Heard that this is the place to go for deep dish. The breading and crust was really tasty and texture-wise it had a good crunch to the crust and firm but easy to break through dough. I read a lot of the reviews saying the Biggio was where it's at, so I had to try that one. We also did the half and half deal and got the BBQ chicken with it. Amongst the two, the BBQ chicken was overall tastier. The Biggio, although I love meat lover pizza, was a bit too salty for me. The saltiness felt like they could've prepped the meats a bit more but I did feel the heaviness that came with it. The BBQ chicken was a good balance of savory and sweet. I wish the pricing was better and that the pizza was less salty. Overall it's pretty good, but for value I'm going to try and find another deep dish joint. read more

I'd heard about Fuji & Vi's years ago but never got around to visiting since it's a bit of a drive. We happened to be in the area recently and decided to finally stop by. If you're visiting with a stroller, I'd recommend leaving it behind if possible. There are no elevators and while ADA-accessible ramps are available, they were somewhat out of the way. The walkways are also very narrow, with tables from neighboring eateries further limiting the space. The restaurant itself is quite small, with only three indoor tables that seat four people each, no outdoor seating available. Since all the tables were occupied, we opted for takeout. When we arrived, no one was at the counter so we had to ring the bell to get assistance. The Detroit-style pizza was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the pizza had great flavor overall. My only major complaint was the temperature inside the restaurant. The thermostat was showing 87 degrees, and it felt very warm. Standing inside for just a few minutes while ordering was uncomfortable so I can't imagine dining in and enjoying a hot pizza in those conditions. We ordered the double pepperoni pizza. It was amazing. What a surprise. The Detroit style lives on. The crust was crispy all around. The ingredients were super high quality. The sauce was perfectly tangy. The cheese was oozy and had the pull we all love on a pizza. We enjoyed the meal to the last bite. The shop was small and hidden but was soooo busy. There was a consistent flow of foot traffic's for being on the 2nd floor. Friday night to go orders were many and a few diners. The place does not have a restroom so maybe others knew better. I have been wanting to try this Asian family owned Detroit style pizza joint for some time, as it has always had a lot of hype around it. Unfortunately, it proved to not really be for my tastes. I will mention, as maybe this was an issue, that the day I chose to go was of course the odd day where they had some sort of "emergency" and didn't open their doors until hours after usual, so maybe their game was off. Located in a small Pasadena strip mall, the parking is on the side street and goes up to the second floor, which is where the pizza place is located anyway along with an Indian restaurant and a couple more businesses. The place is incredibly tiny, clearly meant for take out and not at all for dine in. There are three 4-people tables total and no bathrooms for customers. Went right when they opened and got a large Caesar salad, which was pretty good. The problem were the two four square pizzas. And the biggest trouble was the sauce, which is way too sweet in my opinion. I got the plain cheese and one with black olives and Italian sausage, which was more generous with the olives than the spare sausage. I didn't think it was anything special. Then again, I have been to the main places in Detroit and not been wowed there either. So, I was looking for something new and came across this pizza joint. Don't be fooled by their name, this place has probably one of the most delicious Detroit style pizza. Their 4 squares was more than what I had expected. 2 slices filled me up! Location is on the second floor, almost hidden but don't worry, to locate it, just walk west, towards lake st once you're upstairs, it's wrapped around the little brunch spot. Really amazing food! This is located upstairs at the corner of Colorado and Mentor, in what I like to call the restaurant corner (seriously, there are a ton of small Mom and Pop restaurants in that corner that you all should go check out!). So, I was impressed by the reviews and wanted something different to eat. It was my first time there and the employee behind the counter was just so nice and patient as he explained everything! I ended up getting the 4-slice pepperoni and a small Greek salad. Now, listen...their 'small' salad is rather big! Like it can easily feed 2-3 people. And the pizza 4-slice can easily feed 2-3. Another good time here. I'm a big fan of Detroit style pizza and this place did not disappoint. The player deluxe is always on point. