Good Italian in ME seems very rare! We have been looking for some good chicken parm for several years and have probably tried a dozen places. Finally tried this place and it was awesome! We're remodeling and have no kitchen this Thanksgiving!! So where's a place that six of us can go for dinner?? Well my husband had gone to Marco's in the past for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was (really!) over the river... not so much through the woods, though... so there we went. At $20 per person the buffet was a bit overpriced, but had most of the traditional fixings (turkey, squash, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, etc.) as well as Italian favorites like tortellini and lasagna. Nice salad bar and dessert table (though the lemon merengue pie was frozen!?!?) began and ended the meal. The staff was friendly and festive and really felt like extended family. Our waiter was extremely unprofessional. After the bill was paid for our party of 6, he returned to the table asking if the service wasn't good because only a 15% tip was left. We were shocked and embarrassed. So for the matter of $2-$3, you lost 6 customers. Hope it was worth it... read more

We loved our first visit to Marco's. We went on the advice of a friend, and were glad we did. Our waitress had the "magic touch:" a superb, efficient waitress with an engaging personality. She balanced storytelling (at my request) with server duties, and charmed me entirely. Our food was delicious, and more than sufficient, so I had a lovely lunch the next day. I did have spumoni for dessert despite not finishing my dinner, just because it has been a long time since I have had it. Yum. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was serene, as a nice dining room should be. The wine list is good, and I had a lovely Chianti that I cannot wait to go back and try again. Didn't even get a chance to taste the food. We were quoted a 15-20 minute wait but the wait began to approach 45 minutes without a single attempt to update us on the long overrun. A hostess then approached and said they'd have a booth ready in a couple minutes before another 15 minutes passed. My group decided to take our business elsewhere. read more

We had a very disappointing experience here. The baked shells I had were gummy and undercooked, the pasta sauce was clearly from a can, as was the gross gelatinous tasting Alfredo sauce. It would shock me if anything they serve in the restaurant is actually fresh. My boyfriend had a seafood dish with skimpy portions of the seafood, and extremely bland flavorless pasta underneath. He doesn't complain about food, ever, and couldn't even finish it. We will not waste our money here again. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner here tonight, and the food was wonderful! Entrees served in a timely fashion and temperature appropriate upon arrival. Our server, Dennis, was very attentive and went well above and beyond in his role. The type of service he provided is not seen often enough these days. My husband, sister and I went for supper tonight and we were so surprised by the lack of service. The food was not as tasty as it used to be years ago but it was not horrible. I could have been okay with it but the service on the other hand was horrible. Our waiter was Chris and he was not very thoughtful at all. He never gave us refills on our drinks, it took him forever to even come over to our table the first time and the meal came so slowly that we were sitting there bored because we had already talked for at least 30 minutes. To make a very long story short, we waited more than if we were waiting for a flight at the airport. When it was time for the check, he never asked how everything was but managed to find our bills with no problem. He just forgot to tell us if we pay him or go to the front. We waited 15 minutes to get a take home container from him and then the one he gave me had a cut in the bottom that I was not aware of and was leaking on the counter out front when we went to pay cause 15 minutes waiting to be told who to pay was long enough to wait. I find it hard to believe this man makes a living at waiting tables. He should clean up his act and be there for the customer. We ended up being at the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours and it only took us 20 minutes to truly eat. I see from other comments that there are lots of other people that have had a problem with service. Management should read these and take care of business before there isn't any I don't believe we will return there or recommend it to any of our friends. P.S. They do not deserve 1 star for service. Don't know which Marco's "Kevin R" went to, but the introductory staff and wait staff were very polite and attentive. The quality and taste of the food was great, but the portion size certainly won't help my waistline!! We brought home enough for my wite and I to each have another enjoyable meal. HIGHLY recommend Marco's in Lewiston, Maine - BUT - either make a reservation, or get there well after Lunch or before Dinner. My daughter took me to lunch there on April 28,2016. The booth was okay. We had the buffet and it was COLD. The person that finally came over to see if we going to have anything more was not what I call a very good wait person. One check or two. Told her one and she sat it down never to be seen again. My wife and I love Marco's, lunch buffet a good quick meal could use some improvement ( thats way not 5 stars), Dinner time is when they really rock. We go in for dinner and order from the menu and if we feel like some thing different that is not on the menu we simply ask, if they know the plate that we want, they make it for us. Blehh! Lunch buffet was sorely lacking. Tasteless frozen meatballs, congealed Alfredo and frozen popcorn shrimp were among the more appealing entrees. Salad section was gross. Lots of crossover of ingredients and containers were topped off instead of replaced. Needed a good cleaning! No signage or tags indicating what the entrees or soups were, which would have been helpful since several were not recognizable. read more

