Stopped in to meet a friend and was pleasantly surprised to find a very cool, eclectic open space playing good music and emitting chill vibes. There is ample seating in a variety of areas and a good selection of food and drinks to choose from. While I think they are on the pricey side, I appreciate the quality and time put into making the drinks tasty and the food pretty delicious. We stopped in here on Halloween for breakfast - the atmosphere felt like a modern diner with a twist - with a cute store in the space featuring different local artists (think everything from pottery to dog collars). It felt even more warm and homey to contrast with the cold, cloudy/misty day. You order at the counter and are given a number to place at your table, and you pick your own seat. The two ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a pumpkin spice latte, chai latte, waffle, and luna's burrito. Our drinks came out fairly quickly, and our food followed shortly thereafter. Both lattes were very tasty and fairly hot. The burrito came out first - it was very warm, and the wrap had a little crisp-ness on the outside. The inside was packed with scrambled eggs, bacon, jalapeño, potato and black beans. The salsa that came with it was really flavorful and bright. The waffle came out next and had whipped cream and strawberries with syrup on the side. It was also delicious. What makes me smile MORE than a good cup of Java? A good cup of Java SERVED with a smile. The coffee at Margie's never disappoints but the staff and the laid back vibe is what puts it over the top. Very open and spacious With cool jazz or coffee house music playing the "joint" brings back ideals of a 50s or 60s style, hop hang out. All of that without being over the top cornball looking. Nice little local craft and handmade items area to pick up something for a friend or family member. Food selection is limited but pretty good from the items I have had. Smoothies, quiche, oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches all very tasty and priced right. Located across from UNC and taking the corner spot, expect small gatherings scattered about of college kids studying and just hanging but it never seems to be over run and the students are very respectful of the patrons as well as the establishment. I visited Margie's Java Joint recently because it gets an acknowledgment in Connie Willis' adorably clever and fun book Bellwether. We went somewhat out of our way just because of that and had a delightful experience. Great vibes and ambiance. Appreciated the vegan options! And my matcha latte and treats were delicious. The indoor space is surprisingly big. We were early and the first customers. The menu online is not updated, they no longer have smoothie bowls. The staff were all nice and attentive. We got two gluten-free baked goods, a breakfast cookie and London Fog scone with a latte. I think scones need gluten, the London Fog flavor was not very strong, and up the texture was a bit clumpy. The latte was good, while not the most robust flavor. We also had a breakfast croissant sandwich and a green smoothie. The sandwich came with a nice green salad, and the croissant was very good. Gosh the numerous times I've been here to study and eat...This place is great if you're looking to catch up with friends, meet with a study group, study independently, or not study and do things for you (i.e read, contemplate, etc). Here are my reasons why: 1. Large open area. If the music is being played too loudly near the front, I can always move to the back where there are beautiful bay windows overlooking UNCO campus and the street cross section. I appreciate this because my eyes need to see green space in order to lock back onto my laptop screen. 2. Fresh/Good Quality food. I've had several items from the menu now, and looking forward to trying them all! I haven't made a bad decision yet so stay tuned for more pictures of menu items :) 3. Refillable coffee! And the coffee is amazing! I seriously prize the coffee "for here" rather than "to go" because it adds to the home-like feeling and makes me get into the study/goal-oriented mood. Why only 4/5 stars? If I had to complain, it would be that Saturdays are a toss up; they may have loud music events so the atmosphere becomes more social than study and highly distracting. However, I understand. These events build community and I kick with joy when I see little kids playing with their grandparents over avocado toast and ice cream. Okay, and if I were to add one more thing, it would be the price of the food items! They are pricey but they are delicious! read more

I had lunch here a while ago back in October 2021. I thought my lunch was terrible. I ordered this chickpea and avocado sandwich, and it half of it was raw celery. The menu didn't mention that ingredient at all. I also got a subpar slice of pumpkin bread. It was old and stale. It was a waste of my $10 at the time. I could have had a better lunch at Starbucks or even Dunkin' Donuts (with its microwave breakfast). This is the worst meal I've had since 2014, where I was eating Sodexo school cafeteria food. read more

