Our last meal in FL before heading off to the airport and then home. What a treat and we'll definitely be back! It was raining outside but inside, it was colorful and festive. I liked the quirky fish decor on the walls, made from kitchen utensils. There was a large party celebrating a birthday along with a couple of smaller groups and then us, a party of six. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, very thorough when he described the dishes. From the Chicha Moradas through to our Chocolucuma Mousse, the food was fantastic. I really enjoyed my Parilla Marina and the sauces that came with it.

Wow I was blown away with this dinner! Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and recommended a few things to try and I would re get them all ! The ceviche was so citrusy and yummy and a perfect portion to split as an app. The octopus was tender and grilled wonderfully with potatoes and corn this was a good size portion! The sauces were also delicious. The steak with the plantains instead of fries was a great move and combo together! It was cooked exactly how I like it and seasoned well. I definitely can't wait to go back!! With indoor and outdoor seating it's a lovely place to get dinner then go explore park Ave.

I was excited to check out this new Peruvian restaurant on Park Ave and decided to go for a girls night with some friends. Upon arrival, we opted to sit outside on the avenue. To me, the ambiance of the place does not feel like an upscale evening dinner spot, though the prices would suggest so. The lights inside were bright as can be and it felt very casual - more like a daytime cafe. We were also pretty much the only customers there at this time. We ordered some drinks and I got their fresh passionfruit juice which was soooo good! My friends ordered the pisco sour and the chicha morada. We also started with some apps -- the classic papa a la huancaina ($19) and the tostones rellenos (fried green plantains filled with lomo saltado) ($24). I would definitely recommend the tostones for a good sharing dish and the flavor of the meat was very tasty. I've had papa a la huancaina many times and it was standard, though $19 for 2 halved boiled potatoes is pretty steep imo. For our main dishes, we got the causa sampler, arroz chaufa fried rice, and the huancaina pappardelle pasta with grilled steak. I like getting to share and try multiple things with friends and this was my first time trying causas. I really enjoyed the huancaina pasta the most. The steak was well-seasoned, but it was a bit tough. I'd opt for the lomo saltado next time. Of course, no Peruvian dinner is complete without some alfajores cookies for dessert. They're served 3 to an order which was the perfect way to cap off our meal on a sweet note.

Mares recently opened up 4 months and I had the pleasure of dinning here over the weekend. Our server was informative and attentive, which made our visit more of an experience! The ceviche was an absolute standout, my Peruvian partner really enjoyed it! The combination of citrusy and spicy flavors was balanced perfectly! We were thrilled to see anticuchos on the menu - it was thinly sliced served on a skillet plate, it was tender and the choclo was slightly toasted which was a great touch! The medium rare filet mignon in the lomo saltado was cooked perfectly, however, I was a bit disappointed with the accompanying fries that fell short compared to the quality of the meat. The chaufa, unfortunately, was underwhelming. It was very good, but didn't wow me as much as the rest of the plates, the pickled daikon lacked the expected crunch. The rest of the meal was enjoyable and I recommend this Peruvian restaurant, with the ceviche and anticuchos as must tries!

This brand new Winter Park Location of Mares was great! I saw they opened in the beginning of September through IG, and I just had to go. They have their other location in the Hunters Creek Location in Orlando. This location was bright, colorful, lively, & the food reflected it too. Peruvian is def a fave food for me, so no doubt this would be a stop for us. I ordered the tacu tacu which is a crunchy rice bean combo and it came with seafood and a creamy sauce. My husband had his fave pesto noodles with Pollo Saltado. Both are so tasty and so much flavor. They also gave me a Peruvian alfajores cookie for my birthday. They are shortbread sandwich cookies with Dulce de leche in the middle. Our server was a sweetheart and super friendly as everyone else was. Four stars bc it was tacky that one of the managers kept pushing for reviews from everyone. Food and service talk for themself. We came at an earlier dinner time around 5 pm and it quickly filled up. If noise is not your thing, it does get noisy and echoey and there is an outside seating option. Would definitely go back!! Great spot on the picturesque main walking area in Winter Park!

Mares Combinados Jalea, Arroz con Mariscos, Tiradito and Ceviche

We went at 11:30 in the morning when they had just opened. We were greeted right away with a smile. The place is walking distance to public parking if you can't find any parking on the street. First time at this place and trying out Peruvian food. The place is very nice and fairly quiet even when other customers started walking in. We were disappointed they didn't have any lunch menu as the entrees were pretty pricey. However we decided to share the mixed platter which was around $50. Pricey but well worth it! The jalea was perfectly fried - loved the fish, calamari was very tender. Ceviche was also delicious. Did not care too much for the tiradito (sp?). The arroz con mariscos was tasty but was cold when served. I would have preferred it to be hot. We also tried a couple of their traditional drinks, the Pisco sour and another drink that now I can't remember. Both were very good. We would definitely go back again to try the other dishes.

Mares had one of the best peruvian flavors that I've had in Central Florida. To begin, the server offered us Chirimoya juice, which I had never had in the US so I knew we were off to a good start. As an appetizer I ordered the Ceviche carretillero if I'm not mistaken. Spice level was perfect to the medium I ordered, fish was fresh and it had all the authentic additions such as the choclo and canchitas. For the main dish, my partner and I shared the Pescado a lo macho. The sauce was the star of the show. It was creamy and went perfectly with the flakey and tender fish. It had a decent amount of seafood to top it off. We were extremely happy with the great authentic flavors.

The portions are generous and the food is delicious! A culinary gem among Peruvian, restaurants popping up in the Orlando area. Excellent, helpful service that was always attentive yet not intrusive. Ambiance was clean with an intriguing ceiling.

We have been looking for a good Peruvian restaurant ever since we moved from the West Coast, and Mares has emerged as an outstanding candidate for the best we have found to date. For starters, the service was absolutely amazing, which is rare in Florida, but not only was it good for Florida, it was amazing period! The food itself did not disappoint at all. The Ceviche was absolutely beautiful, hit all the right notes and was fresh. Apparently the fish is flown in daily from Peru, but my memory may be failing me, so please don't quote me on that. The Limo Soltado was perfect, perfectly balanced, not too much rice, not too much sauce, and not too much potato. An absolute delight. The Parihuela was spot on, beautiful seafood broth and an explosion of delicious flavors and fresh seafood. We will always return whenever in Orlando. And with the weather so great, you can sit outside and enjoy the weather and the great ambiance of the location.

I had brunch with my mom and stepdad at Mares Real Peruvian last month when we spent a day exploring Winter Park. I picked it because they have some great vegan options on the menu (my mom is vegan). She enjoyed the vegan maki and the vegan (mushroom) ceviche. My stepdad and I shared a maki and the ceviche mixto. We also shared the suspiro for dessert. Overall, the food was good. The service was also good, and the restaurant was beautiful. Overall, it was a nice brunch.

Last two items the desserts I never order them. But $142 for 3 people it's a bit much.

The food here was below average for a Peruvian restaurant and prices about 50% higher than any other Peruvian restaurant. Obviously the location has a lot to do with the pricing. I'm not from this area so I didn't realize of the area until I was there and realized the pricing was higher. Service was ok, but they charged me for two dessert that I did not order. I called after I left the restaurant and they did apologized and issue me a refund. Which I'm still waiting for. The ambience it's what you're paying for. Try it if you want but I'll pass.

Now Cerviche Central and rebranded. The restaurant is beautiful, the service is amazing and the food is excellent!

Fresh and really good. Got the trio which we split and was fantastic. Wish the appetizers were more like $10-$15 and not the same price as the entrees. Otherwise look forward to going back!
