Went here on the last day of our visit. Wish we did on our first day. The portion was big I would have loved to eat the leftovers later. I would have also came multiple times. My breakfast was delicious. To top it off the tortillas are one out of a million. So fresh, light and fluffy. Next time we visit San Antonio, I want to try the Horchata and another dish. Been going here for breakfast a few times now in the last few weeks. The complimentary cookies that come with the coffee is a nice touch. The service is good and attentive. The food is delicious. BEST Mexican restaurant on McCullough and surrounding neighborhood area, hands down! I was going to be in this area a few weeks and needed a spot close by for breakfast or lunch. I tried two other restaurants on McCullough that didn't even compare to Regio Cafe's quality, freshness, service and ugh-THE TORTILLAS! These torts are probably the best I've had in SA, yet! Soft and fluffy every single time, even when they're cooled down they're perfect. They don't turn into a hard disk- ha! You know what I'm talking about. I go no where else for Mexican food near McCullough. The cheese they use in their tacos is out of this world...what KIND is it! Their coffee is good enough to drink BLACK- no bitterness and super fresh. Their tortilla CHIPS, guys they are never stale but very toasted and crunchy. And to compliment your meal, you MUST ask for the (small batch) "special red hot sauce" if it's available, the Owner makes herself! . I've gained at least five pounds, I'm sure of it!) For breakfast or brunch, my fav is the Huevos Rancheros! The fried potatoes are cut into the perfect small cube and perfectly fried, not a quartered potato that could choke a mule like you get in some restaurants. Their refried beans are excellent. They put effort into their cooking and it really shows. It's the perfect hole in the wall with great ambience- a mix of music genres, not too loud, not too low, the place is clean and the family staff always has a warm welcoming smile, every time. Ordered 3 tacos, and it was $10. 1-bean and cheese taco - pretty basic, nothing special about it 1-bacon and egg taco - The eggs are possibly bag egg scrambled. The bacon was a whole strip, which was nice. 1-barbacoa taco - Not very much meat, and it was very greasy and ended up greasing the bag. I don't really see the hype for the tacos. I'm going to start of with the good which was the service I give mad props to that lady running the store by herself she does drive thru, waiter, and busboy I hope she is getting paid enough bc that's a 3 people job. This is the absolutely most awesomest Mexican restaurant for breakfast and lunch! I don't think I've ever been here for dinner, but I'm not sure why. This is a dive, not swanky or pretentious. Just really REALLY awesome breakfast tacos. The machicado, papas rancheros, chorizo & egg...all of them are just delicious. Really fresh ingredients. Stopped in the drive thru on a nice breakfast before a day exploring the city. Many options including tacos, burritos, and various breakfast plates to get your day started. There's also dine in, but usually it is crowded in the morning as everyone loves breakfast here. Plus it's not a big joint, but it'll get you going if you're on the go or on the way to work. I simply had two bacon egg and cheese tacos from the drive thru. The bacon had a delicious greasy flavor to it, but it could've been cooked a little less. Crispy bacon isn't bad at all, but I at least like to be able to have it with flavor. The eggs were pretty good, and the cheese wasn't really present in the taco, but overall not a bad way to start the day. Parking is limited, like I said, so just try the drive thru if you don't have time to sit and eat. The huevos rancheros meal looked pretty good, but I didn't try it because I wasn't that hungry. Went to this place after reading the yelp reviews and was not disappointed at all. First let's start with the food. I had the menudo and it reminded me of my mother's menudo. Delicious. My husband had the barbacoa tacos and he said they were so good and that the tortilla was the best! The coffee is great and our little baby Gad a whole bowl of refried beans! Just with the taste alone I would totally go again. Next is the service! Sat ourselves and we were greeted by a waitress almost immediately. The fan was on right on top of the table and I didn't want the fan on cus if out baby and it had just rained and I asked if the could turn it off and they turned it off right away. The waitress came back a few times while we ate, it was excellent service! All in all, this place is a for sure 5 stars! Would totally recommend for authentic Mexican food. Parking is ample in the next lot. I ordered the lunch special of four corn tortilla tacos. The entrees took thirty minutes to arrive, but were worth the wait. The al pastor was my favorite. The side of beans were delicious. My only complaint was that the corn tortillas were very greasy. I like that Regio Cafe isn't Tex Mex, so none of the tacos were spicy. Pulled up this morning to get 1 taco with bacon, egg, potato, and cheese. The 3 cars that ordered after me all got their orders before me. I actually had to place my order again at the window. I'm not sure what they did with it the first time. They asked me to pull up and when my order came out, the waitress wasn't wearing her mask properly. Her nose wasn't covered. I pointed out that masks weren't effective if your nose isn't covered. She pulled her mask up over her nose and I just kinda blew it off. I know we're all tired of wearing them, plus I was hungry and eager to eat my taco. Then I bit into it and there was no cheese! I'm sorry, but with a bacon, egg, potato, and cheese taco, you've gotta have some melty cheese to bind it all together and give it some saltiness. I pulled back into the drive through (there were no other cars) to let them know that my order was wrong. Lo and behold, the same waitress again didn't have her mask on correctly. This is why we can't have nice things. Deciding that I didn't want her breathing all over my taco a second time, I just went on and asked for a refund. I really like the food here, but I do expect for restaurants to follow the health guidelines that have been set out for them. First time coming to this location after working on this side of town for many years. Boy do I regret that! Hot fresh food, Blue plate award on the wall, and fast friendly service. One of the most important things for me when I eat at a Mexican restaurant is the tortillas and the taste of the bean and cheese tacos. If you can't get those two things right then I'm not coming back. This place does not disappoint. Both the corn and flour tortillas were soft and pliable. The green hot sauce was the right amount of hot. On the table not only did they have half and half , but also French vanilla and Hazelnut creamer, I have never been to a Mex restaurant that has done that, Ever! Even the food was a good price and they offer a three taco special to go with a 24 oz drink for 3.69, that is unheard of as well. This will be my new to go restaurant for breakfast. read more