Came to Margie's Java Joint to check out alternative coffee shops while in the Greeley area. When I came in the coffee shop it was nice to see a high ceiling and open floors with a variety of seating, such as tables with chairs, bar seats, and booths. I think this is a place that you'd want to come by with a friend or two. The inside seems to be dated, but part of the hip style of the restaurant. There is a section of the store where you can buy gifts, a few seating sections, and a section for the coffee bar and register which are near the center of the coffee shop. They have snacks in the glass near the register labeled gluten free or vegan. I wasn't able to buy any snacks because I am allergic to both gluten and lactose together, and their products aren't labeled so you can tell if they are gluten free and vegan at the same time, and the staff has no idea about the ingredients in the products. I ordered a small latte to drink at my table. Something to note here is that even if you get a coffee only, they give you a number to take to a table where they can bring you the coffee after they make it. If you get a coffee, you cannot request sugar or sweetener in it, because they expect you to put it in your coffee yourself, after you are served. My small sized coffee was served in a clear glass that you would typically get water in while at a diner. I was surprised it wasn't a mug or a typical paper coffee cup. The menu has smoothies, salads, sandwiches, toast, croissants, coffee, and more. They label some things that are gluten or vegan, but not all of things on the menu. The prices here are slightly cheaper than Starbucks. I do think this place has potential, but for some reason I feel like there is a lack of passion in serving customers and operating the restaurant. I felt like I was a bother to the staff here and that it was tough to figure what I wanted to eat. Some issues I found: The staff, even though they were polite to me and were willing to help me, didn't seem totally inviting and accommodating. I kind of felt alienated by my allergies here. Kind of like my allergies annoyed them and got in the way, but with a smile. The place didn't have any music on, even though it would be nice to hear some piano or jazz music that would probably go good with the atmosphere here. I was a little disappointed that there was no way to ask a manager about the ingredients of the food the entire time I was there, so I might be able to get something to eat. I was nervous to try the other things on the menu because there would be no way to find out about the ingredients in those items as well. They label some things gluten, and other things vegan, but they still did not know if they are both gluten and vegan at the same time, as I mentioned earlier. I also think that they should have some more common food items on the menu, I don't see a majority of people looking to eat a salmon bagel, avocado toast, or a burrito all the time, for example. I'd think in addition to those menu items it would be great to see something like a ham, egg, and cheese on a bagel or potato wedges, rather than something so special to ones taste. The "Lexi" sandwich on the menu seemed pleasing because it isn't as exotic, and most people would probably be open to having it. It would be great for them to have more gluten/lactose free options, that are easy to do, such as using gluten/lactose free bread, bagels, and waffle mix. It would be great to see them use "Cabot" brand "lactose free cheese" or lactose free milk in their items and ingredients, which would please a majority of people, even those who don't have food allergies. People who aren't gluten/lactose free still like to eat gluten/lactose free items too and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. This place would obviously be more desirable with more variety like this on the menu. I think that it would attract more customers if options like this were on the menu. I was a bit irritated that they do not put sugar or artificial sweetener in your coffee when they make it, because it kind of ruins the latte if you have to dump your sweetener on the foam after, and mix it up. The sweetener should be put in at the mixing station by the barista and be part of your order, like other coffee shops usually do. Other than that, it's not a bad place. I'd come here with friends to mix it up with the coffee shops in town. But I'd definitely come back more often if these changes were made. See my attached pictures. read more

Really friendly little coffee shop near downtown greeley. All the food and snacks looked tasty but I was just stopping by to throw down some caffeine before getting started on a productive sunday. Coffee is delicious, I got mine iced and it was served in a proper glass with a STRAW no less, you love to see it! The snacks all looked delicious, although I did not get chance to try any of them. Maybe next time! Vibes are very ... 50s? Mid century modern decor.. Music was kind of swanky/jazzy. Really enjoyed the relaxed vibe and the light hum of people existing in the background. We really take little stuff like this for granted sometimes.. and the covid pandemic really reminded me that sometimes we have to take a look around and absorb those moments more mindfully. If I HAD TO find something to complain about - the coffee took a few minutes longer than I'm used to to be served, but I think that's more of a sign of how freshly they make things than anything else, so I do not want to make that seem like a huge deal. read more

We really liked this place, although unfortunately it was a place we did not get to until the last day, so we never had a chance to go back. Everything they serve is hand crafted, and so you are not going to get any of the Starbucks mixes. The sizes are small if you are used to Starbucks, but everything tasted authentic and was well created. We got there right as a lot of other people did, and the service ended up being slow, but, as I said, that is because they make everything by hand. We thought the prices were reasonable overall, and we sampled the coffee, iced tea, smoothies, food, and baked goods. I think of all of what we ate, the waffles were the most impressive overall, and I would recommend anyone to get that regardless of the time of day. read more

This is my favorite coffee and snack shop in Greeley. I've been coming here for years. It's my place to get my coffee, relax and check e-mails and my news feed. The staff is awesome. They are close and very caring for each other, which results in cohesive and well orchestrated service to the customers. The manager whose name is Asia keeps this place running so efficiently. There is an old world vibe and everyone makes me feel welcome and at home. I love the GOAT salad. This is probably one the best salads I've had any where. Last but not least is the chocolate chip banana bread. YUM!! I recommend everyone in the Greeley community try this place at least once, I am sure you will become a regular. Had a sandwich called "The Lexi" Toasted bagel with turkey, romaine lettuce, tomato, pesto, cream cheese and apricot Jam Super delicious Also ordered a Cortado with an extra shot of espresso. When you have so much Starbuck's, it's difficult to not look at even the local coffee shops under this lens. But for this place, it's honestly better. Breakfast options are divine (I highly recommend the quiches) and the lattes are wonderful. If you have time to spare get yours for "here". They bring it out in a coffee mug rather than the traditional to-go coffee containers and it adds another home-y dimension and element to it that really makes this place feel hospitable. It's also a *big* place, so there's plenty of seating options and plenty of space to spread out, even if it does get a tad busy. It's also a great place to write, hang out with friends or just relax in general after a busy day/week. Repeat visits on my end are pretty much guaranteed and I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I love Margie's! I frequent it almost weekly. They have an amazing selection of drinks, I get a lavender iced chai latte. They also have alternative milks and lots of iced teas as well. When it comes to food they have it all, from little snacks to full meals. Even gluten free and vegan options! The entire interior is adorable. There are a good number of seating options and it's a great place to study! There is also a little shop featuring local artists. This is such a cute, cool little cafe and mini grocery store. We popped in yesterday with a craving for a snack and were not disappointed. We had some Long View ice cream and it was SO GOOD! It's also apparently made in their basement, which means it's SUPER fresh! Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their products and foods. Great little Deli/ grocery and coffee shop. It's right across from campus, puts out a great cup of coffee and has some quick breakfast and lunch options. Free wifi and nice seating helps push it up amount other options in the area, jazz on the speakers instead of top 40 is also a welcome surprise.
