It was almost clear rather than a dark, thick strew sauce The beef was thin, cooked and cut into squares like the thickness of a ham or bacon. Went out for a Friday date night and while walking through midtown my wife and I decided to go to Mari Chuy's as we have not been there for several years. I've always appreciated the location and setup of this midtown location. The summer is especially nice with the outdoor patio. It was very quiet for a Friday night which seemed strange as it was about 7:30, maybe a little too cold for most people! But fine with us as there was plenty of tables and the service was quick. We ordered some margaritas and they mentioned adding an order of Guacamole to start. Always hard to say no to fresh guac, which was good and a nice addition with the provided chips and Pico Salsa. Margaritas were good, nice large serving on the rocks. They didn't offer the option for blended, but after reading some other reviews sounds like it is an option. On the rocks was fine with us though, just mentioning it for others. Both my wife and I decided to order Combo plates, I ordered the Carne Asada Wet Burrito and my wife ordered the 2 taco plate with chicken. The Wet Burrito is huge, but it wasn't very flavorful. Basically a burrito stuffed with asada, and the sauce didn't add too much flavor surprisingly. The tacos were fresher and more flavorful. Beans and rice were standard, but a nice addition for the wet burrito. Overall a great experience and nice dinner out. My critique of the combo plates should be taken lightly, I would compare them to any other typical Mexican restaurant and the prices are comparable. Stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday. As it was early, it wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. Service was very friendly, quick, and attentive. I had ordered the peach margarita. Boy was a surprised by the size of the margarita that came out! I was not disappointed, and it was very tasty but beware if you're driving (LOL)! The chips and salsa to start were tasty. The chips were warm as if they were right out of the oven which was a nice touch. I ordered the chicken enchiladas which were tasty and my husband had the shrimp burrito which he enjoyed. Mari Chuys: good tacos, vibrantly decorated establishment, and excellent service. This was my first time at Mari Chuys. I've been to some other restaurants in this plaza but honestly didn't know they existed. We figured we should give them a try. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted by the owners. The restaurant is painted in really vibrant and bright colors. The restaurant is also clean and looks like they can accommodate groups of varying size. It also appears that there's outdoor seating. Ambiance 5/5 Service: From the greeting to all of the waitstaff everyone was super friendly and polite. They answers any questions we had and refilled our waters multiple times without needing to be flagged down. 5/5 Food: I'm a big fan of street tacos. The ingredients in mine tasted fresh. The meat was tender and the food was pretty good overall. I couldn't quite place my finger on it though something was missing from the seasoning. Maybe more citrus or heat? By no means am I a taco expert but it was a few tiers down from my favorite taco place in Reno. 4/5 Also great chips. If you're in the midtown area consider coming here for some pretty decent tacos and great chips. We had such a great time Sat night! We arrived early and it wasn't too busy yet. The atmosphere and decor is so fun! It's a little small but they have outside seating if the weather is nice. The staff is phenomenal! So sweet! It was a friends birthday and they treated her so special and sang to her too. The food was decent. I felt it lacked a little flavor. I like salted chips so I just added it myself. I had a wet carne asada burrito, and it was very good, the sauce just needed a tad more flavor for my liking. I ordered a strawberry and peach margarita. It had a non spicy Mexican spice called Tajin. It was a beautiful drink and a new spice for me to learn. I ordered beef, chicken and shrimp Fajitas. This place is insanely good and insanely cute! It's nestled in the adorable Sticks shopping center with an open-air dining area. We visited as apart of a food tour and were quickly greeted by a basket of fresh tortilla chips and jalapeño lime margaritas. I was concerned that the margarita would be too spicy for me, but it was a artful mix of tangy and spicy--a very pleasant heat. From there, we were served a sea bass fish taco which was paired with a pleasant salsa, which added a nice bite to the taco. The taco itself was one of the best fish tacos I've ever had, and I could really taste the freshness. Our waitress was also a delight and we had the pleasure of meeting Mari, one of the owners. This place is cool! If you are in the midtown area, give it a try! I did not try their cocktails, but they looked pretty amazing AND the seating is setup you drink in a shaded outdoors area which was nice! I dont think smoking or vaping is allowed however. We sat inside-ish, as the entire restaurant is open air (which is cool but has a small concern too) and very clean. The staff were all helpful and friendly. the menu is small but great! Seriously, some local mexican food places have menus that are just too big really. You dont need 60 items on your menu. Just have 25 and do them well? What do i know though, i didnt feel they were missing anything. I should have looked for tamales and Chile Colorado, two of my favorites. I had to order the eggs and chorizo combination plate, my friend had the wet burrito. He said he enjoyed the burrito, but it was lacking in spice. He isnt a spice king either. The burrito was giant as well! My plate was great, the rice was actually the best rice I have had locally and the whole pinto beans were a nice surprise, as normally they are refried. The eggs and chorizo were delicious, as well as the flour tortillas. I will definitely be back, might see if they have a taco tuesday and get something to drink for real! read more

Have you ever been to a place where the people just seem really, really NICE? That was 100% my experience here! My husband and I popped over to Chuy's to grab some margaritas to celebrate our anniversary. Although it was a bit chilly, we grabbed a seat out on the patio and asked if one of the heaters could be turned on. We were even lucky enough to meet Chuy himself when he came out to help! Him and my husband just starting chatting -- they have family in the same place and everything -- and he was seriously just a super nice guy, and made us feel beyond welcome. That level of genuine kindness and customer service really goes a long way for me, and I can't say enough positive things. For the food -- we only got margaritas and the queso appetizer. Both were really delicious, and came out SUPER fast which is always a plus! The waitress was all over our chips and salsa needs, and came back to see if we wanted a 2nd margarita right as our first was finishing. Can't wait to come back and try more food that Chuy's has to offer! read more

Mari Chuy's Mexican Kitchen in Midtown Reno is amazing. I went here with my mom, and we saw a bunch of people chillin outside, enjoying the sunshine and cool breeze underneath umbrellas, sipping margaritas... SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. This place is perfect for meeting friends for a mid-day meal, and honestly, it could even make for a good spot to take a casual date. This place even is pretty good for "people watching" and TBH there aren't many places in Reno that can claim that. We tried: Shrimp Chimichanga, Shrimp Ceviche Tostada, Shrimp Tacos, and a Mango Margarita. Everything was good, but the Shrimp Tostada was my fav. Shrimp Chimichanga: (it's like a deep fried burrito) If you've never tried one, you should try it! You can get your choice of filling, and it's pretty big and will get you full. Once the fresh tortilla is fried to transform the burrito into a chimichanga, it's warm and looks delicious but can be FLAKY like attractive females with lots of different guys texting them every day. Lol Shrimp Ceviche Tostada: Really fresh and light, with onions, cilantro, tomatoes, and lime, with two crispy tostada shells and a bunch of shrimp and avocado. Super good. Combined with the nice patio atmosphere and the latin music playing, if you close your eyes, you can imagine yourself at a resort in Cancun. Shrimp Tacos: My mom ordered these.
