Maria's Café has been on a list of mine for a very long time to visit. I was recently in San Antonio and a friend suggested we go there for breakfast. I realize when we got there, I've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a long time. I ordered a single grande breakfast taco. It was so good, it's one of those meals I can't stop thinking about. Next time in San Antonio I'll be going there again. It's a very small restaurant with a very little parking, but we found street parking nearby and only had to wait a few minutes on a Saturday to get some breakfast. [Entrance is through the back door under a carport, rather than the street side entrance.] I think there are only seven or eight tables with menus posted on the wall and they also gave us individual menus to review. My companion had the Chilaquiles plate, which he really enjoyed. I ordered the Joselito taco which consisted of: Chilaquiles, bacon, Carne Guisada, and cheese. I can't even begin to describe how delicious that taco was. When I ordered the waitress told me I could get it as a "grande". I ordered the larger taco that filled the plate and I consumed every single bit of it! Oh my, even thinking of it now makes my mouth water! [When I'm visiting San Antonio, I often go to Rolando's tacos on Hilderbrand. Although it's a much larger restaurant, the taco here was equally as delicious.] I definitely want to return SOON!

Was recommended by a foodie friend who is on the search for the best breakfast tacos. Fresh tortillas and green salsa! We loved it, and even more fun was we found that our friends had custom tacos on the wall. The whole menu is handwritten on boards on the wall. Friendly family/service. Will be back!

When you want to feel like family come here! The food is delicious and the people are friendly. Someone will talk to you. The owners will be there and will customize your order to make sure you get what your heart desires. They have a regular menu and the wall menu. I once wore my Conjunto tshirt and that sparked a conversation like none other. So much history can be found here. I learned something new about the music and musicians and ate some good food. Puro San Anto!

This is one of the grande tacos. The size of the plate!

This place is definitely 5 's! It's definitely a mom and pop place where you actually get to meet the mom and pop! Maria and her husband were super welcoming and friendly! This place is small so expect a wait. We had a grande taco and two regular sized tacos and left so full!!! The sweet tea was very sweet so if you are sensitive to overly sweet tea get a half and half. The coffee was good. You can get ANYTHING customized the people had a bowl of charro beans with rice that looked amazing....for next time. Because there will definitely be a next time!

The service was phenomenal! We were greeted outside, welcomed in, and were given a fun rundown on the restaurant. It's very small, maybe seats about 30 people, if even that much. The menu itself is literally all over the place. As in an actual menu, menus on the walls, windows, and anything you can imagine in your head. The tacos were delicious, the brisket was amazing (and at 10:30 we got the last two brisket tacos, that's how fast they sell) and the carne guisada was perfection. I wasn't crazy about the fideo but it wasn't awful, just meh. The one thing I would be mindful of is that since the "menu" is kind of all over the place is that somehow we spent over $50 on 5 tacos, one cup of fideo, and a Mexican Coke. :-/

Found Maria's Cafe and glad we did! The staff was warm and helpful. Loved the "homey" ambiance and so many different "off-menu" options they already had- many more than I ever would have considered. I didn't choose any this time (but I will) and went off-off-menu with my 1/2 carne guisada 1/2 barbacoa and chorizo, papas, eggs & cheese. They were amazing on lightly toasted great flour tortillas. We'll be back for sure!

Best Mexican food in the city. Try a Steve taco or some guisada enchiladas. Highly recommend.

Very humble place to eat. The place might be small, but it is so worth the wait. We only waited like 10 min. We will be back again.

Alittle on the pricey side but the food was homemade and delicious. If it's not on the menu, they'll still fix it for you!

I placed an order and walked to the coffee shop, only to be informed that they were bought out and didn't even have my order or the right ingredients to make it. Instead of a refund, they offered to make me a regular coffee which I declined. I took a long walk just to go there to pay $12 for coffee that didn't exist and a coffee shop that doesn't exist as of 2 weeks ago! They need to take their ordering down and website if they won't fulfill your order. It's absolutely stealing my money!!!!! I tried emailing, calling and asking for a refund in person and I was denied. What a great way to treat someone visiting here!

I didn't end up getting anything as I found their coffee cup sizes to be small & I wanted something a little bit bigger. They didn't have many items for sale. It wasn't very busy while my friend & I sat outside of the shop. There are seating areas in the coffee shop to hang out at.
