Margot is not just a pretty face. She's the package deal. She's bring home to mom and dad. Truly though Margot is an experience to be had. The food and the ambience both offer a quality evening. I knew it would be the perfect spot to take my visiting mom. In this case both mom and daughter were satisfied. The food was high quality and super unique. The Platform is one of my favorite areas for coffee or lunch but visiting at night and heading to Margot's rooftop location was different in the best way. The dishes we ordered were the potatoes bravas, the roasted broccoli and mushroom risotto. The potatoes were our least favorite because they were a bit too large and not crispy enough. However the sauce was so tasty and paired nicely with the potatoes. We also may be harsh critics since our last time eating that dish was in Spain. The roasted broccoli came with yogurt and feta cheese. It was a unique combination that was a total favorite and crowd pleaser (my mom wasn't initially as excited but ended up loving it). The mushroom risotto was a generous portion and perfect to be shared between two. It was rich, creamy and delicious. The mushrooms offered that classic umami flavor that adds another level to any dish. Presentation was also perfect and very much appreciated. Good food should look as great as it tastes. My friend suggested trying Margot for their healthy lunch options and drinks menu. l Environment l We came on a Saturday after 2:30 PM so we got their afternoon menu, which was limited. It's located upstairs on the rooftop at the Platform in Culver City. The most trendy, chic, and classy restaurant. The interior was so cute and very aesthetically pleasing with high ceilings and lots of plants and wood accents. I love the ambiance because it gives off an earthy and hipster vibe. There's also a bar located inside of Margot. l Food & Drinks l Empanadas ($16) - Smoked fish, 'nduja, giardiniera. It comes with a side of onions and radish. For an appetizer, this was overpriced for just three little empanadas. It tasted good but portions were small. Chickpea Panelle Sandwich ($16) - Avocado, kale slaw, house focaccia. I think this was vegan? The sandwich was light and healthy, but it tasted mediocre. It wasn't as flavorful and there was not much to the sandwich besides dough and veggies. Strawberry Spritz ($14) - Lillet rose, strawberry tonic, cava. My friend wanted something sweet and pretty so this was the prefect drink. I wanted to get a drink called Blackbird ($15) which I saw on Yelp, but the server told me that they don't make that drink anymore but they can recreate one that's very similar. The drink was so cute and was a little strong but overall, we liked what we ordered. l Customer Service l Our server was nice and answered a lot of questions we had about the drinks. He gave us recommendations on what to order for drinks. l Conclusion l Overall, I enjoyed the environment of Margot and the location it's at. However, because it is LA, prices are expensive. I have mixed feelings about Margot. I came here for my birthday dinner and found the experience alright. The restaurant is pretty loud, so don't expect to have a nice conversation with your dinner mates if you come here. We came in on a Wednesday night and it was very busy. The service here was fine. The staff were efficient but I wouldn't say they were particularly friendly. No one introduced themselves, and I felt like we were just part of their assembly line, as they were likely serving a bunch of other tables. As for the food, the menu is fairly limited. We ordered the tagliarini pasta, capellini pasta, grilled blue prawns, charred broccoli, and the arancini. The tagliarini pasta barely had any crab in it. It also tasted just like Kraft Mac and Cheese but with a crabby taste. Being almost $30, I expected more from this dish. The prawns were also just alright, and were nothing to get excited about. The highlight of the meal was the arancini, charred broccoli, and capellini pasta. All were really good. We also ordered a flourless chocolate torte, which was quite nice. However, the hazelnuts did overpower the cake's taste a bit. Also, it looks like they have changed their valet service, because unlike other reviews on here, I was charged $5 for valet parking. I came here on February 4th, so they must have just changed it. This is pretty disappointing, as I was looking forward to free valet parking in LA. Overall, Margot is okay. This is my go-to for a nice lunch since work is right down the street. I've had the chance to sample most of the lunch items. Most of them are delicious. Service is always great and the just the overall ambiance is very hip. The outdoor patio is also lovely with great views of all the new construction in Culver City. The crudo bar: - The hamachi is very good. Light and refreshing. Fish is nice and tender. - Kampachi was a little too salty for my group. Also, the fish wasn't as tender as the hamachi. Veggies: - The charred broccoli is soooo good! I get this every time and it's a generous size which can be shared by about 3 to maybe even 4 people. - Potatoes bravas are also delicious. Like the broccoli, it's a filling portion but they taste just right with the crispy outside and soft inside. Sandwiches: - For the albacore tuna, I was expecting more of a filet but it was close to a tuna salad type of protein. It was still pretty good and light for lunch. - The roasted chicken was bomb. I loved the romesco and cheese. Can't go wrong with salsa verde either! Entrees: - My safe order is the salmon. It's so moist on the inside and the skin is perfectly crispy. The potatoes it comes with are also as good as the potatoes bravas appetizer but I find it too heavy so I've been substituting it with salad, which I think pairs better. - Lamb meatballs are on point! They have such a nice flavor and the texture of them is unique. They are softer and more delicate than your usual beef meatball. The polenta they come on top of is also great! Few