I wanted to like this place so much but unfortunately it was not very promising. We went on a Sunday late lunch and it was mostly run by a skeleton crew. There was only one lady seating and serving and taking orders and making drinks so therefore it was quite a slow service. We used to be big fans, then they started to decline. I believe they went thru an ownership change during that decline and we found ourselves removing Margaritas from our regular rotation. We decide to give them another try tonight and so glad we did. While it was late for dinner and the place was almost empty, service was spot on. Chips and salsa were solid as was the cheese dip we ordered. I opted for the chimichanga poblana and it came out hot, fresh, and perfect. My wife's steak burrito was huge which always ends up as lunch the next day. It looks like Margaritas is BACK! I believe they have gone thru another ownership change, but 100% sure. This was a spur of the moment stop after my daughters swim meet and it was 10/10. We were acknowledge quickly and seated. The server was dong an outstanding job handling the entire dinning room and bar on his own. He left no one wanting anything. Our food was outstanding and came out piping hot. We came here on a Sunday at about 130. We were sat promptly and brought chips and salsa I ordered the tacos margarita and my husband ordered tacos mariachi. It was very hot inside of the restaurant. I do not think the AC was working and the waitress even mentioned about how hot it was It took a half hour to get our food. Nobody came back to offer us more chips or salsa during thewait The plates, when they did come out, we're so hot you couldn't touch them. The rolled tacos were so greasy and oily you could not eat the tortilla unless you use the knife and fork because it certainly was not able to be picked up without falling apart. My friend ordered Poblanas Enchilada- good- I ordered 2 shrimp flour taco's a la carte as it wasn't on the menu- I received the tacos with nothing but 4 shrimp with sides of beans and rice, that according to menu was included with entrees. As I ordered a la carte I was charged $3.99 for beans and $3.99 for rice, $11.99 for taco's. $20 for what should have been $12.99 with beans/rice included. I have to say tonight was extremely disappointing. The server we had not only got the order incorrect but the service was beyond poor. She did not offer any drink refills, she did not offer any chips refills and it took her over half the meal before she finally brought a small container of sour cream that they charged me two dollars for. To top it off this evening , they decided to bleach the table next to us while we were eating - nothing worse than inhaling those horrid Chemicals that are extremely overpowering when are you eating. The stench from the chemicals was so strong my eyes started burning. It was in very poor taste to use such strong chemicals. Well people are trying to eat. I went with a group of 13 for dinner on taco Tuesday. It was a bit chaotic, and I'm hoping it was just an "off" night for them. Upon entering, I realized their A/C was not working properly. They had two industrial fans plus one portable air conditioning unit. The A/C unit was not vented properly and dumping all the hot exhaust air back into the restaurant. Overall, the restaurant was not very busy, but our waiter was hopping with our table. The food was good, and came out pretty quickly. And I think there was some confusion on the amount of sour cream that was requested, because he kept bringing out was comical (small bowls for each request). There was also a lot of confusion and frustration in the final bill. Everybody was separate, which wasn't too bad, but then he didn't match up all the sides of sour cream and was trying to get people to pay for it after they already paid and were walking out of the door. It was a little offputting in honestly he probably should've just wrote it off. read more

I really hate to rate low, however there was more bad aspects to my visit than good. We visited on Thursday night (5-6) and it had a few tables busy. Ordered the lunch fajitas with chicken. They were ok, but not very warm. Waited an extra 5 minutes for the tortillas which also weren't very warm. When we got our bill, we noticed in small print at the bottom of the bill there would be a 3.99% fee if paying by credit card. I understand prices are going up and these are tough times. But, charging a fee if paying by card should be mentioned or posted very clearly so it's not a surprise. My friend ordered the fajita nachos and said they were very good. Taco Tuesday with friends was a blast at Margaritas. My friend invited me to meet up with her. This was my first time eating here so I wasn't sure what to expect. We started with fresh salsa and chips. The salsa was a little on the spicy side so I was hooked! I ordered two tacos and a frozen mango margarita. With a name like margaritas how could you not order one? The frozen margarita was delicious and smooth! My fish taco was one of the best I have ever tasted. The fish was moist and delicious which had to do with the perfect seasoning added by the chef. There was also a sauce on top that took the taco to the next level. I would absolutely recommend trying the fish taco! I'm not sure the name of the second taco I ordered but it had some type of beef. I was not as impressed with this taco as the meat was a little chewy. Flavors were good but the meat was a little overcooked. Our server was friendly and efficient. The restaurant had a nice size bar with lots of seating. Also lots of booths for family style seating. I would absolutely try Margaritas again but next time I will stick with the fish tacos. I was told to stop at this restaurant from someone when I was ubering in Jacksonville one day. so I decided to go one night. The first too crazy busy my server was very polite knowledgeable and helpful definitely checked on me enough times because sometimes that's a problem with restaurants. The ambience of the place was very laid-back, fun place with very colorful decorations and art. The art on the walls were one of my favorite things very beautiful pieces. Looks like they have karaoke there also. And last but not least the food. It was very good. I would consider pretty authentic Mexican food I always ask for a house hot sauce that is very spicy when I go to Mexican restaurants due to me being a spicy enthusiast. Well this restaurant delivered with their house habanero which you can see in the picture besides the salsa. It was very nice and spicy for me I'm always pleased when a restaurant has a house hot sauce that they make! Will definitely frequent this restaurant. read more

