I hesitated, asked a few questions about applying that charge to eventual repair cost and then left mystified. When I got home, I checked with my trusted AI agent to find out about this. I was told that shops do charge to run diagnostics and that $209 was very high, especially given that the charge will not offset the cost of the repair. My agent suggested that I go to AutoZone and for $10 they can retrieve the code that might give a clue as to what the problem is. Among the possible causes for the engine-light was loose gas cap. Low and behold, that was it and for $10 I solved the problem that Sullivan tire would have charged me $209 to discover. Why didn't the technician at the front suggest that before trying scamming me out of $209 unnecessarily? Does he know that? I'm sure he does and Sullivan tire does as well. I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future.

I ask if I can see the dipstick and am told yes they will show it to you after. As I turned to get into my car I am now joined by the manager who came up from behind who now says to me you gotta wait in your car or you can leave. I get it, must wait in car. But where does it say " Make sure you are jerk to your potential customer?". I told him tank you for the option and left. $108 bucks should buy a little bit of patience and more importantly some way better demeanor with customers. Maybe he was having a bad day, maybe he's just jerky on rainy Thursdays. The workers seem nice but the prices seem high for what I was offered.

So I searched for a quick oil change place that was close by. This location came up. After reading reviews, I decided it was worth a shot. I could not have been happier!! It was only 7 mins from my hotel. When I pulled up, they directed me to one of the 3 open bays. When I stopped, the Asst Manager on duty (Jakob) was super nice. He told me I could stay in the vehicle for the entire time of the oil change (which was only 10 minutes!!). He politely asked if he could reach in the open window to reset the oil gauge and made small talk with me for the duration of the change. He explained what his team was doing as they ran through the various aspects of the inspection (tire pressure, headlights, brake lights, wipers, etc.). His team of Reynald, Oscar, Tommy and Michael were efficient, polite and professional. I was super impressed with this location's service and would recommend to anyone who needs an oil change. Cost of the oil change was around $100 and I was in/out in 10 minutes.

They clearly explained the work needed..in my case a ck engine light was flashing on my daughters 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and while suspecting the catalytic converter they suggested a tuneup first hoping that would solve the problem w/o having to replace the converter. A week, 6 spark plugs, 6 ignition coils & $2200 later the ck engine light came back on (something they told me could happen) and I had to have the cat. converter replaced anyway... which I had done @ another shop closer to home that specializes in that type work. No doubt the plugs & coils needed replacing but I just thought $2200 for a tuneup was way too expensive...the garage that ultimately replaced the converter confirmed my thinking telling me I overpaid by about $500 for the tuneup. In summary if you're in a pinch like I was and can't shop around, Two Guys Garage can certainly be trusted to do quality and timely work... just be sure to bring your checkbook cause it's gonna cost ya.