Marcos was fantastic! We tried it for the first time because we have the Dine Around Card and we are so happy we did. Ignore any negative reviews, they're just wrong. Our waitress, Zoey, was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We made a date of the evening, having cocktails and appetizers to start. Our drinks were great and the appetizers were delicious. We chose the calamari and the pizza egg rolls on the special list, which were a perfect Asian and Italian fusion. Our entrees were huge and well worth every penny. My wife and I have been here a few times and loved the food. With great expectations, we went this evening and we left quite disappointed. The food was okay to say the least and the service was horrible. Twenty minutes until a drink order was taken, and a question of Coke or Pepsi products ended with a Pepsi coming right up. Side salad with Caesar dressing for my wife ended up being a 3.00 dollar charge because it became a Caesar salad. My Seafood Florentino had a couple of unopened mussels. That means they were either under cooked or bad. The sauce had no flavor. The waiter didn't even ask how the food was, as he didn't seem to exist. My biggest concern was the guest book in the backside of his pants: can you as owners show any proof that this is approved by the health code in Maine or any other state? I used a large amount of santizer when I left after paying for mediocre food and horrible service with a potential infection control issue. read more

Whenever I go to an Italian restaurant I order Alfredo. It's hands down one of the easiest sauces in the world to make. Marco's has the worst Alfredo I've ever tasted. It took awhile before I finally realized that it tastes just like those crappy Michelinas frozen dinners. I have Celiac Disease and called ahead to order my lunch to bring back to work. I ordered the chicken and sausage siciliano. I have had it before and loved it. When I opened it at work, I noticed it wasn't the same type of pasta, but ate a little anyway. My stomach started to bother me, so I called them to ask about the pasta. The girl that answered the phone said that I was the 2nd one. I asked if that meant it wasn't gluten free and she said yes, but that it wasn't very common. Celiac Disease is becoming more common every day!! I brought my remaining food back to them and the cook came out to offer me more food. No thanks, I'm all set with them poisoning me once. They offer gluten free foods on the menu, but need to be educated on food allergens. read more

I can't wait to rave about the outstanding service that our table/group from SeniorsPlus received when we had our Advisory Council meeting there on 6-19-2014. The coffee was hot-the water was served in a pitcher filled with ice, and the food was delicious and our every need was anticipated by our waiter. What was the most impressive was the thoughtful way in which an employee, Ms. Becky Borges, went above and beyond to assist a lady in our group who was ill in the bathroom. Becky kept checking on her and brought her a glass of water. Becky made a point of letting us know that one of our members wasn't feeling very well and afterwards, she thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the entire bathroom after having already cleaned it earlier in the morning! I had never been to Marco's Restaurant in Lewiston prior to the 6-19-2014 meeting with SeniorsPlus but I can say that I will go again. I'm amazed by some of the negative reviews-shocked, really. Everyone that our group encountered was pleasant, more than happy to get whatever we asked for and the waiter was very prompt and courteous. Please folks, offer suggestions that will be helpful if you feel so inclined-otherwise, the hard working folks at Marco's won't KNOW how to improve or to make you happy as a paying customer if you aren't clear about getting your needs met.
