Marco's is head and shoulders above an unusual glut of local pizza options in a small river town like Marietta, PA. Their pizza has a good crust -- thin enough to fold and eat, but with a good flavor as well. (Sicilian style also is available if you prefer a thicker crust.) Like all good pizza, you don't need to hide this under a pile of toppings. Just the pizza, maybe just add pepporoni or mushrooms or whatever your favorite is. When I was new to Marietta, I tried all the local places and Marco's is #1 for pizza, and also #1 for having a full menu. Marco's also has a meatball sub that would make your Italian grandma blush. Order it with a layer of mozzerella on top and it comes out all toasted and crispy and tasting like childhood in NYC. The menu has other Italian staples like pasta and garlic bread, but it doesn't stop there. If you want some turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, Marco's has it. Not fancy by any means. If you are looking for ambiance, go elsewhere. The menu is varied, you can get sandwiches, pizza, Italian food and other choices. The prices are very fair and the bar prices are also affordable. Down home friendly service. Had zeppolis for dessert---$4.10 and 3 people couldn't finish them. I would say it's pretty much a standard pizza shop but it does serve alcohol. Food is average. Just beware of staff have gotten take out from there twice and both people who ran me up were rude. It was like they were doing me a favor waiting on me. Asked each of them a question about order and they did the "big sigh" before answering me. Thought it must be a miserable place to work if this is how all their staff acts. Probably won't go back because even if their food was fabulous ( which it isn't) the staff is really not very nice. I have repeatedly tried to like the pizza and bolis for 25 years, 2nd chance after 59th chance. Its just so hit or miss. I would seriously tell the customer something happened and its going to be an extra 10 min to try again, the 1st one was practice. Or, how about sorry we close in 1/2 hr, this came out no so great but if i want it, how about 1/2 price. Where do I start, a 19" pizza jammed into a 16" box and folded over on 3 sides, cold in a 1/4 mile drive home and supposedly just finished(the box wasnt really hot), super thin, yet super soggy, way too much ground beef, and piled in the middle, last order exact same with only plain cheese. Thats a $20 value......worst part is you absolutely knew that pizza was garbage when you pulled it and put it in the box. Its a shame, the owner is super nice guy. Very surprised about how the "talent" working here is willing to serve the worst food that they would never want to eat or pay for. I ordered meatsauce on my eggplant pasta dish. They gave me a dried up hamburger that they chopped up and threw red sauce on it. There is no culinary excellene here. That level of lazy is sad and abhorrent. Redneck italian at it's best. Lol. Do not order pizza here. We recently ordered pizzas here and they made the entire order so soupy, it was disgusting. The pizza maker knew this but still decided to sell us the pizza. Upon returning home, the cheese and all the toppings were smeared all over the box. The crust was all soggy too due to the excess of sauce used by these careless pizza makers. If you like soggy crust and soupy pizzas this is your spot. You'd be better off ordering dominos cause at least their pizza doesn't look like this. read more

As a few of you may know, to me there is no other food that completes your needed necessities like pizza. Think about it; dairy, vegetable, grain and meat. All on a single hand held slice. Am I right? I am also VERY picky about my pizza as I was raised in an area (outside Philly) where absolute pizza perfection was easily come by. When I lived in Raleigh, I had found my local 'za shop and was devoted. Now that I am in Burlington however, it has been a difficult journey finding a decent pizza place. So when I planned a trip up North, my first thought was 'PIZZA!!'. My friend obliged me this idiosyncrasy because she too feels the same way about pizza. So when I finally arrived after a hectic drive, we headed off to Marco's. When you walk in you can pretty much sit where you want. As soon as you sit, a VERY friendly server will approach the table asking what you want to drink while you peruse the menu. They are very helpful in this area and patient if you are undecided like I was . We just ordered a large pie extra sauce. When it came, you could tell right away this was going to be a treat. It wasn't too doughy, not too greasy. My only complaint was the cheese was a little (just a touch) undercooked and there could have been a little Italian spices on top of the cheese. The sauce...oh the sauce. It is obviously a homemade sauce that was passed down for generations. We had a great time chatting with the folks dining there & the workers. It was everything I could ask for in a pizza and I walked away super full! read more

