of the main menu, but it definitely made us want to enjoy the actual courses that were to follow. We made a reservation for the 6 course meal even though we kicked ourselves in the rear for not having reserved the 9 course meal, but that's okay! The experience was delightful as they took us on a culinary trip down the old Mediterranean countries known as the Levant. Mezze was delectable and I'm not an olives person, but it went well with the whole portion of this dish. Amberjack crudo was definitely my favorite experience after this. Carrots - this literally was it! Molokhia was good, but it didn't give me the wow factor I thought it would but it was still good. Beef Cheek Fattoush! They had me at beef cheek! Also, it paired well with the watermelon! Dates - very light and fluffy and super fun to see. We had a couple of other desserts to try as well! By the time the last dessert was served, we were genuinely full! Not over the top full, but content type of full. The servers were amazingly patient and extremely attentive while switching during the next menu pairing. I would definitely want to visit when they have a new season. I'll be on the lookout so I can schedule my next vacation to Houston. Oh, and the menu with our person's name was a great touch! This definitely made me appreciate the restaurant a lot more.

The is is truly a Michelin experience. From drinks and small appetizers in the lounge to the seemingly endless courses that tickled each sense, it was a very satisfying experience. Fine dining at its finest. The service was impeccable. It is definitely on the pricey side but you will not feel slighted at the end. Wonderful experience

I returned to March and found that the tasting menu felt even more harmonious than my last visit--surprises and thoughtful pacing throughout the evening made it feel matured and fully dialed in. One of the standout moments was the carrot dish: ras el hanout, chamomile yogurt, kashk and caviar. What began as a humble root vegetable was transformed into an extraordinary plate of complexity and flavour--sweet and salty in perfect balance. Other highlights included the beef chewck fattoush: the richness of the beef cheek paired with black lime tatbila, watermelon and za'atar created a surprising and delightful contrast of savoury depth and crisp freshness. And the molokhia--red sea bream, hummus, green shatta, vermicelli rice--where the flavours shifted from floral beginnings to heat as you progressed through the bite, showing great depth of composition. What elevates the experience beyond the food is the storytelling by the service staff: every dish and wine pairing was explained with insight and care, making the entire evening feel like a carefully curated culinary journey (and that alone is worth this adventure). If you're looking for a fine-dining experience in Houston where flavour, concept and hospitality converge--March hits the mark.

Snacks in cocktail lounge

Overall: This is one of the most elevated dining experiences I've ever had. March boasts a Michelin star, which I think is well deserved. Everything is luxurious, from the cocktail lounge to the dining room, from the first course to dessert. Service is immaculate and each food course is thoughtful and works as part of the full meal. On the evening we went to dinner, the theme of the meal was the Italian city of Genoa, which permeated each course and was described as each dish was brought out. We had the 6 course chef's menu, which ended up being about 8-9 courses with all of the extras thrown in. Nothing is particularly large, but you end up full by the end. It's an excellent overall experience. Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Service: 5 Value: N/A Atmosphere: 5 Food: We had the 6 course tasting menu. The food started out in the cocktail lounge, where we were given four different bites, each themed after a different herb. These were some of my favorite bits of food of the entire evening, as I thought each was unique and really had a strong flavor that set you up for the meal. The six courses of the tasting menu slowly built from ceviche, to salad, to savory dishes, then to dessert. I particularly enjoyed the ceviche, sablefish, and lemon sorbet dessert, though everything was delicious. The menu changes regularly, so its fun to go back for a new experience. My only complaint is that each course is very complex, and the food is only descried verbally in the moment - I wish I had a menu describing the dish so that I could try to pick out and identify each of the flavors and combinations being provided. Drinks: The drink menu in the cocktail lounge is limited to ~5 of their specialty drinks, but they will make anything you can describe to them. Their specialty is their martini, which is made with several types of gin and their house-made vermouth. I'm not typically a fan of martinis, but this one is the best I've had. At dinner we had a bottle of wine. The wine list seems endless, but the sommelier was very helpful in steering us towards a bottle that went with our dinner, catered to our palettes, and was within a reasonable price range. Service: Service here is amazing and part of the experience. You interact with a full array of staff members who serve, describe various aspects of the food and drink, and provide overall service. This level of service is one of the highlight of the meal. Value: Expensive. Go for the experience, not the price. Atmosphere: The entire dinner is experience. The evening starts in the cocktail lounge with a full array of hors d'oeuvres. The dinner then proceeds to the dining room. With a group of 5, we were seated at one of the larger tables at the end of the restaurant. It was nice and well decorated while still giving us space to talk. Everything was positioned to be elegant and luxurious.

