This place was so cute! We had a great service experience, our gal checked on us multiple times, and from what I could see others around us did as well. The owner even came out and chatted with some people nearby for awhile. Honestly one of the best quiches I've ever had, was fully loaded and the crust was homemade, nice and flaky. I have been several times for breakfast and lunch and always have been served fabulous meals! I had them cater a dinner party this past Saturday for 10 and my guests raved about the food! The service was very slow for the restaurant not being to busy. It was a very small 4 item menu for the fourth and I was not crazy about any of the selections, they were all fried foods. Three strikes and you're out. STRIKE 1: Had the Chicken Caesar salad; it was $9.99 plus tip. At least 50% of my plate was filled with croutons -- NO EXAGGERATION! I asked for a salad, expecting a few croutons, not croutons with a little salad. Photo shows at least four dozen croutons. I had to ferret out the salad. STRIKE 2: On another occasion I had their veggie burger which was very spicy and gave me indigestion the rest of the day. Went here to eat with my mom today. We went around lunch time and we were able to sit inside. The waitress was nice and took our order promptly. Because of the 50% capacity rules there were only two other tables in the restaurant. The ambiance was bright and cheerful, and appeared to be clean. We ordered and within 15-20 minutes our food was out. It tasted fresh and well made. I had veggie quiche and a side garden salad with fruit. My mom had a Greek salad with shrimp, which she really enjoyed. Overall, the food was very good. I definitely would recommend if you want to support a small business and have a fresh, light meal. They also had pastries which looked delicious. I had the lemon cake and tried the key lime pie previously. Both were good. Hope you enjoy! read more

I enjoy Marguerite's Cafe. The food is always good and the service (except for a single exception below) is always attentive, prompt and professional. I have been there many times and have not had a bad meal (although I am mostly a breakfast person). There is little turnover in the staff, which is a good thing. My only objection and the only reason the place does not merit 5 stars is one particular server. There is one server that is just inattentive. It appears she finds everything to do BUT see if you need anything. I'm not expecting someone to stand next to the table, but if your job is a server, then that is your first job. Rolling napkins for setups, the cash register and especially reading the newspaper should be second. (Yes, I'm from the school that says a server does not sit in the open a read a newspaper or clip coupons with customers in the place). Note this is usually not an issue as I make sure I never sit in this one server's section, but I misjudged this morning (suggestion-sit by the wall, not the window). I should know the name of the source of my frustration but suffice it to say, she is the shortest one of the bunch--best description I can muster). The other servers know what I want and are very attentive. I have never had to get up and ask for a refill but after sitting with an empty glass for awhile while the server chatted with the owner this morning, I went to one of the other waitresses at the counter and got a refill. Most people would think talking to your boss was important (and I agree), but there has to be a check of your stations to make sure nothing is needed. Maybe I am just spoiled by the rest of the staff being so very good at their jobs. I honestly wanted to tip the other waitress this morning. All in all, please do not let my review dissuade you. This is a good place with very good food. If you find the service a bit slow, it is one person's fault and either ask for a different server or ask for your waitress to check on you from time to time. Granted one should not have to do that, but without some more training on how to be attentive, I'm not sure how they would fix that. What used to be a relaxing atmosphere, has become a bunch of waiters hanging around the counter discussing who is going to serve the next customer. Not only discussing who's next, we had to enjoy the annoying waiter who was singing on cue to every word he heard. I'm glad he didn't start singing "Tomorrow," when I heard Abby say something to him about tomorrow... The sun'll come out /Tomorrow /Bet your bottom dollar /That tomorrow There'll be sun By the way, I received a letter from "The Annoying Waiter" who is actually very entertaining and an excellent waiter. I apologized to him because he thought I was describing him as the person who had a cold. I didn't want to name the waitress who was ill. I tried to be vague but Chris took it personally. I wish him well in Los Angeles where he will try his stint at entertaining. Breakfast was enjoyed this time. Dena in the morning gave us 1 coffee, 1 Quiche-O-Day, 1 Side of Grits and 2 eggs. Nice little breakfast or lunch place, we have been going there for years and it is consistent, staff very friendly and atmosphere is very nice, if you enjoy sitting outside it is very quaint with Oaktree's above the patio a very nice sitting and they are dog friendly also. The food is average, not that that's a bad thing, it's consistently good but average nothing special or unusual just good. Parking is never a problem and it is Bike friendly also and not for from the bike trail or downtown. Good breakfast, LOUSY coffee. I've eaten breakfast here a number of times and the food is quite good. The funny thing is they tout their coffee as being their own in-house brew. Well. . .you know what, I'd rather they just buy a K-Cup machine or just serve whatever coffee the typical restaurant serves because I was totally unimpressed with the coffee. The food is always tasty, healthy, and perfectly prepared, and we've found the wait staff to be very friendly and attentive. The food to price ratio at Marguerite's Cafe is fabulous. In other words, for the price paid, diners are provided with a very tasty and quite bountiful fare. On this occasion I ordered the Egg and Sausage Quesadilla. Not knowing any better, I also ordered Home Fries. A word of warning...only do this if you are ginormously hungry or you just have-to-have home fries. I say this because when the Quesadillas arrived, four of them, my eyes and my stomach were not in full agreement, especially when the 'tatoes were also set down in front of me. The 4 of us went to Marguerite's for brunch today looking forward to a lovely meal outside on the patio. It was not to be! First of all, we waited for at least 10 minutes to be seated when there were numerous open and clean tables available. Then, we sat and sat and sat waiting for someone...anyone...to pay attention to us for over 20 minutes! We tried numerous times to get the attention of one of the two servers until it was obvious they were trying to ignore us! The final straw was when they seated a gentleman right next to us and within minutes got him water, a place setting, and a menu. When we finally got up and asked to speak to the manager, who happened to be one of the servers, there was no apology or explanation. My husband has managed restaurants his entire life, and at one point we even owned one, so we can be very understanding if a restaurant is understaffed or has kitchen issues or whatever, but you have to tell us what's going on! Otherwise, you just look like an extremely poorly managed restaurant that cares nothing about its customers and could care less if 4 of them walk out after waiting 30 minutes to get a menu! read more