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Hawaiian version. I also lowkey found the amount of cheese on my pizza to be slightly overwhelming, which I guess is a good thing for some people. It was just too much cheese for my liking. I also discovered that I am not a huge fan of deep dish pizza. The intimate location is located on the second floor of complex, and there are barely any visible signs so it made it a bit hard to find. I love the personal family photos of the owner on the wall; you can tell that their heart and soul went into making the establishment. It was good but it was missing something. That's when Michael gave me a sprinkle of Vi's spice blend to try and yup, that enhanced the flavor. In my mind, I was comparing this joint to Quarter Sheets (IYKYK). I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza and Michael's attentiveness plus our conversation. After trying Vi's spice blend I knew what I had to try next. My visit ended with Michael telling me he was going to roll out hot dogs for Memorial Day wknd so to come try them out. The Thursday before Memorial Day wknd I called to make sure they still had pizzas available and they were closed for an emergency. Today I finally made a return visit to sadly find out that Michael had passed away Memorial Day wknd. Fortunately, the recipes are written and his wife plus another angel are trying to keep this place going. So all of you reading this, please come and support this place, you won't regret it. Now for my meal today - the classic with pizza sauce. Yup, this was a better option than the double pepperoni because in addition to the crispy edges, this option comes with crispy pepperoni. This is pizza perfection - gooey cheese, crispy cheese-covered edges, crispy pepperoni and a good tasting crust. This is a good dupe for the Quarter Sheets pizza without the hassle and price of QS. This is a mom and pop establishment, there's no frills here but they do offer a very good pie. The service is also impeccable; despite the grief she must be suffering, Michael's wife still tended to each customer with a smile on her face. This is the type of place that you want to see thrive and survive in an already cut-throat industry. Parking is super easy. They have a lot in the back or just park at what was Rite Aid. Suggestions for Improvements: marinate the chicken in the BBQ sauce for flavor and to keep it moist. One of my favorite pizza spots. I discovered them a few years ago and love to visit when I'm in the area, which isn't often. I usually get the contradiction and my husband gets the pepperoni. The crust is extra crispy and tastes like Parmesan chips lol. There's a perfect ratio of toppings. They're located upstairs in the plaza on Colorado and Mentor. Detroit-style pizza is known for its rectangular shape, cheese crust/edges and the unique layering of ingredients. I tried the Santiglia pizza, which consists of pepperoni laid "under" the cheese, topped with green peppers, salami, diced tomatoes, Vi's Spice Blend, and a good drizzle of their chunky tomato sauce. My 1st time trying Detroit-style pizza and it did not leave me disappointed. What an experience. Not only was the cheese extremely flavorful, but YOU WILL get the CHEESE PULL effect. Speaking of the cheese, the cheese spread around the edges creates this caramelized, crunchy crust that tasted like cheese crisps. The pizza dough was soft, yet airy. The green peppers added a nice, fresh, crunch while the diced tomatoes gave it the juiciness. The thickness was perfect in that it held up to the amount of moisture from the tomato sauce. I dislike it when the pizza sags and can't hold up all the toppings on it. Owners were friendly, but they did look exhausted. There's a few tables inside to dine in, but most people get take-out. The day I went, it was in the 90s and they did not turn on the AC, so that made dining in a bit of a pain. I ended up asking for a box to take it out to enjoy in a more comfortable environment. I ordered pizza from there with extra cheese and sauce and after waiting a little under an hour it was completely raw. And I do mean RAW. When I called and spoke with the female manager, she has the gall to say "it's likely like that because you ordered extra cheese and extra sauce." I said "extra cheese / sauce has nothing to do with the dough not being cooked through. She refuses to give me a store credit or help at all since murdered through Grubhub. Unfortunately she is very typical of customer service these days. Don't give. Damn about the customer or good service or their reputation. And dangerous to give anyone raw food. If I had to have only one place to serve me pizza for the rest of my life, IT WOULD BE FUJI & VI'S! Its storefront is on the second floor of a complex with a humble amount of seating inside that, at first glance, may come off unassuming but be prepared to be WOWED by what this small mom and pop shop can deliver. My husband and I ordered by phone and was greeted by a sweet lady who took our order for an 8 slice cheese Detroit style pizza -- I later regretted not ordering more. Pick up was efficient and although we took it to go, by the time we took that first bite at home the crust of the pizza was still crispy and scrumptious and everything you'd hope for the crust of a Detroit style pizza that has been crisped by the fats/oils of the pizza pan. Dough and red sauce were both perfectly seasoned topped with gooey cheese that serves as a great contrast to the crispy crust. So sad that I have since moved out west and going back is a whole trek due to traffic but mark my words, I'm still planning on making a trip back out there to enjoy another (or rather few) slices! Fuji & Vi's is my favorite pizza place in Pasadena! Located on the second floor of a small plaza at the corner of Colorado Blvd and Mentor Ave, the plaza is home to several other great restaurants as well. I usually order the "create your own pizza", a delicious deep dish Detroit-style square pizza. The golden crust is always cooked to perfection, with a nice crisp. The sauce is flavorful and the cheese is perfectly melted with a generous amount cover every inch of the pizza. There's a few spots for seating inside, but not many and I prefer to order to go. Service is pretty fast too. read more
