Today ive ordered the fresh guac, rajas de Jalapeños, kids quesadilla meal and some steak tacos. First off they forgot my drink that comes with the kids meal. I tried to pick up a taco and all 3 proceeded to break apart. Its kinda bad when u gotta eat a taco with a spoon. Meat was dry and Tortilla was even worse. That wasnt the worst part. If ur paying $13 for some fresh guac, i would hope to get some guac. What i received was pathetic. Take a look at the pic yourself and decide. Jalapeño poppers did not disappoint, but the table side guacamole needed a splash more lime and cilantro for my taste. We asked for medium, but are pretty sure we got mild. The highlight of our meal was the passion fruit sangria; delightfully smooth with just enough sour. The taco salad was very good, but the tortilla bowl was a tad greasy. The fish tacos needed a makeover; they were a simple chunk of white fish with no flavor. Steer clear. We also sampled the combo platter, which included the disappointing fish taco, a chicken burrito (eh), and an impressive steak enchilada, which was full of flavor. We had a party of 21 there today. The staff was BEYOND accommodating. We had a few members of our party with dietary restrictions. They offered menu substitutions and listened to their wishes and concerns. Since we were there for a party we asked them twice to lower the music so speeches could be made. They gladly did this. Food was plentiful and good. The flan was probably the best flan I have ever had. Should I ever need to host another event I will definitely look to host it there. The package they offered us was better than any other place we looked at to have our event. The decor is festive. Thank you to the staff for making today such a success! read more

Just went to Margaritas Cafe for the first time. Was a recommendation from a friend.. So glad we tried it. We ordered for takeout although they do have some outdoor tables on their patio close to the parking lot. The Nachos were great top notch. We also had some entrees which I really enjoyed. Margaritas Cafe can only be described as super Festive! It's like having Cinco De Mayo every day with their upbeat atmosphere and Mariachi band! The place is rather small, so the seating is tight or cozy depending on your personality. We always like to start with Sangria! It was definitely on the strong side! We ordered Sol Ranchero appetizer which was tasty but slightly disappointing. It was (6) nacho chips topped with refried beans and melted cheese with guacamole & sour cream on the side. I'm more accustomed to the generous portion from my local favorite just down the street. The Combination meal was good but typical of all Mexican restaurants. My El Rey burrito was deliciously filled with chicken & chorizo. The addition of mushrooms took away from the dish. The texture of the mushrooms was offsetting. I would definitely request leaving it out next time. They have an amazing house made hot sauce that I would highly recommend. Super tasty but not too hot. The good is that house margaritas during happy hour are $4. The bad is that no one or menu actually tells you what the happy hour is. My friend wound up paying three times more than another person in our party because her drink wasn't in the happy hour special but she had no idea. Happy hour needs to be displayed better. I will start by saying I LOVE MARGARITAS CAFE and go to their different locations very often. I've given this location multiple chances but it just doesn't live up to the experience at the other restaurants. The drinks tasted very bad ( almost like dirty ice or water). We asked for them to be remade and no improvement. We couldn't take more than a sip after paying $15+ per drink. In addition, it was too loud and crowded to comfortable have dinner. The bartenders and waitresses got your orders and disappeared, never checked on you to see how you're doing etc. This is night and day compared to the other locations where the food, drinks, and service are always top notch. We let him know we may have more people coming and all he could say was " i will ask my manager". We have been coming here for years. We love everything on the menu and always have great service and food. It's a fun place where everyone celebrates your birthday. Last night we went for dinner and ordered our food. We noticed everyone around us got there food and not us. Our server never came over to us after taking our order. We asked for the manager and he went to the kitchen to check on our food. He apologized and said he would go check on it. He brought out our food but it was about an hour from when we ordered it. When we got our bill I was expecting him to do something for us and nothing! So we paid the bill left a tip and we left. I wasn't happy so I asked to speak to him and told him we come a lot and were surprised the way we were treated. He said he was sorry and gave us back the money for our pitcher of sangria. Used to be a great place to go for Happy Hour or dinner. Service has gone way down. I've never seen a bar tender keep walking away from the bar. (Leaving the bar completely empty) He never checked on us to see if we needed a refill or wanted to order apps etc. Then he said "I have to close your tab bc I'm going on a break"!? Another guy came behind the bar, but again kept leaving and we had to call him over, IT WAS NOT CROWDED ; so no excuse there! The space has not changed except for a coat of fresh paint, a few funky paintings and some finishing touches here and there. We ate lunch at the cafe last Sunday and the service and margaritas were great! However, I ordered the Paella En Casuela which was a hot mess. It was unbelievably salty. The clams and mussels were tiny or broken. I found 2 shrimp, a few scallops and an overcooked lobster on top of a bed of unflavored rice. Except for salt. That's all I tasted. Salt. I'll come back for a cocktail and chips but I couldn't imagine eating here again. 3 stars for service. The food? !No bueno! read more

