Tiramisu
Krupa S.

Definitely a very popular place in Pasadena. we went in on a Friday at 615p and had a short wait because we had called ahead. But the walk ins had about a 40 min wait. The servers are all very friendly. To start, we got glasses of cabernet sauvignon and lambrusco which were both light and delicious. The flavors paired well with our food. To start, we got calamari, fried zucchini and rosemary bread. The fried zucchini was a little oily. The rosemary bread was fresh and warm. However, next time, will probably skip the starters. For entrees, I got the eggplant parm and it was delicious. My husband got the chicken parm with noodles and seasoned veggies. The veggies were seasoned so well. He enjoyed his entree. My mom in law got the meat lasagna and enjoyed it. My dad in law got the meat ravioli and liked his dish too. The entrees were definitely more of a hit for us. Their entree sizes are incredibly generous, we took home a lot of leftovers. To end, we got the tiramisu and apple crumble. The tiramisu was very coffee forward which i love and not too sweet. The apple crumbl was nice and warm, paired well with vanilla ice cream. We definitely went home with a food coma. Worth checking out if you're in the area, definitely worth for the entrees and dessert. I forgot to take photos of the entrees. But will post the ones I got!

Sesame chicken with fettuccine instead of spaghetti marinara.

I love Maria's! I usually dine at the one on Pico in Westwood however, I decided to order in from home tonight, from Maria's in Pasadena. Service is always stellar at Maria's and it goes to show their excellent service stems restaurant wide. I called to request Fettucine sauce on my fettucuine noodles as a substitute for the marinara and spaghetti with the Sesame Chicken. The gentlemen Christian who answered the phone was so kind, professional and accommodating to my request. There was no option on Postmates to substitute which is why I had to call and Christian provided excellent service, even after I called him 3 times. Excellent service is rare nowadays so when I come across such kind professional service, it is greatly appreciated. Let's not forget my meal was perfect, my requested noted and delivered and OH SO DELICIOUS!!!!! Well done, Christian and the Manager, for accommodating my request with care. This is why I will always return to Maria's. The food is always delicious, plentiful and the service is on point. Thank you!

I lived near Maria's Italian Kitchen in Pasadena for nearly 6 years but it was my first visit there just last week. The service was excellent- greeted upon arrival, seated quickly, and our server was cheerful and friendly. The restaurant was nicely decorated with photos of Maria's family and it just gave me a homely, welcoming vibe. The food was excellent! We ordered their signature bread (they charge $0.50 for butter), half portion of the calamari (love how there's 1/2 size portions for their appetizers), a bowl of minestrone soup, Chicken Marsala, and Spaghetti with Meatballs. I really liked the flavor of the marinara sauce! I was super full by the time I was done with my entrees so I didn't have the chance to try their gelato. I will be sure to save room for dessert at my next visit! Highly recommend! Thank you, Maria's for a great evening!

I absolutely love this place! My daughter, brother, and husband took me here for brunch on Mother's Day and we had such a great time. The food is really tasty, and the prices are quite reasonable for what you get. I have to say, my favorite dish is definitely the cheese ravioli!

Bar area

The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome. Mariana, our server, guided us through both the wine and food selections with excellent recommendations and attention to detail. We decided on the Chicken Marsala, served with risotto and pasta, as well as the rigatoni with meatballs. From start to finish, the entire experience felt effortless, comfortable, and inviting. While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed a glass of wine along with fresh focaccia bread, which was a great way to begin the evening. Once the dishes arrived, everything exceeded expectations. The portions were perfectly balanced, the presentation was elegant and well-executed, and every dish was outstanding. The bolognese sauce was rich, balanced, and full of flavor, while the risotto was cooked perfectly. What truly stood out, however, was Mariana's exceptional customer service. Her professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience. The restaurant also offers plenty of parking and very clean restrooms. We will definitely be coming back.

Pappardelle & Sausage, Chicken Piccata

Marias is a Pasadena GEM! I came with my family which is perfect. We ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them amongst ourselves. All the pasta dishes were phenomenal. We tried the Chicken Piccata, pappardelle and sausage, Shrimp Scampi, Spaghetti and Clams. The Christmas Salad was also perfection with the perfect tang and toppings. In addition to that, we loved the appetizers (fried zucchini, calamari, Christmas cauliflower) which I forgot to take pictures of because they were delicious!!!!! Overall, I suggest people try Marias for that homey Italian meal! The servers were super hospitable and helpful and the interior really takes you to that classic Italian feel.

Huge Sunday for like 4 people

My lady been wanting to try this spot I have not been here over ten years the one in Pasadena. The young lady Shaunte was very professional and really nice. We took advantage of the $40 that include salad, cheese garlic bread, and main course Chicken Alfredo fettuccine. My lady was blown away how much food which they are known for, plus we got huge Sunday omg was ridiculous. Overall was great choice and will come again.

Maria's Italian Kitchen is one of my fave chains that feel like a mom and pop shop. Located in a small strip mall, this Italian restaurant is always busy. I came between lunch and dinner at around 430 pm on a Sun and it was already buzzing! This place serves up one of my favorite carbonaras. I think it's because of the smokey flavor of the sauce. I love the pancetta and peas that accompany the noodles. Yum! I also love their bread with olive oil and balsamic. Used to be free but they now charge $1 for the basket of bread. We also got the calamari. It's light and airy, just like it's supposed to be. The hostess was really nice. Our server was also. Overall a great experience, as usual, at Maria's. Will be back for more!

Great service! Even though it was getting crowded, the server took our orders in a timely manner. The food came out quick enough, and was fresh with large portions. And my family has always the nostalgic interior with many of the owner's family history and photos!

Do they take reservations?