Unprofessional delivery driver, impolite staff and awful food. Paid the driver for my order with a $50 bill, she leaves, returns 10 minutes later and BANGS on my front door demanding I "open my door" and "pay for my food". I call the manager to let them know what's going on and the experience I just had all she has to say is "oh sorry" After all this I open the pizza and it looks like the lady dropped it on the ground. Cool- cut open my calzone which I added green peppers and onions to and ... there's none! What an awful all around lack of quality. I don't know why I keep trying them again and again despite the issues. The food is good, however after tonight, it's the last straw. Order took an hour and a half for a small pizza and a Stromboli. Ordered margarita pizza with extra basil. Maybe had three or four basil leaves on it. Order Stromboli with dipping sauce. No dipping sauce. Called when order was late and said it was out in the delivery drivers care. When it arrived, pizza was cold enough the cheese had set up and Stromboli was barely warm. There were no other deliveries in the car. More than likely this order sat on the counter for awhile until we called. Foods good, usually. It's hit or miss. I've been down just as many times as I've been happy with them. Just keep your expectations low I suppose. read more

Don't bother. Plenty of other places around that are much better as far as food goes. My husband ordered a meatball sub. He couldn't even finish it as it was so bland. The bread on the sub was subpar at best. Meatballs tasted like they were from a cheap bag of frozen meatballs from the grocery store. The pizza was so-so. I've found it rather difficult to find a quality pizza pie in the area from a local pizza shop. Finally got around to trying Marco's and was quite impressed for this area. First visit: two large cheese pizzas, takeout. Basic but a great judge of ingredients and whether it's worth returning. First impression: opened the pizza box and instantly smelled the mozzarella. Color was natural and I didn't get the processed cheese vibe from it. The taste matched appearance, was happy with the ingredients they used. Second visit: Cheesesteak Stromboli. Second impression: wow, the dough is fantastic. You know how in some Stromboli you don't want to eat the doughy end piece? Well, the taste here was fantastic. I would be happy just eating the ends of the Stromboli. The cheesesteak and onions went great with it. This is going to be our go-to local pizza place for the area. Can't wait to try more! read more

New to the Marietta area. Gave it a try and ordered a cheesesteak stromboli and it was awesome. The crust never got soggy even when I heated the leftovers for lunch the next day. The file week we ordered the Giovanni's pizza. It an everything pizza & it was amazing. I love that they are not skippy on the toppings. My husband is very fussy about pizza & he really loved the stromboli & lived the pizza enough to eat the leftovers! This place is a must try! read more

I'm torn with this review... my latest experience with Marco's didn't go so well. That said, I've eaten at this restaurant and ordered pizza from this restaurant multiple times and haven't been disappointed with that. So here's what happened during my last experience... I placed an order for mild buffalo wings, BBQ wings, and cheese fries. I also ordered ranch and celery for the BBQ order... and bleu cheese and celery for the buffalo order. Was the order ready quickly? Yes. Was the food pretty good? Yes. The downside? When I arrived to pick the food up, my cheese fries were not included in my take out bag. I had to drive back to the restaurant to pick up my fries. Another downer - the dressings and celery cost an additional $1.25 per order of wings. After paying $6.45 for 10 wings to begin with, you end up paying like 80-cents per wing w/ the dressings. Maybe I'm out of touch with the cost of eating wings? Ok, I might be willing to agree. Maybe I should have looked closer at the menu before I ordered? Sure. Either way, I wasn't really thrilled with my last visit to Marco's... and it was an inconvenience to have to go back to the restaurant to pick up the fries when it wasn't my bad that I didn't get them the first time. Will I eat here again? Of course - the restaurant is like a mile from my house. Plus, the pizza is very good. But was I happy with the pricing and the experience of my last visit? I have given this restaurant its last chance. They will never get another dime from me or anyone who knows me. I would give it a ZERO star review if I could... Here's why: I have lived in Marietta for over a year. The day that I moved in I ordered 3 cheese pizzas and two 2 liters. My bill was absolutely ridiculous, but I needed to feed my movers and just didn't bother questioning it. The next day I saw my credit card receipt and I was charged over $43 for the food. That's ridiculous. I never actually tried their pizza that day. We ordered a pie from them about a month later and it was gross. The crust was undercooked, swimming in sauce, and the cheese was barely melted. The last straw was the day that we returned from vacation. We decided to get sandwiches and Marcos is the closest place for us. I placed an order online and showed up promptly to pick up. I stood at the counter for over 4 minutes before an employee came to the counter. The employee did not greet me. Instead, she picked up the phone and began taking an order. Another customer entered the business to buy some beverages. He stood behind me in line. At this point the employee has been on the phone for 3 minutes. A waitress then greets the customer BEHIND me in line. The customer was respectful enough to direct the waitress in my direction. After all of this headache, my order was STILL wrong. The employee who took the order misrepresented the sandwich that we ordered, stating that it came with vegetables that were not on the sandwich as it was made for me. read more

