I drove in from Houston and made a stop at Taqueria Data Point, and it did not disappoint. The food was easily better than a lot of spots I've tried back home. This is real, authentic Mexican food done right. The customer service was excellent, and everything came out quickly. I ordered the mini taquitos with al pastor and asada, their torcas plate, and the quesabirria, everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. I was also really impressed with the portion sizes, they give you a great amount of food for what you pay. I actually ended up packing two to-go boxes to bring back home. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in San Antonio. Looking forward to trying more of their menu! read more

Stopped by whilst in the mood for a burrito. I know, they're known more for their mini-tacos but I decided to try something different. Great, homey Tex-Mex restaurant atmosphere, service was friendly if not particularly fast. The chicken burrito was good, though nothing to write home about. A tad bland, even with a dose of salsa to kick things up. Still, I'd give it a three or four out of five stars were it not for the state of the cutlery. I got a dirty knife (pictured) even though it was wrapped in a napkin. This was replaced but it did leave an impression. This place scores a 3 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. I missed taking a photo of the barbacoa tacos but these are worth posting about! I ordered carry out so I can't speak to the ambiance though the service was patient, informative, and timely. I requested corn tortillas because I really don't like flour (they typically make me feel ill). They mistakenly gave me flour anyway but because it was carry out, I didn't notice until I was home. I ate them anyway and they still got a 10/10 even with my order incorrect! That's how delicious these were. The tortillas were soft, and melted in my mouth like butter. The barbacoa was juicy without being greasy. The flavors were perfect and it was accompanied by chopped white onion, cilantro and lime. I added avocado and it was a complete party in my mouth. The green sauce is milder than I anticipated, but still added flavor. The nachos were good, but the barbacoa stole the show for me. read more

I honestly would have never went to this place if it wasn't suggested to me but so glad it was. Everything was so fresh and good. There was a bit of a language barrier though. I ordered the Crispy Taco lunch combo with chicken and on soft shell. While placing my order, I asked if that was possible considering it is called a "Crispy" taco combo and was told yes. The combo included salad with avocado, rice, and beans. To my surprise, I was brought and charged for steak taco meal with extra rice. While I could've sent it back, I'm glad I kept it because it was delicious. Must've been meant for me to get steak and not chicken. The steak was seasoned so well. I did have to ask for the salad as well since the meal brought to me didn't include it. I threw the salad, avocado, and lime on my tacos and my oh my! I also ordered a Watermelon Agua Fresca. Great food! We can here after visiting family at St. Luke's Hospital down the street. We were greeted immediately and offered whichever table we wanted. I ordered crispy taco plate with nopalitos, sin carne. My bf ordered the menudo. Both were delicious! We ended up having to take it all to go before our food came out but the staff packed it up swiftly. Super grateful for their willingness to accommodate. Clean and spacious. I've been here a few times. The breakfast platters are a good value, but the breakfast tacos seem to be on the pricy side. I've also had their beef enchiladas for lunch a couple of times, and they were solid. They're open very late, it's very roomy, and good for groups. This place had been on my radar based on the favorable reviews on Yelp. Since I don't live in the area, I've not made the effort to stop in. I finally got my chance after finishing an appointment in the area. When we arrived, there was plenty of parking. My wife and I were greeted by a friendly waitress and was told to sit anywhere. There was plenty of seating, so we opted for a booth. A different waitress then came by to take our order. I had the carne guisada taco and barbacoa taco. I started off the with the carne guisada. It was very good. The tortillas were super soft. The barbacoa taco was next. It too tasted very good. I am glad that I had the chance to try this place. The one who took my order was the cashier. A group of 3 came in right after me and the waiter went to their table within a few minutes of them sitting down. Great place for some tacos. We came for Saturday brunch and the food was amazing. Surprisingly not busy, we were seated quickly and the food was fresh and didn't take that long. For tacos, we got the street tacos on corn (barbacoa and pastor), guisada on flour and campechano on flour. The green salsa is definitely spicier than I expected but cuts the grease well, so I advise just trying it on it's on first before adding toppings. My wife said the barbacoa was the best bite of taco she's ever had and I agree it's really good. I like mine with the cilantro and onions and a bite of the jalapeno. Al pastor is also very good, with just enough char. The corn tortillas are amazing. If you prefer flour tortillas, they are hot and puffy, a bit thicker for sure but will be filling. The guisada has giant chunks of meat that are delicious in that red gravy. Campechano was good too but pretty distant second to all the other meat options. If I could do over everything, would just order some barbacoa on flour and call it a day. In fact I'd order like 10 of those to go if I could. All that said, no chips? I'd like to preface this by saying how good the food actually is here. It's been our go to place near our new place for breakfast tacos. We even got some other family to go and they liked it too. It's super convenient when we don't feel like going out of the way for our favorite spot. Now here's the problem. We keep getting sick. First time when we and the family who don't live with us had it the same day, everyone got sick even though we ate different items. We thought, maybe the salsa was bad? Maybe coincidence? We liked it enough to try again. Same thing. Didn't go back for a while and the family got some more and brought us some. Happened again! Seems at this point that something we are getting here hasn't been stored correctly. We hope they will look into this. We would love to come back. read more

Really good tacos and comes with a lot at a good price! I went with 2 of my friends and we got 3 plates of tacos - barbacoa, pastor and carnitas and they were all really good. They come with a lot of meat on each taco, I thought I could eat more because they looked so small but it was a lot more filling than I thought. The Chilaquiles Mexicanos Verdes con Pollo caught my eye on the menu and, let me just say, was absolutely delicious! Probably one of the best Mexican breakfast plates in San Antonio! The chips are nice and fresh, the 4 salsas they serve are all delicious and provide nice variety, the flour tortillas were fresh, fluffy, and downright tasty! I'm from the Rio Grande Valley and I know authentic valley tacos very well. Data Point has the closest I have found in all of San Antonio. They even include avocado with my order of the mini tacos asada which is amazing since that is normally an extra charge at other restaurants. The salsa and chips are delicious as well! I finally returned to Taqueria Datapoint after the reopening. It was long overdue and I am so happy I went back because their food is as delicious as ever and their customer service is great as usual. I feel like their salsas got even better and their menu is pretty much the same. I did not notice any differences in the food or menu but the new dining area is so much nicer. The chips and salsa are amazing and still complimentary and the street tacos were delicious. Overall a great taco place. read more
