Settled on some hard salami and the sheer smell that emanates from the market. You've heard of or better yet even witnessed the smell that emanates from Pirates of the Caribbean? Well, Sorrento's market has its own unforgettable smell, and it usually winds up in a net gain of about 5 to 10 lb for your waistline. So other than some hard salami, I was sure to get the you know what out of here quickly! But do come by folks! Come from near and come from afar. My family just came from New Orleans (which happens to be the 1st city-yeah even before New York...that saw Sicilians specifically bring their great cuisine to this land) and the first thing they wanted was some hard salami from Sorrento's 2,000 miles away! Lol The spirit of Sorrento's market lives on through current owner Albert Vera Jr, who continues to do his father, mother, and the city of Culver City proud. The host was warm, our waitress was attentive, and she walked us through the specials without it feeling like a performance. The Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, and crab mafalda were all solid. The pasta is handmade and you can taste it and I loved that the pasta was al dente. We sat inside and the interior is cozy and cute. I'll definitely be back. Just what I needed for my foggy brain. Fun cute, quaint, charming and on a corner of a busy street. I parked by the houses not sure if there's any other place to park (tight squeeze.) He went on his meal break and a new waitress clocked in. That's when it went downhill. There was one other table other than me in the patio and she didn't get up once to check on us for over 30 minutes, too busy on her phone with her headphones in (see photo). My glass was empty and I noticed she looked up at me but because I was reading she pretended not to notice. I eventually waved her down. Wish I could give this place a higher rating due to the first waiter, but the waitress really brought it down. The food smelled amazing so I'm still willing to give them another shot.

I think it's a bit crazy Ritrovo charges a service charge to dine there (give you MY business) and then the auto tip that comes up is 22% (which can be adjusted). Plus my dish was cut back (only 9). When I tipped out, my 9 agnolotti (no drink, app, dessert) totaled almost $35. I drove from the South Bay. Sorry, but there are SO many great Italian places that this will likely have been my last visit.

I have no notes but one ... maybe let your customers omit the green onion on top. They're not so good with my tummy. Every item was delicious. The beef & chicken both so good. The cabbage & slaw very tasty. You will see me or I will get this delivered again. What a treat. I appreciate this so much after a very long day. Comfort food is the best!