Six of us had a very pleasant lunch on the patio. I had the Kielbasa Sandwich with sauerkraut and onions... really good! Everyone else also enjoyed their lunch. Jess was our server and she was great. In addition, we had a lot of fun joking back and forth. The patio was perfect with some tables under large trees and others in sunny areas. Two days later it was raining and the six of us ate breakfast indoors. The inside is small with a deli type take-out area and some tables in a separate area. It is clean and nicely decorated. Four of us had the French Toast, which was delicious. One other ordered the fresh fruit platter. It was huge with a good variety of very fresh seasonal fruits. I work in Downtown Dunedin, and Marguerite's is a frequent lunch spot. The menu is that of a typical sandwich cafe, but the specials rotate often and are always interesting. I love sandwiches, and I can always find something new and delicious on the specials list. Many of the sandwiches are served with chips by default, but I don't think I've ever been charged for subbing fries. The inside seating area is small and can get overwhelmed during peak times, and the service can slow when there is a lot going on. That said, the service is always friendly, very accommodating and eager to please. If you are sitting outside, feel free to adjust the umbrellas to block the sun. The servers will do it for you, but they don't seem to mind if you help yourself. Also, the plastic seating is double stacked on purpose. read more

We've been coming to Marguerites for years and have always enjoyed their breakfasts! Everything is so fresh and presents so perfectly. Just when we thought we loved omelets and their amazing breakfast potatoes, they made an amazing change to their PANCAKES!! My family and I had just finished a road race and came in, ordered the pancakes, and apparently they had just made a change in the recipe for them. They were absolutely amazing! So fluffy and loaded with flavor! We've kept our tradition of coming back to Marguerite's because of the great food and friendly servers, but now, there's a new favorite in our town!! Great little Cafe. It has a large outdoor patio under the shade trees. We were there for lunch and they had quite a few selections to choose from. My wife had a Grilled vegetable sandwich that came with Greek pasta salad. She raves about it. I had a Rueben sandwich that came with chips. The meat was thin cut and tender. It came on marble rye. Marguerite's has a good, but a small menu. I think I was expecting more when I first went, but I found the menu to be a little lacking. My food was delicious and the service was all right, but I guess I just had higher hopes for more options. The outdoor seating is lovely (and dog friendly!) It's a little off the beaten path down by the library on Douglas, but I was surprised to see it was actually pretty crowded when we were there. Would not recommend this place! I ordered the "Florida's Fabulous Turkey" sandwich, it is supposed to come with sprouts, honey mustard with an option to add avocado, which I did. I've been before and it was a solid 4 stars. Deserved a 3 stars after today. Scrambled eggs were overpowered by garlic powder and not cooked all the way. The home fries had way too much cracked pepper that they were actually spicy. And maybe it's their norm but the quiche Lorraine had chopped, almost deviled ham. I could hardly taste the eggs. Awesome place! The service was awesome and the food was unbelievable! I got the Piña Colada salad with the coconut chicken instead of the coconut shrimp. The piña colada dressing came on the side (which i loved) and was like nothing I have ever tasted before. There was just the right amount of chicken on it and it even came with bread on the side, which was a bonus. We always eat inside where its intimate & cooler. Full of regular locals off season and snow bird Blue Jay fans in the spring. I never had anything on the menu I didn't just love. Wait staff is very mature and experienced so they perceive what you are about to need = there's never an empty cup or glass needing filling or a finishing plate lingering on the table. It's a hidden gem. Hands down the best breakfast period. I compare all other breakfast now to Marguerites. Superb food quality and taste every time I eat there. Wow factor is key for me. I have ate at every breakfast spot in Dunedin and there is some good places to eat. So there is some competition here. Going up against Kelly's Elvis pancakes and living rooms breakfast quesadilla . If you want fancy servers and fancy silver and an ok meal. Maybe Marguerites is not for you. But if you just want great food and a come as you are atmosphere. Go to Marguerites. Awesome corned beef.