Hit there Michael. We do take reservations for larger groups who want to have a 'Party @ Maria's' and who want to make sure they nail down an adequate space in advance...Here's where you can do that:…

Do you have full bar where you make frozen drinks like Margaritas and frozen Daiquiris?

I'm pretty sure they only have wine and beer. But it's good wine and beer!

Their 4 squares was more than what I had expected. 2 slices filled me up! Location is on the second floor, almost hidden but don't worry, to locate it, just walk west, towards lake st once you're upstairs, it's wrapped around the little brunch spot. You can actually miss it if you're not too familiar. Pizza. Astounding. Definitely fresh ingredients. Tastes like Detroit style. Massive amount of cheese but not too much where it's overpowering. The pepperoni were the right amount as they double up the layers, hence the name. The workers were quick to attend to our needs. Service was definitely what you'd expect for a restaurant. However , dining location indoors only is quite small, maybe about 3-4 tables with shut 4 seats to each. Overall, I would come back and try their other pies, we love pizza and this is our new favorite place to visit when we're in the area!

Unfortunately, it proved to not really be for my tastes. I will mention, as maybe this was an issue, that the day I chose to go was of course the odd day where they had some sort of "emergency" and didn't open their doors until hours after usual, so maybe their game was off. Located in a small Pasadena strip mall, the parking is on the side street and goes up to the second floor, which is where the pizza place is located anyway along with an Indian restaurant and a couple more businesses. The place is incredibly tiny, clearly meant for take out and not at all for dine in. There are three 4-people tables total and no bathrooms for customers. Went right when they opened and got a large Caesar salad, which was pretty good. The problem were the two four square pizzas. And the biggest trouble was the sauce, which is way too sweet in my opinion. I got the plain cheese and one with black olives and Italian sausage, which was more generous with the olives than the spare sausage. I didn't think it was anything special. Then again, I have been to the main places in Detroit and not been wowed there either. Still, this wasn't as good as other Detroit pizzas I've tried, so unfortunately I can't recommend it from my experience.

It's one of my friend's favorite places too. Parking can be free if you're down to hunt for it, walk a bit, and mind the signs, but if anything there's always metered parking or the parking structures, many such Pasadena cases, but makes sense for the downtown area. My friends and I came here on a later Friday evening and there was no wait to walk up to the counter and order. Lots of historic pictures of celebrities who have dined there. Fun fact, NONE of the framed pictures and artwork (especially the largest one) are centered. If you're not too sure what to order, they have a lot of their pizza behind the glass for you to get an idea of what you're going to be feasting on. Most items come out quickly and decently hot, but for freshly made/assembled items like the garlic bread I ordered, it may take 10-15 minutes, but it comes out super hot and it's super worth it. Water is self serve and they also have condiments like Parmesan cheese, crushed red peppers, garlic powder, and other various spices. For my order, we got the: 1) Spicy Spring: -Rectangular cut pizza with Diavolo (one of the funniest Jojo villains to be honest) sauce, small cup pepperonis, fresh mozzarella, and Pecorino Romano. -I love pepperonis and they did not skimp out on how many goes on a slice. Crispy edges and salty perfection. Not super spicy, but has enough of a kick to make each bite addicting. 2) Sicilian Style Garlic Bread: -If you told me this was a sauceless cheese pizza I would have wholeheartedly believed you. Comes in a rectangle cut into 6 pieces. Super shareable and comes with your choice of sauce and I got the vodka sauce. -The worker in the cool goggle glasses recommended putting the crushed red peppers with the vodka sauce, and he was COOKING. Delicious and super garlicky and cheesy on it's own but the additional add-ons added a much needed extra kick to keep things lively. Word of warning, it is SUPER oily, but that's partially what makes a pizza so indulgently deliciously. Solid favorite of Pasadena and for pizza enjoyers.

Very unique and good, I look forward to replicating at home with a little more balsamic. I ordered the Settebello $21 pizza as a main entree of which I thought was advertised with pancetta, mushrooms and Italian sausage. Pizza came out hot and fresh, but with prosciutto instead of the perceived menu listed pancetta. Pizza sauce was good, the sausage and mushrooms were great. Crust was a little doughy, not crispy but charcoal charred in places. Not phenomenal but not bad, middle of the road overall. Service started off great but fell flat to the floor. Drinks and food came out on time indicating bar staff and kitchen staff were on point. Waiting staff could up their game. No check up or check in. No offers for drink refills or another round. I had to ask for refills on water. Final bill $56.35 for one drink, appetizer and pizza for a solo dinner. Three (3) stars at best! Room for improvements.

I've had a lot of pizza from New York City, to Italy, to many destinations in between and this crust is up there as some of the best especially to be based in California. That being said, I've had better pizza. The sauce really left something to be desired. It was underwhelming and a bit bland. The wow factor was definitely missing and sauce tends to really make or break a good slice of pizza. Same goes for the cheese used...It just lacked that yummy cheesy goodness you usually anticipate when you bite into a slice and it didn't help that they were a little skimpy with how much cheese they put on their pizza. I think this place would be phenomenal if they took the time to nail the sauce down and really invested in good quality cheese. They're so close just missing the mark on the flavor. The crust absolutely saves them from being bad but it still made it just an "okay" slice of pizza. The staff at the order window were friendly and helpful. The environment could use a little cleaning but overall it seems like it reflected the hipster/ quick eats vibe they're going for and it works for their business. I knew there was pizza but I wanted to know more about their sandwiches and salads. I found out that they do have daily / weekly specials that are a great value. I decided to order a special small Italian sausage pizza and an order of six nude chicken wings with ranch dip on the side. I sat down and waited for the order to be completed. There were a few people at some tables finishing up their lunch. While I was there the phone was constantly ringing with takeout orders. The walls had simple decorations that created a nice ambiance.