Genova Menu, Winter '24: Brioche baby bun and some kind of [not] ravioli, 2-ways with truffle shavings - loved this dish!

December '24 was my second visit to March but first visit post-awarding of the well-deserved Michelin star. After trying all Houston one-star restaurants, March is by far my favorite... tbh, one of my top 3 meals from any Michelin-starred restaurant. This place gives alllll the fancy vibes and is *the* place to impress. TLDR: WORTH THE PRICE! Tips: (1) Reserve ahead, (2) take an Uber - especially if having the wine pairing, (3) have the wine pairing, (4) six courses is enough, (5) try the martini, and (6) veg subs for dishes with foie gras must be requested in advance. Our most recent visit was during the "Genova" menu and the time before was somewhere in Greece... whatever is the current menu theme, though, they do an amazing job of curating and sourcing area-specific dishes & components. The meal is like a mini geography/history lesson. I especially love that they infuse their own vermouth, unique to every menu, which is a welcome drink upon arrival (and part of their incredible martini). On both of our visits, we did the 6-course meal and on both visits, we were SO full by the end. There are several "bonus" courses (i.e. lounge snacks), so I can't imagine how people finish the 9-course menu! We did opt for the wine pairing both times and were not disappointed. All the food is great - the menu is set and changes frequently, so no use promoting specific dishes. I *will* promote the lounge martini, though. I'm going back to the lounge for the martini alone. They do serve foie gras now, which is pretty much the only food I refuse to eat for humanitarian reasons - but you can note a request for a vegetarian sub on any foie gras dishes. Multiple servers mentioned they even liked the vegetarian mousse better than the foie gras mousse from the Genova menu. The service is top-notch, as to be expected. They select (and you don't have to ask) for the black or white napkin. People were by our table all the time, and they recognize that the dinner IS the main event for the evening and don't try to rush you out. After dinner, guests are sent home with a little goody bag that includes MORE sweet treats and housemade herbal tea blend - which I ate/drank immediately upon returning home. Thank you to March for a great 5th marriage anniversary dinner, as well as birthday dinner!

I've been eyeing this spot for a while, and my boyfriend decided to make a reservation for our anniversary. Shortly after, March was awarded with a Michelin star, so I was extra excited to try this restaurant out! The service here was amazing. All the staff were lovely. The timing of each course was perfect, and everything was thoroughly explained. The whole experience lasted about 2.5 hours for the 6 course tasting menu. There were also some complimentary items sprinkled in between which was nice. At the end we received a bag to bring home which contained a box of treats, 2 tins of tea, a happy anniversary card signed by the staff, and the menu. The focus of their current tasting menu is The Republic of Genova. I believe this menu started in August and extends through December 2024. You start off in the quiet, dimly lit lounge area where you're served drinks and a snack tile consisting of 4 bite sized snacks. Then you transition to the dining area to begin your main courses. Unfortunately, we weren't very impressed with the food we were served. The only things we really enjoyed were the first course, capponada, and the lemon sorbet dessert. Everything else was either bland, or I just didn't like the flavor. I found myself just wanting each course to end, but pushing through because I didn't want to waste any food or be impolite. I don't know, maybe this current menu just wasn't for us, and their other ones were better.

Despite usually not reviewing fine dining on Yelp, with the release of the inaugural Michelin Guide for Texas for 2024, I figured I'd provide my thoughts on March in Houston. My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary with the 9-course Exploration Tasting, the theme this season being 'La Superba: The Republic of Genova'. Went here late October, this was my second time at March. FOOD Overall, very solid food, and you can see how the chef's experience and journey to explore his heritage is expressed in the food. I would say food is more storytelling rather than hyper creative/innovative. The capponada (fish soup) and preboggion (salad) were particularly fantastic, very balanced. The two desserts were also noteworthy, very different from other starred places I've been to. My least favorite was the halibut, which was the simplest preparation, and somewhat the oddest, given I'm pretty sure it's not based in the Mediterranean. While beautiful, the Maialino di Latte was a little dry and, to me, not quite luxurious enough to be the final savory main course. SERVICE/AMBIENCE Nice presentation and plating throughout. Good pacing, didn't feel too rushed. Always a treat to start with the lounge for a quick aperitif and snacks. Service was good: waiters exhibited decent soigné, pushing you in when you sit, refolding napkin when you go to the restaurant, open-handed setting, walking with hands behind back, congratulating our anniversary, etc. VERDICT March is THE restaurant in Houston to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays in an intimate setting. If there was a restaurant that would get 2 Michelin stars in Texas, I have no doubt it'd be March. Excited to see what chef comes up with next.

