I feel like being a Portland local means I just re-review the same places over and over as time progresses as we watch the city change. This diner is one of the very few things in town that just gets better and better with time. The food is incredible, serving sizes are generous, and the muffins are out of this world. Marcy's is a special place to a good friend of mine, and she has been begging me to try it for years. I am so glad that I was finally able to make the trip! This diner is the best little hole in the wall in Portland. Great service, awesome decor, and the best muffins in town (try the raspberry one if they have it!). Fun breakfast spot in the heart of downtown Portland. Place was small (5 booths plus 10 counter seats) so we had to wait about 20 minutes outside for seating to open up. Food was super delicious. I got the corn beef hash and eggs while my partner got the pastrami sandwich. Was fun to watch the staff work which ran like a machine in such a small space. Biggest complaint I saw from other reviews was the price. I will admit it was a hair on the high side, but it is a small independent restaurant so it was good knowing what we paid was staying in the local economy. Don't pass this place up. read more

They worked like a symphony in such a small place. Our waitress joked with us and we adored her from the start. I asked for my home fries well done and let me tell you, they were perfection! Ok Marcy's is so good. We went on a Saturday around 930, we snagged the last two seats at the bar. The atmosphere is 10/10 so cozy like high ceilings and the restaurant is narrow and long and it's intentionally outdated/unchanged and it's awesome. So initially we looked at the menu and was like eh menu is small. I was sweating a little because I chose BUT it was like the absolute best. They had home made cinnamon rolls that are so nostalgic they reminded me of the pilsbury cinnamon rolls that I had growing up but so much better like bigger and almost under cooked but in a really good way. You know how sometimes you order a cinnamon roll and the sides are like stiff and kind of dry these were soooo doughy and the frosting was ooc. Ok and that was just the impulse buy. Edit:: came back just to tell you they heated the frigging cinnamon roll up before they gave it to me. Which was obviously incredible. So for main breakfast I had a custom veggie omelette feta, onion, broccoli. Oh god it was so good the egg part is very thin and not over cooked at all, again, you know how you order an omelette and the outside is rubbery- not the case. The frigging hash browns are incredible I saw them putting them on the grill pretty sure they were using fresh potato only because they were going on and they weren't frozen. So the hash browns they cook CRISPY and id like to know what type of potato because parts were almost mashed potato-y. My partner had the burrito which he said was "best breakfast I Eva had- I told the owna, then they gave me a muffin" (Boston accent). So whatever place was so good I loved it you should go. read more

Excellent food and service! Visiting Portland with some friends for a State St. show on a snowy January weekend we were all in need of Saturday morning recovery food. A short walk from the hotel brought us to Marcy's. The ambiance is what you want in a breakfast spot especially after too many Portland night beers. The place was packed but the staff was moving things along so the wait wasn't too bad. Unfortunately my friends are all wide bodies so I took one for the team and sat at the counter while they got a booth. The hostess offered to split us up into two tables but I was fine at the counter to allow more people behind us to get a booth. The waitress and behind the counter staff kept me entertained as well as the fellow counter patrons. The cook made sure I got my food first before my friends to make them jealous. Excellent eggs, toast, bacon and coffee -- what else can you ask for. My buddies loved their food too. We will definitely be back after we either dump a friend or make them start hitting the Ozempic so I can get a booth seat!! The staff had a great vibe and they worked their tails with a smile. They get the breakfast basics right. Try the grilled bagels. Wonderful old-timey New England diner in the heart of Portland. Pretty standard dinner fare, with a homey vibe inside. We tried the veggie omelette (loaded with fresh veggies and cheese), pancakes, and various grilled breakfast meats. The service was very friendly, the wait was honest, and the grilled blueberry muffin was the highlight of the meal! It does get pretty busy particularly on weekend mornings, so I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier than you'd like to eat. read more

We are in town for a weekend baseball tournament. Maine has not disappointed in terms of food, and Marcy's Diner was fabulous! It has an old school feel, with excellent music setting the ambiance. MARCYS IS A MUST!!! Found this on Yelp and was close to hotel. Went our first morning in Portland and was so good we went back the next 2 mornings of our trip. 3 days in a row and still amazing. I had the Cap'n Crunch french toast and a breakfast sandwich. 10/10 for both. The french toast is sweet, but the slight saltiness of the cereal crust makes it just right. Breakfast sandwich was phenomenal as well with the perfect ratio of egg, cheese & sausage. My mom had the breakfast burrito & added jalapeños. She said it was one of the best she's had. The staff was beyond friendly and remembered us each morning. The owner was beyond sweet and gave us a blueberry muffin just for raving about her restaurant.
