Our cooking class at Metate was truly one of the highlights of our trip! From beginning to end, the entire experience was absolutely incredible. Chef Pedro made the class so much fun--he was engaging, knowledgeable, hilarious, and made everyone feel completely at home. This wasn't just a cooking class; it was a full experience filled with amazing food, delicious drinks, laughter, and a wonderful appreciation for Mexican cuisine and culture. Everything we prepared and tasted was fantastic, and the drinks were just as memorable. The atmosphere, the people, the food--every detail made the experience feel special. If you're visiting Cabo and looking for something unique and memorable to do, book this cooking class! We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone. Come hungry, ready to learn, laugh, drink, and eat incredibly well. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

The food, drinks and atmosphere were all amazing. Joel & his partner's service were above and beyond. Dice, the dog, was walking around the whole time checking in with everyone to make sure people were enjoying their dinner. Highly recommend!

Found this restaurant on Michelin Guide and decided to stop by and have a try. The food was very good. The service was very professional and tentative. But, while we were eating there were A LOT of flies around us. The waiters brought those little fans to fend them off, but It was honestly very gross and we felt like we were competing with the flies and were rushing to finish all the food. While I understand this is an outdoor restaurant and this might be a force beyond their control, I personally did not have a good time dining here. It was very disappointing.

Service 5 stars / Food 3 stars / Drinks 1 star We came to Metate Cabo after seeing their Michelin recognition and really wanted to love it. The service was genuinely excellent -- warm, attentive, and everyone tried very hard to create a great experience. The atmosphere is also super cute with great music, rustic tapestry charm, and live sax throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the food and drinks just missed the mark for us. Every cocktail we ordered was overly sweet despite being told no sweetener was used. One even came with sprinkles on the side. The rustic salad was okay overall, but again very sweet between the dressing and lychee. The grilled octopus was honestly one of the worst we've had -- served cold despite being charcoal grilled, very gummy texture, and sitting on an overly sugary date puree that tasted like straight brown sugar. The tacos were definitely the highlight (especially the steak taco), and the veggies/tortillas were fine. Other tables seemed to really enjoy dishes like the ceviche, corn, and short rib, so maybe we simply ordered wrong. But overall we left feeling like we'd consumed a pound of sugar and probably wouldn't return.

After a long day of travel, we were very happy to land a table at Metate. The maître d' seemed concerned when we didn't have a reservation, but still found us a table. It felt a bit like a show, especially since it was early. We were glad to sit in the beautiful courtyard and enjoy the tropical breeze. We ordered the guacamole, elote, and salad, and everything was amazing. They don't have a kids' menu, so my son tried the blackened fish tacos. The charred flavor was a bit mature for him, but he was hungry, and the popcorn ice cream afterward helped. Metate offers excellent service, gorgeous surroundings, and American prices!

Metate was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Cabo! I love Metate. The ambience, the service, the food, the drinks. Everything from beginning to end was absolutely incredible. This restaurant is definitely worthy of its Michelin guide recommendation! Service here runs smoothly, efficiently, and with kindness and grace. The wine list is fantastic, especially if you are looking to try more Mexican wines like we were. And the cocktails are divine. I loved my passionfruit margarita. Everything we ordered for dinner was almost perfectly executed. From the baja tacos to start, to our entrees of seafood risotto and steak, to the dessert. We loved every. single. bite. All of it! The space itself is gorgeous. It's tucked away on a sandy street off the main highway, and you enter into this beautiful oasis with large light-filled trees. It's a spacious restaurant and bar, and there was lovely live music that was just the right level so we could still enjoy our conversation. I highly recommend making a reservation for Metate when you are in Cabo San Lucas. I cannot wait to go back!!

My friend is a Michelin star whore..... If she sees a place rated by the aforementioned ...she has to go. And you know what....she was right. We did the Metate cooking dinner...and while you dont cook everything. It was a blast. We made cocktails, Tortillas, empanadas, and Ceviche For $75 it was a fun evening. I would come back.

Beautiful ambiance, delicious food and excellent service! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were taken into this beautiful outdoor space. The little details and the exceptional service were something special! We ordered the short rib, filet, and the fish dish. The flavors were seasoned perfectly and bursted in our mouths. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious! Even my picky teenager cleaned up her plate! That really speak volumes. The services provided by Joel and his team were perfect for a great dinner outside of the resort. We will definitely be back when we are in Cabo.

Had a bachelorette trip in Cabo San Lucas and this was an amazing pick by our planner. She reserved this place ahead of time and it was amazing. The vibes and ambiance were pleasing. There was live music and it was very spacious! Food was really good I enjoyed every single dish! Service was great as well. I would 100% recommend.

Where to begin? We couldn't get a reservation at the Cliffside restaurants we were hoping to visit, I am so happy we could get in to Metate which was recommended by some friends that came here a week ago. The character, ambience, and vibe of this place was authentic Baja California! We had a really great experience and Joel our server was a big part of that. He was fantastic! We got a tour of the grounds. He showed us all the local desert plants, and trees, and the character of this place with its gardens! Not surprising they've been endorsed by the Michelin guide two years running! I started with a Blanco margarita the pure artisan ingredients in this cocktail were amazing! My wife had a sangria. We started with the beef rib meat tacos, this was both mine and my wife's favorite dish. The octopus tacos took second place for me! The gordita de lingua and grilled corn were also delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed tasting different tequilas, and margaritas! And for dessert cornbread which was like a cheesecake and Blue corn ice cream (a really unique and delicious flavor very hard to describe, never had anything like it!) More about the decor, the vibe and the surroundings: there was an old DeLorean and cactuses that were look to be 100 years old, the buildings were a unique blend of custom-made pallets and tin roofs, with Mexican artwork everywhere, and memorabilia. I had one of those rare foodie moments blissfully, thinking I'm living my best life! I highly recommend this restaurant! Salute. I took a bunch of great pictures!

The restaurant was packed with locals when we went -- always a great sign. Cash only, so come prepared. What We Ordered Chocolate Clams (Cooked) You can choose raw or cooked -- I went with cooked and it was delicious. Very fresh, no fishy smell at all. One thing to note: every seafood dish comes topped with garlic. I'm not a fan of garlic and didn't know ahead of time, so I rinsed it off with hot water -- still amazing. Calamari Fresh, tender, and very well cooked. Seafood Special Combination Fish and squid were excellent. Lobster and shrimp were okay, nothing too special compared to the others. Price & Value The prices here are unbelievably cheap. * 6 chocolate clams = 285 pesos * Waldorf restaurant: 2 clams for $48 USD * Another place we tried: 2 clams for 340 pesos After eating around Cabo, this place clearly stood out for both quality and price. We couldn't even finish everything and packed leftovers back to the hotel. Total bill for all dishes: around $100 USD -- incredible. Overall Huge portions, super fresh seafood, local vibes, and unbeatable value. If you're anywhere near Cabo San Lucas, this spot is a must-visit.