Great service, great ambiance, great food. It's a fine dining experience. When you get there they serve complimentary drink and snacks. Then they take you to the dining room and they start serving right away. They change up their menu I think every six months. We will be back for the new menu!

Beautiful dining room facing the pass

March transports you to a whole different atmosphere; I think it's one of the finest meals you can have in Houston if you're looking for fine dining. The restraurant itself is beautiful, with an aesthetic that somehow manages to be ethereal yet grounded. My date surprised me with a last minute reservation, and we were welcomed in the bar room with a cocktail. (They're also able to make mocktails for anyone who prefers that route!) I was already enamored by the art on the walls and the fine details, down to the lapel pins worn by the staff. The dining room creates a magical experience with the light colors of the decor, and all of the chairs facing the pass for a clear view of the kitchen. The service is impeccable. Friendly, helpful, and inviting. Our 9 course tasting menu was thoughtfully presented, along with bits of history about each course. Shoutout to Rebecca with the cool eyeglasses, thank you for your welcoming warmth! The wine pairings were fantastic, and I can't wait to come back to both the lounge and the restaurant. Definitely a place that will impress.

I had the amazing pleasure of celebrating my birthday last fall at March, just a week before they were awarded one of the first ever Michelin Guide stars in the state of Texas. Unquestionably, this was the best meal I've had in the 2 years since we moved to Houston (and we've eaten everywhere else here that got stars except a BBQ joint in the suburbs). What they do here, from both a culinary and service perspective would make this restaurant a stand-out in any city, though, focusing on very specific regions for each season and highlighting what makes them special through their own sophisticated and modern lens. I love that they nod to tradition but don't obsess over it or let it hold them back. Rather, it becomes the inspiration for a new culinary path forward. I had here the best foie gras dish that I've had in the past 15 years, and that wasn't even my favorite course! (Which was the king crab chawanmushi) The wine pairings (all from the same region as the food inspiration) were all perfect, as were the descriptions and the reasons for their selections. The only possible flaw i could find here is that I wish the lighting was just a bit brighter so I wasn't relying so much on a candle to see my food, but that's just super minor nitpicking. This is honestly worthy of a 2nd star, and I think it's inevitable that Michelin awards it soon. Comparing it to the other 1-star Michelin Guide recipients in Houston is really unfair, as it's for sure on another level. Everything this hospitality group (which also runs Rosie Cannonball and Marigold) does is top-notch within its category, so you always know you're going to be treated well and eating even better. I will say one final note about the "extras" we were sent home with in a cute little bag. They included a birthday card hand-signed by the staff, both the full tasting menu and wine menu write-ups, as well as some treats and teas from the region. This extra level of detail, combined with the incredibly thorough story-telling during dinner, are what "experience" dining should be all about. This little thoughtful things become much more when combined together with the incredible food, and what make March and Goodnight Hospitality stand out from the rest.

March is a true Michelin star experience here in Houston and absolutely deserves the star. If you're looking for a lovely evening with a great dinner experience, look no further. March has a very interesting dining experience in that they are a Mediterranean style restaurant that rotates their menus to highlight a different region of the Mediterranean. Each year they have 2 menus. We came on the very last day of their Genova, Italy menu, lucky us! First, you check inn and they take you upstairs to their lounge where you can get started with some light snacks/amuse bouche so to speak, some drinks, and a place to relax while they get your table set up. Snacks were tasty but certainly not the highlight of the whole experience. We were then taken to our dining table in a gorgeous dining room where our servers introduced themselves and explained the menu and the overall experience. Our dinner itself and wine pairings were delicious. We had some lovely dishes that were really quite excellent, especially for the first few. However, I will say that the later savory entrees left a little to be desired. I think they played them a little too safe and typical for the average tasting menu experience, and the last dish, the pork medallion, was overcooked for me. However, the food overall was very good, worthy of a star, and the wine pairing was the best I've had in Houston so far. Dessert was also great, and service was your typical Michelin star service, very attentive to your needs and quick to notice of you needed something.