One star is too much for our experience. There were eight of us for lunch on Sunday. When we arrived there were only two other people in the restaurant who were customers. The server took our drink orders promptly and then it was all downhill. I have no idea what was going on. After about 30 minutes two orders came out. They were steak fajitas and a quesadilla rellena that was ordered vegetarian (cheese, guacamole and sour cream per the menu) but it was meat and the server disappeared. Two other parties had come in, but the server had taken our orders prior to the arrival of the others, so the kitchen should have been cooking our food. We were in a corner and the server just ignored us. The couple that received their order that one was wrong, left and another couple left after an hour of no food. Finally the server brought out two more orders that were supposed to be chicken chile rellenos, but the server brought ground beef. The server didn't even apologize, but made some excuse about the kitchen. So, after an hour and 10 minute 4 orders of 8 were delivered and 3 were incorrect. Finally, a middle aged woman (maybe a manager) came over and said the cook hadn't come in. Well someone was cooking and the server wasn't even offering to refill drinks. Finally order #5 of 8, the fajita vallarta came out and it was fine. So out of 8 orders 3 never came out, 3 were incorrect and 2 were correct. The ambiance is like any typical Mexican restaurant with paintings on the wall and Mexican decor. So, after over 2 hours and only 2 of 8 orders correct -- 3 never came out the server brought a bill for the entire order. If you can't accommodate more parties, wait on the ones you have already seated and turn others away. Why should anyone have to argue to have food removed from a bill when it was never served? The only thing good about this no food lunch is there's a Jeremiah's Italian Ice next door & their service is always good. read more

Went for a margarita and appetizer on a night ride. The house margaritas were absolutely delicious but the appetizer, Queso Flameado, was a coffee cup sized portion of hardened cheese and chorizo. It was so hard that it was nearly impossible to separate with a spoon. The menu does describe it as such but I was most definitely expecting queso that could be eaten with a dipped chip. I found my go-to Mexican restaurant in Jax! Hubby and I along with a friend of ours decided to give them a try last weekend. We did not regret that decision one bit! We noticed the margarita pitcher deal as soon as we walked in. We couldn't believe a pitcher of margaritas was only $15.99 on a Saturday night. So of course, we ordered one on the rocks. These margs were excellent! Good tequila flavor and not overly sweet. Three of us shared the pitcher and didn't feel shorted. I highly recommend ordering one! Even the regular price is only $18.99 which is still amazing. The complimentary chips and salsa were on point! The chips came out hot, fresh and were just the right thickness and crunch. The salsa was blended very well and had a great little kick. I especially liked how well the salsa held on to the chip. For my entree, I ordered the 3 corn tortilla tacos which came with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. There were several meat options. I ended up going with chorizo, carnitas and al pastor. These tacos were delicious! Fresh homemade corn tortillas loaded with tasty Mexican meats and simple, traditional toppings - onions and cilantro. Hubby ordered the 3 beef enchiladas which also came with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. He cleaned his plate and throughly enjoyed this dish. Our friend also ordered the 3 beef enchiladas and loved them. We all wanted to try a dessert item but were way too full. The dinner portions are very filling! If I could give zero stars I would. I've never walked out of a restaurant before this...We used to love this place, and went ALL the time. I guess it's recently changed owners. We sat at our table for 30 min before someone even came over to get out drink order. Took about another 10 min for our waters to arrive. Even at a late hour, staff were welcoming and our waiter was really kind. Vegetable soup came with lots of cheese and tortilla strips on top, had flavorful rice and delicious side salad with more shredded white cheese. Ate here this past Saturday at Noon. Not too busy and I will say that the food ended up being very good. We have been going to this restaurant for eight years now, but there just seems to be a little bit of a change in terms of the staff attitude. Not only did we wait a good 20 minutes for them to notice that we had finished eating, in which they were just chatting to each other sitting in a booth. However, the music was absolutely horrible in which they were playing music that was clearly talking about drive-by shootings, even including sound effects of cars screeching to a stop and then firing guns. We've never had this experience at the restaurant before so maybe it's a one off, but hopefully this catches the attention of the manager as it was not enjoyable. read more

Finally tried this place tonight and we wish we came here sooner. Simply fantastic food! I ordered the NY strip with cheese and Mexican sausage on top, and it was one of the best pieces of steak I've ever had. It's been a while I had Mexican food. Cinco de Mayo 22' around 8 pm. I was expecting a large crowd and long wait for takeout. Large crowd yes, long wait no. Plus they offered me a free tequila shot at the bar. That was great. The food was very good and plenty. We had a steak fajita and a combo platter with a burrito a taco and a stuffed Mexican pepper. Food came well packed and chips and spicy salsa were included on a separate bag and salsa container. For $29 our family of 3 had enough to eat. Their Ceviche was just ok....needed more lime garlic, cilantro. One Night Taco Stand has a little better tasting Ceviche. I had the arroz texano with steak, chicken and shrimp. Came in to try this place due to comments I heard at another Mexican restaurant, some guys where saying the food was better at Margaritas, and even mentioned the address. I decided to come in for lunch. They had 2 for 1 beers which is awesome lol. I ordered 3 different tacos so I could get a taste of the different meats. The chorizo was a bit salty but got better with a squeeze of lime. The carne asada and the al pastor where very good. They come with a single tortilla which I love cause I don't like getting full with tortillas instead of the actual meat. Only issue was with the slow service I got the chips and salsa with my beer and then they took around 15 minutes to check on me again.
