On 03/18/26 at 9pm, I experienced very poor service that I kept getting angrier the more I spoke to primarily, the manager and employees there. I am writing this review because I am infuriated that Mariano's has bad service. They were very reluctant to help. We purchased 3 bags of macadamia nuts on sale. However, when we went home and tried it. It had a bad stench and it was obvious that it was toxic to eat. It had the worst fowl smell. When we went to ask for an exchange, the employee said there was a policy saying that the items on sale could not be refunded. So next, I asked for the manager, and he was very rude in his tone, and instead of apologizing for the expired foods and even us trying it (we could get sick), the manager kept saying the sale items could not be returned in a rude tone. Finally, the more infuriating comment he made was beyond racist and rude for the situation. The manager said "do you speak English?" The male manager understood everything and the situation, why would he ridicule me. Yes, my English is short but I am a customer that deserves respect and at least apologize for spoiled food. We could get sick from the foods that they sell. The male manager should have been more responsible to check if the items sold, especially food is spoiled or not. People could get sick. What are they thinking? The male manager was a bully, and he should be fired from his job. Also, on notes he was racist because of my short English. But the male manager knows and understood the point of the conversation from me. I am a long time customer, but I won't be visiting anymore!!!!

The store is clean, bright, well stocked. I was here before a party, trying to find something to bring (I can never show up empty-handed), so I walked through the entire store. The bakery section looked great (cakes fun and well decorated). The sweets section looked inviting. I ended up in the floral section and there were plenty of colorful bunches (no sparse bundles of mums), and I found some pretty and bright seasonal bouquets.

Marianos is my go to place for fresh food. Staff and cashiers are friendly and helpful. The bar is now open, Starbucks (lovely and bright) in the store looks like it's opening soon. I really like their food/soup/salad bar. After purchasing your hot food, you can sit and eat at in-store seating. Food tastes great! Some Mariano's locations have live music, which is a treat. I have yet to attend a Mariano's in store event, and look forward to experiencing an event soon.

A freezer case full of damaged cartons

Under Kroger's wing for a few years now, Mariano's food quality, selection, and customer service have eroded noticeably. Our most recent experience at this location was quite disturbing. Marie Callender's frozen pot pies were advertised on sale. But incredibly, every box in the freezer case was ripped open and/or crushed (the product inside each box is not otherwise sealed). I couldn't find as much as one intact box. Frustrated, I went to the Customer Service counter. There, an indifferent worker summoned an equally indifferent front end manager. When I showed him the photo of a damaged box on my smartphone, he muttered, "That's not my department; a grocery worker will need to check it out," and walked away. No apology, no raincheck, no nothing. Safeway acquired Chicago's once-prosperous Dominick's chain, took it downmarket and ultimately out of business. Let's hope the once-fabulous Mariano's chain doesn't suffer a similar fate.

Online it says this location has a wine bar, but I've been twice and never seen one. Is there one?

To the best of my knowledge (I live 1/2 a mile away) the Mariano's at Golf & Waukegan roads, in Glenview, DOES NOT have a wine bar. They used to have a small "bar" by the Liquor department, (room for 4 stools, dry..no plumbing) but they got rid of… Read more

I happened to be in the area…read moreand visited this location a few days ago and I was initially impressed with what I thought was a clean store and quality product. I picked a pork item to take home and try. When I got home and started to thaw it out, I noticed that the item I purchased had expired 1 1/2 months before the purchase date. This was a use by date, not a purchase by date, so it had no shelf life. I thought any establishment would be embarrassed to sell a product 1 1/2 months after the expiration date. Now here's the problem. The Glenview store is 40 minutes from me. I am much closer to the Mt. Prospect store and I was under the impression that the Wild Fork sign on both stores means that they would both back up product sold by the Wild Fork corporation. Well Mt. Prospect wouldn't help me in any way since I did not buy the item there. Don't give me the "franchise" excuse. If Wild Fork can't figure out how to stand behind their product, no matter which location, I have no reason to ever set foot in any of their stores again.

If you're new to the suburbs are new to the area this is where you go to get your poultry chicken, turkey, etc. type needs. It is so popular that during Thanksgiving, for example and all the holidays you can expect to see Glenview police helping to direct traffic into their tiny parking lot. What's great though about them is that you can call them and put in your orders ahead of time by actually speaking to a human being who takes your order and then come in and actually pick up your order from a real human being. This type of traditional business is something I really love and glad it still exists here in Glenview. Everything they sell here is top quality poultry, and this is the go to. They have everything you could possibly think of and will just about customize and meet any of your required needs. I hope they stay around for another hundred years or more because this is the way meat buying should be.

There's several kiosks in the food court, but we usually go to the main one. Wait in line, tell them your order, pay, and they hand you a beeper/pager to tell you when the food is ready. By the end of your dining experience, the beeping noise will be engrained in your head, since you will hear the beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep from everyone else's pager. The main kiosk we go to, have over 30 items on their menu, but we gravitate usually to the same items, as they are consistently good. We get the ox-knee soup, soft tofu soup, and stir-fry squid. I do like the grocery store but that's about all this place is useful for. Skip the food court everyone raves about. It's not that great. It's just an average chain restaurant quality product. You can get better at a real restaurant for the same prices without the horrid racket of the grocery store. This place is legit louder than being in an Equinix server cage room!!! (See prior review for grocery store. Grocery here is 10/10. This review covers only the so called dining court. Two restaurants owned by the same people does not make a dining court. It's a monopoly in the dining court!)

According to Eric, the store is now set to close on August 8, moving up from the original closing date of August 22. That's just a month away! He mentioned that Kroger is swapping the closing date of this location with the one in Buffalo Grove. Eric assured me that he'll still have a job with the company, but his current commute is just one minute, and now, he doesn't yet know where he'll be reassigned. Even before hearing that the store would be closing two weeks earlier than expected, I was already feeling nostalgic. I've shopped at this Mariano's for over 10 years. It's huge, clean, and rarely overcrowded--maybe that's part of what hurt it from a business perspective. I've taken a few photos to help remember it, and I know I'll miss this place a lot.

The inside is clean, with some nicer displays and dining areas that I don't always see at Mariano's locations. The prices are fairly competitive, with plenty of items on sale though some require fairly large quantities before the sale price is triggered. Though the store is enormous, products aren't grouped too tightly so there is plenty of space to navigate around the store (though, I would prefer a bit more aisle spacing as some areas seem to have a good amount of unused space). This also means that the selection is large, but not as enormous as if they used less space for making attractive displays and instead packed products more tightly on the aisles. Checkout is fairly quick, with a good number of self checkout kiosks available to use.