I decided to order delivery directly through Margarita's website. After almost 2 hours, my order status claimed that my food had been delivered, when in reality it was never picked up at the restaurant. Speaking to the manager, I was told that it was DoorDash's fault and I should call them directly. The conversation was full of excuses, and not once did they apologize, compensate me for the mix-up, or consider running someone from the restaurant to deliver the food. I drove myself to the restaurant and was met with more excuses, no apologies. The food was cold and soggy, clearly because it was sitting in the bag for over an hour. My taco salad was basically mush and not filling at all. My wife's ropa vieja was also cold, and the flavor was decent, at best. I'm likely never going back after this terrible experience. read more

This is an update , directed at management , on my review of May 25 ( six months ago ) with one major suggestion for improvement ; my visit on Veteran's Day was my seventh , the entre' ( barbecued ribs and shrimp ) , my sixth , so I am rather familiar with Wantagh's Margarita's . Although Emily , my favorite waitress of any restaurant I frequent , is now back in college , service here is still excellent , the food delicious , and the music still gentle . So what's the problem ? Being a popular , busy , crowded place , employees often drop utensils or other items on the floor ( my very friendly , gentlemanly waiter did it twice while servicing the large , noisy group across from me ) and then pick up the items by hand . As the lavatories are necessarily rabbit holes in such a small establishment , I doubt if hands are washed frequently . May I suggest back saving "grabbers" , which EVERY Ace , Home depot and Lowe's sell ? There are in fact two Ace Hardwares within two miles of Margarita's , on Hempstead Turnpike and Hicksville Rd . . Hang the grabber on a convenient hook ( they are slender and take up little space ) , and leave a small waste receptacle handy to drop items in ...... and continue serving your loyal patrons with clean hands ! Sans epidemic , this is still basic cleanliness and makes good sense ( back saving for your lovely waitresses as well ! ) ........ Having observed my very polite waiter twice pick up utensils off the floor , I declined his offer of coffee and desert , and I love your strong coffee and rich flan . By the way , the time it would take to purchase one of these would probably be far less than the time I took making this gentle suggestion ; The time was taken because I truly like your establishment , and have no desire to limit my monthly visits ! We've been here a few times now, and the food is always very good. What prompted me to write this review was the excellent service we received with our one-year-old. They did not have a kids menu, but the server asked the chef to prepare a special chicken and avocado dish for the baby. The portion was the perfect size, and my little guy loved it. I really appreciate the server and chef going out of their way. The baby also loved the mariachi band. The atmosphere is a fun one at the cafe. My husband had the steak special and I had the steak tacos. Both were flavorful and tasty. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. For 5 stars, the food would have to be out of this world. Came here last night with a group of 10 they said the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour but we were seated within a half hour and when we got seated our group got bigger and they accommodated us, 5 stars just for being so accommodating! Now to the food and drinks, my first drink was awesome second sucked but they made up for it when I asked them to fixed it! Started off with guac and nachos your basic starters they were decent not the best! Moving on to the entrees, first of all if no one has mentioned this the entrees are HUGE we hardly touched our meals because we were so full after a few bites!
