I figured someone at my table would share a slice of pizza, so I opted for the Farmer's Market Little Gems salad which I highly recommend. The ingredients don't seem like anything out of the ordinary but put together it was excellent. Good iced tea as well. As for the pizzas, what was shared with me was fine, if a touch greasy. The crust had great flavor - that kind of reads like a backhanded compliment, but I don't mean it that way...it's just that it was the best part of the pizza. Had a really great brunch experience here for Mother's Day. I made a reservation through OpenTable, and the staff got back to me, wanting to make sure that we had a great experience, and asked about any children or high chairs we might need. it was really nice to have all of the logistics figured out before our arrival. We ended up sitting in a booth with a booster chair for our three year-old. The food was really good. I think they have completely figured out brunch in this place. They picked up nicely where The Bull and Butterfly left (in this same location). We were all feeling breakfast, and I'm not normally a pancake person but the lemon ricotta pancakes were calling my name and I'm so glad that I went with it. It really was a showstopper. It is definitely lemon forward so you have to enjoy that flavor profile, but it was cooked to perfection. The pancake was super light and fluffy and the ricotta gave it a silky smooth texture, it really tasted great. My wife got the eggs benny, and the eggs were runny and perfect. Superfine is located at a prime spot in the center of the Runway in Playa Vista. I've been there a few times and it's a convenient spot to grab a drink or HH before catching a movie at Cinemark or a nice dinner option. I live down the street and have seen a few restaurants come and go but this is a hidden gem and I hope it's here for the long haul. I love the medium size of the menu, makes it easier to order. We ordered the sourdough foccacia, salmon/avocado crudo, Caesar salad, homemade rigatoni with vodka sauce + chicken, the steak and olive oil chocolate cake for dessert and everything was delicious. Superfine is a new restaurant where no expense was spared in the decor. My friend and I were excited to try it out as we generally enjoy restaurants with similar styles of menu and check them out when we can. Our server was very professional and let us know that they require you to order everything at once and they course it out. The menu feels very fresh and bright, and I would call it Italian-inspired California cuisine. We enjoyed the Housemade Focaccia and Bigeye Tuna Crudo as appetizers. I wouldn't recommend ordering the focaccia for only 2 people as the portion is really large and filling. Additionally, the tuna crudo is served on the focaccia as well and is a much better dish. I think it was my favorite dish of the night. Next we had the Shaved Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad. While a bit basic, I appreciated the addition of the smoked provolone and it was a great lighter dish. They didn't course the dishes out in an ideal way, as the next dishes kept coming as we were still eating the ones we had. We ran out of room on the table so not only were we not finished with the previous course but everything was very squished on the table. We enjoyed the Casarecce pasta with braised lamb, lemon, egg, pecorino and mint and the pasta itself tasted very fresh. The Rigatoni was just slightly too al-dente and I wasn't a fan of the flavor at all. My friend found it to be ok but we have enjoyed other similar restaurants more. Superfine and the people here are amazing. The wine and appetizers are great, but what I really want to emphasize is the customer service of the team. I dropped my wedding ring at the restaurant and it rolled under the floorboards. The Superfine service team was on their hands and knees with me trying to locate it that night. And then the manager, Emilia, worked with their engineering team over the next few days to lift up the floorboards and search for the ring with me, at times outside of normal business hours. Several members of the restaurants' management team came out for this and we found the ring! I cannot speak more highly of the service of the team and of Emilia, who is a huge gem. It's all over their menu and a main item is out. So the kids got pasta with tomato sauce. It was bland and below average. We ordered a pizza and salad to split. I ordered a a simple Caesar salad with chicken. It came without the chicken, with old wilted, lettuce, and stale croutons. Superfine was super disappointing, but the venue is beautiful. The only dish that was memorable was the house made focaccia (9) that comes with a generic "spicy white bean dip" which is hilarious. It was absent of any spice. It also came with an anchovy butter which was much more savory and delicious. The focaccia itself has perfect textures and warmth and set up the bar high for the meal, but as the dishes came out, it was clear that the focaccia was the only one worth getting. I love a good tuna crudo (19), but they forgot to season this. A sprinkle of sea salt flakes would have taken this dish for sad to fab. Pretty shocking that something so common would have such a misstep. The Sicilian wedding soup (12) was comforting. The chicken chicken meatballs were delightful and probably my second favorite after the bread. Casarecce (27) pasta was very gamey. The pasta itself lacked the expected chew from places that charge this price. Didn't really enjoy this. We also got a seafood dish that was really terrible. The pasta sheets weren't cooked well and the flavors were off. But it smelled great. Finally, th salt and balsamic vinegar fries (10) were a joke. Fast food fries are better and like the "spicy" white bean dip there was no balsamic vinegar moment. I could have airfried fries and prepared them much better at home. There seams to be a theme - like the manicured neighborhood of Playa Vista, the dishes as Superfine lack seasoning (aside from the bread and soup which ironically are usually the forgotten elements.) My wife suggested we have brunch in Playa Vista at Superfine today and I agreed as I've been eager to go since I heard they were now making pizza on-site. I had to have the "hangover pizza" just for the name as I was quite hungry, but not hungover. I know nothing about this restaurant but I will because I plan on eating there because of my takeout experience. like many folks my inbox has been filled with takeout TG dinner options. this menu really caught my eye. problem was we were 7 total. sent a email to verify a few things and a nice woman called me back. she said there should be enough for 7, no problem. I have never been to the playa vista city they built, coming from century city its was a breeze to get there, no real traffic at 2:30p, and parking at the location was abundant. greeted at 3 sharp by a friendly woman and left 5 minutes later. everything was in a nice flat box, did not seem like a lot of food but it worked. we made corn muffins and had more than enough for not 7 but 8 people. I totally spaced on who was coming as they are not my family - 4 of the 8 are not small eaters, they are large individuals so I was concerned but everyone was stuffed. the bird was gorgeous, it looked pretty large and was in a cooking bag with disposable pan. detailed beautiful instructions. tissue paper, on top and in in the box so items would not shift. professional all the way. I have no clue who Chef Steve is of what Rossoblu is where the food came from but they clearly have their $hit together. I have a nice house. I never eat out. I cook. I make pizza. I live part time in France. I live for food and wine. my next rare meal out in LA will be to get pizza at this restaurant. I decided to go 100% off the instructions. got the bird to room temp - 1 hour - and preheated the oven for 350 using convection. the oven is from 2007 and I have never once used this setting. I stuck the pan with the bag in and checked it 90 minutes later and it was 165. pulled it out and let it rest for 30 minutes. easily one of the best turkeys I have had in ~68 years of eating turkey. juicy, moist, flavorful, just delicious. bag was loaded with juice if one wanted to put it to use. carved up easily. stuffed with a whole lemon, a huge wad of herbs and it looked like there was a rub or something on the outside as well. the sides were all outstanding. perfect seasoning and flavor. every single dish was incredible and clearly done with love and intention. I microwaved it all, potatoes, then stuffing, then a few more sides. Bottom line: I am never making another turkey and I will always get this package if it is offered in the future. cost was $335. read more