My wife and I went there for lunch and we not be going back. Never heard of a place that can't clean a little spot on the grill for someone that has allergies. On top of that, the fan above us so caked in dust to where it hasn't been clean for months. Thank God they didn't turn it on and I would have lost it. I was nice enough to give them a 2 star, only because the waitress was by herself in seating, serving, doing takeout, and answering phones and doing a decent job to keep up. Other than that, it stank and we will not be back. For having a cleaning crew come in.... You might want to get your money back or hire a new crew. Horrible pizza! I am a native NY'er so I take my pizza very seriously. Mario's can't make a decent pizza to save their lives. That being said, their burgers are pretty good, homemade bread is great on their subs, and wings are ok. I recently ordered their lasagna and while the portion was much smaller than I have ever had, it was pretty tasty. My husband ordered a stromboli, which isn't actually a stromboli, it was pretty good as well. I will continue to order from Marco's - just no pizza ever again. read more

We were walking nearby on the River Trail, and wanted some pizza to satisfy our hunger, and thought to try this place on the way home. Upon entry I did notice the presence of cigarettes and a full ashtray by the door, as another Yelper had pointed out. I saw a transaction in the parking lot also, and some shiftier people sitting there. But anyways.. the interior is dark and there is a nice wide wood plank flooring. We were the only diners except for some regulars at the bar, which was in a separate room. There was one server and one man up front handling phones and such. We ordered a medium pepperoni and a side salad with the house dressing and hubby had a tasty local beer, She Devil maybe? It tasted like cotton candy. Very nice. We would have bought some to take home if it were available. The side salad was nice, the tomatoes tasted fresh. Cucumber was a bit sad. The dressing was really tasty, kind of like a cheesy ranch. The pizza was only so so. Too much sauce, and it tasted like a pasta sauce. Too much oregano. Honestly, it tasted like Elio's frozen pizza to me. The pepperoni was different that I am used too. The crust was blah. We ate it all anyway because we were hungry, but it didn't make me roll my eyes in pleasure. I bought a whoopie pie on the way out and it was spectacular though! The best I ever had actually, I was shocked. It was moist and tasted kind of like a juicy Hostess cupcake. I've been a customer of this restaurant for 20 years, and unfortunately this past visit is probably my last. I find the food to be outstanding, but the level of service and condition of the property is reaching unacceptable levels. For whatever reason, the waitresses refuse to write down customer's table service orders. This has resulted in my order being completely wrong 3 of the 4 past visits. I have mentioned this to the waitress Cristy, the kitchen manager, and Marco himself (all very good people, by the way) yet the errors continue. I realize mistakes happen, but a 75% failure rate is not good...especially when the problem can be fixed with a pen and pad of paper. The other problem is that there is a patio area you must walk through in order to enter the restaurant. This area has been taken over by the local trailer park denizens that chain smoke cigarettes and slug down beer. When you finally make it into the restaurant, the creatures from the patio are entering the bar area every five minutes to partake in their evening meal 12 ounces at a time. This is absolutely fine if your goal is to have a craphole biker bar...but if you're wondering why families are no longer coming to dine indoors, you have your answer. Lastly, I'm not so sure Marco is spending much time overseeing operations anymore. I've been a customer of Marco's for almost a year now and went in today to get the "pizza special" ...we saw our regular waitress (who is always very nice to us) . Not realizing it was only 4:46 pm and the special didn't start till 5:00 pm . She knew we were really good customers and was told that she would have to ask "Ron" in the kitchen if he would give us the pizza special . As we were standing there right at the kitchen window we heard a very loud guttural NO!!! ...that was really really rude ...i mean not to not nicely say that if we would be willing to wait we could get the pizza special. (I'm sure the pizza would take about 15 to 20 minutes to make and cook! I really like this place. Marco's makes a great pizza. We stopped in to dine in their restaurant the other day. I hadn't realized they had a sit down area. It is much bigger than I thought. The tables are large and seating is spacious, plus it is very clean. Their server was a super sweetheart who was on top of her game. We had a ham and cheese pizza along with a margarita pizza. Both were excellent. The margarita was a definite favorite, not too much tomatoes, the right amount of cheese and basil. Just perfect! I look forward to stopping in again to try some of their other menu items. Also, they do have a bar area if you would like an alcoholic beverage. read more