I'm so happy I ventured out here to feed my growling stomach. They have Saturday breakfast specials which I think is a great deal. It's just unfortunate that they were out of one of the item in there which of course the one I decided to get first. I came pretty late for breakfast (almost 10a). However, my second choice did not disappoint. I ordered their Huevos Ranchero with your choice of breakfast meat and it comes with potatoes and unlimited coffee for $5.95 with tax. Excited to try this place after the "great" reviews while visiting San Antonio with the family. Walked in on a Sunday morning around 845am and wasn't busy but maybe 4/5 tables and sat ourselves. Menu is pretty simple, straightforward with not a lot of options, which means they should be able to kill what they make with less options. Unfortunately they did not. I ordered the "migas" and when it came out, as you can see in the picture, it looked nothing like Migas. There was only tortillas chips mixed in the eggs, the beans were not flavorful at all, and at a Mexican restaurant, I expect the beans to at least be solid. The potatoes were very dry and like the beans, no flavor at all. I had to load the salsa to hope to have some sort of flavor. I also ordered the "migas" breakfast tacos, and to no surprise it was just as bad. Eggs with roetualls chips in a tortilla. Very disappointed. The pancake plate was enjoyable, pancakes were good and eggs were under seasoned. I would not return to this place and will try and find a better place in the area. read more

You cant judge a book by its cover. I stopped for lunch on a Friday at 12:50. It was packed. You seat yourself. I had to wait briefly for a table. I was immediately attended to by the friendly waitress. The chips were thicker than what I am accustomed to and we're very good and seasoned nicely. This salsa and queso were also very good. I ordered the abondigas, I was glad I did. This dish was full of flavor. The beans were cooked perfectly answer were a great compliment to this dish. The broth was oh so good, and had the right amount of heat. The flour tortillas were handmade deliciousness. This is now one of my favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

This is the third time I've been here. It's a smaller establishment with a local vibe. If you're looking for a lunch/breakfast place to be a regular at, this may be your place. I always order tacos and the tortillas are great. Today was the the first time I've ordered something other than a breakfast item and I don't recommend their beef fajitas. I got a beef fajita taco and the meat was tough and didn't have much tenderness to it; also didn't look good. Can't go wrong with a bean and cheese taco; they're chorizo egg taco was decent. Their service is alright, but better if you can speak to the staff in Spanish. They have a drive thru but be prepared to wait up to 10min at the window unless you've ordered your food ahead of time. Bonus: they currently have a free large horchata with a yelp check in. Overall, it's a decent place and I'd come back for their breakfast items only. read more

Quiet little hidden gem of am authentic Mexican restaurant. The tortillas are amazing. I've never seen corn tortillas that were larger than the flour ones. Their parking had spilled over into the next business so I knew I had found something special. Be prepared to wait if you have much more than four people to be seated. First time here and i used the reviews to guide me. I had The green enchiladas plate and it was extremely yummy. Combined with the homemade corn tortillas ,beans and rice was perfect. You can immediately tell that those who know good Mex food will come here. A small little quaint restaurant that is worth checking out and I will definitely come back. Very clean and with good service by the waitresses. The owner greeted me at the cash register and was extremely nice ,he even took off the ice tea because I had the lunch special.