items on my radar I'll be ordering the next times I'm there are the yellowfin tuna crudo, smoked fish rilettes, porchetta sandwich (when I have a cheat day with my cholesterol lol), and the fried chicken. One suggestion I have to the restaurant is please serve your water with ice! It's always room temperature. "The" place to go in Culver City, expect the rooftop to be totally packed. Both times I've gone I've managed to get seats (with a little bit of hovering/stalking) but it's not the easiest thing to do, even on a random weeknight. Very pretty though - you almost don't feel like you're in Culver City when you're here. Lots of great cocktails and wine, but I did prefer a standard old fashioned to any of the fancier drinks on their menu. I started with the blackbird (wild turkey bourbon, blackberry, meyer lemon, martini rubino) and found it to be a bit on the sweet side. I've never had a full meal here, but we ordered a couple of small plates - potatoes bravos and pan con tomate, which were both good but nothing special. While it's definitely not bad it's most certainly not worth the price tag. I'm definitely not someone who looks to save money when eating out. I'm ok with a higher price tag as long as the food and service merit it. I've also had brunch there. My last visit 2 weeks ago was by far the worst. They have a limited menu, which is fine, but seems like everything we ordered has sat around for a while before serving. Again, nothing special about the food. The best dish was the chicken and waffles and although it was good, nothing special. We spent about $80 a person which included one drink or coffee for each of us. The service on that particular day was terrible. Our server was non attentive, I certainly don't expect someone to be at my beckon call but at least be attentive when taking an order. Our food was brought out with no rhyme or reason. There were 8 of us and a few of us ordered the same thing but our meals were brought out at different times. This review is based solely on their lack of transparency on pricing. At the end of the meal an additional 18% is automatically added to the bill and explicitly says that it is not a tip. The money goes to help pay the staff. I had a $21 cocktail which was pricey to begin with and then there is a hidden 18% up charge. Presumably a portion of the stated menu price goes to pay staff. If it is not enough to cover their wages then the listed price should be increased or at a minimum the menu should note this additional charge. As you are paying, the waiter informs you of the charge and explains that this fee is included. It was clearly awkward for the waiter. It was uncomfortable for me as a customer and it's the last and worst impression as you leave the restaurant. I will not be going back and whomever established this policy should seriously reconsider. This is the service industry and there are much better ways of serving your customers while fairly compensating your staff. read more

My First experience at Margot was amazing went on a romantic date with my boyfriend. The experience there was so amazing. Shane was our server & had the best recommendation for a drink in which I chose to get something sweet rather than something heavy. We went for the strawberry spritz which tasted sweet and had a euphoric feeling to it. Let me start off by saying we had a reservation for 8pm on 11.16.21 for my best friend's birthday. We arrive, and the girl checking in at the "door" which was the staircase because they failed to let us know the elevator was not working. We were asked to wait standing until our table was ready which was confusing since we had a reservation leading us to believe the table should have already been RESERVED for my friend and me. 15 minutes had passed and the door girl still has no clue why we were being asked to wait. Turns out, The manager on duty (chubby dude with a suit way too small for him), failed to inform and communicate to her why there was a delay upstairs in the restaurant. Instead he decided to come down to speak to us in a very aggressive tone and did not even ONCE apologize to the 12+ other people (different parties) waiting for their tables with us. He instead decided to let us know how the Fire Marshall had come by earlier that evening to give a warning because the restaurant was seating too many people. Once again, not sure how this is our (the customer's) problem. What was most frustrating was how the said manager did not offer any complimentary drinks or let alone an APOLOGY. He was rude AF and this is coming from someone who has worked in the service and retail industry for years. We were finally sat down in our table around 8:20p. Our appetizers and small plates came pretty quickly however the main plates and second round of drinks took forever. Overall the food was tasty but very poor management. The interior is so pretty, and there's a small waiting area. To get to the restaurant, you have to take an elevator up. There's also a bar, and outdoor seating with beautiful views. This is really a beautiful restaurant. With bohemian and rustic decor, totally screams LA and same with the crowd. I took my fiance here for his birthday dinner on a Saturday night around 8 pm. We had reservations and were seated right away. It was crowded and quite loud so don't come here if you're looking to have a quiet dinner. Oh and valet is also complimentary which is a plus. As for the food, everything was very tasty, full of interesting flavors, and fresh...almost as if they picked the ingredients right in their backyard garden. However, plates are quite on the small side. We ordered a small plate, salad dish, and 2 entrees. We were satisfied but probably could've had more. Drinks were tasty and also beautifully presented. After dinner, we enjoyed the outdoor patio which is a great area to hang out, have a cocktail, and enjoy the music. There is limited lounge seating here but we were lucky to not have to wait too long for some seats to open up.