So worthy of that Bibendum statue, March is an articulate representation of Houston's inaugural Michelin class. Starting with the smartly unassuming entry and quiet, subtly stunning welcome sip and snack in the lounge, the event eases you into your culinary journey in beautifully staged and scripted fashion. My friend and I partook in the 9-course Exploration Tasting Menu, and we relished in every minute of the adventure through the sweet, savory, earthy, and often complex flavors of Genova. Each bite was unique and the story delightful. My favorite dish was the Capponada, which celebrated the sea, salmon roe pops underscoring the poignant mouthfeel experience. I was least impressed with the Preboggion (salad) course, which I found to be run-of-the-mill in an otherwise eloquent meal that was far from ordinary. Service was warm and welcoming yet polished and refined. We were treated like invited guests, and I very much appreciated the depth of knowledge in the highlighted region and in each facet of the menu. The bag of goodies is a nice touch, reminding me of my 3-star meal in Paris, as it ensures the glorious affair is truly an unforgettable one.

Husband and I went to Chefs choice tasting menu for our anniversary. While I cannot recall everything we ate, it was absolutely delicious! The attention to detail in the plated food, quality and creativity, how the waitstaff exits with the food instead of taking the easy route to the table, etc. It was truly a memorable experience! The only feedback... The cake they gave us at the end of our meal because it was our anniversary was not good. It was very dense and not moist/soft at all. The cake lacked flavor as well. When they brought our check, they gave us a three tiered small bites of desserts. One of which was a ginger gummy of sorts. It honestly was VERY bad. I thought we were being pranked it was that awful! I hated that we parted ways with such a let down on desserts after the previous dishes were pretty much a 10! Dessert is my favorite dish to eat so was pretty bummed they failed in this area. Overall it was a great experience just wish dessert was elevated like the other dishes.

My recent visits here consisted of a Gyros Plate with rice, Hamburger with uncut tomatoes n pickles…read more& lemon potatoes and Greek Spaghetti Meat Sauce on Sunday Special. All 3 meals were really flavorful, good quality, really well-seasoned, very juicy and so delicious. The gyros and burger are without question imo the best in TX. Ekko's and Nick The Greek are 2nd n 3rd for Greek food for me. I always got the gyros sandwich as opposed to the plate before which is odd bc I always prefer meat plates over sandwich form in other foods like bbq, steak, etc. The meat pieces were all really tasty and had some slight char to them too. The taziki sauce is always cold, creamy in feel and refreshing with a good yogurt aroma to it. It's a great bonus and the gyros didn't even need it tbh. The tomatoes were nicely refreshing and the exotic, cool center dolma is always a little treat with meals here. The rice and chunky lemon potatoes with my meals were always mild but still great in texture and prep. As I said before; from my experiences in every single Greek cafe, if the taziki sauce is good, the gyros will be too. It's a solid symptom and indicator imo. As for the burger, very rarely are burger places only in TX actually any good for the past 15 years. So many are just average or below lacking seasoning or a great overall flavor. Niko Niko's, Goode Company Hamburgers and TX Hamburger Palace are my top 3 in that order for it. Each different too. The brioche buns were just the right thickness and very soft to make the beef patty stick out well. The patty was so nice in charbroiled taste, saltiness, richness, beefiness and tender in every bite. A good burger doesn't need much in toppings, but cool, refreshing, tomatoes are a must for me and pickles add some tangy crunch too. For steak rare, but for a burger medium to medium rare. I had never seen or heard of their Greek Spaghetti n Meat Sauce before. This was like a Greek Bolognese with a lot of love in its flavor. The noodles were drained, very moist and so soft. I don't like too much cheese, so I took some off, but still like some. The meat sauce gravy itself was really flavorful, savory, fatty enough and had that subtle sweet, warm spice aroma you get in the Greek lasagna. I like to get dessert here sometimes when I have extra room, bc they have some great options like their galaktobourreko, chocolate ganache cake, etc. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient on these visits.

The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. But this could just be me.
