You don't really see very many Marie Callender's around anymore. This is the only one I know of in the area. I grew up getting pies from the one in San Lorenzo. Plenty of parking here, we were seated pretty quickly when we arrived. Inside is still the same as ever, same nostalgic feel from my childhood. A very classic American style restaurant. We headed here for an early dinner. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered the key lime pie. My partner got the knife and fork chili cheese burger with tator tots. The tots were very crispy and nice. The pie was absolutely delicious. I would probably come back for the pie, might be nostalgia, but Marie Callender's makes a good pie. read more

I have only been here on several occasions to pickup pies. The location in South San Jose closed, so this is the only one. Ronnie and I only go for their chocolate cream pie but a few weeks ago, I held a retirement luncheon at work where I came to pickup lemon meringue pie and their double cream lemon pie. It's St. Patrick's Day, and I decided at the last minute I wanted corned beef and cabbage for dinner. I searched DoorDash, and the best option was Marie Callender's. The meal seemed expensive at first, but then I noticed it came with a small salad, side of cornbread and honey butter, and a slice of pie, so I decided it was worth the price. The corned beef turned out to be the best I've ever tasted. It was so tender and savory. I'm not sure if they serve it year round or just for St. Patrick's Day, but I hope I don't have to wait a year to order it again. Plus, the portion size was huge. The cornbread was kind of dry. It probably would have tasted better warmed up and with melted butter on it. I had a slice of apple pie for dessert, and while it wasn't amazing, it was decent. We visit Marie Callender's frequently and always enjoy our visits. The staff is always so nice and helpful! And the restrooms are always clean. We usually sit in Jenn's section, and she's the best. Our drinks are always full, and she even remembers our favorite pies every time we come in. The salad bar is still delicious, and the soups are always good too. It's an expensive pie but hey, I'm worth it C-; I tried to call them up at 5:30 and all I got was please hold from a live person and after 3 minutes, the phone would ring again and I got the same response three times!! so I just decided to go and take a chance that they still had some left as they sell out quickly. It was warm enough to see the steam rising, and it had a subtle sweetness that made it really delicious. Roasted Turkey Dinner Overall, it felt a bit salty to me. The cranberry sauce that came with it also tasted great when paired with the cornbread. Shrimp & Chicken Carbonara It was creamy, and the shrimp were nice and plump. It's been years since the last time I came here. The service was a bit slow from the start. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order and another 10 minutes to receive them. They did bring out cornbread as soon as we sat down. But unfortunately, it was on the dry side. I went with their mini pot pie, and it was good. Nothing special. We ordered some pies online for pick-up which was extremely smooth. The pies and utensils were all ready in their refrigerator packaged in a to-go bag ready for me when I got there. I bought the following: 1.) Whole Double Cream Strawberry Pie 2.) Whole Lemon Meringue Pie (only $13.99 for the whole month of April 2025) As expected, they were DELICIOUS. I was hoping for a good experience when I visited this restaurant, but sadly, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. We arrived about 90 minutes before closing, so perhaps that contributed to some of the issues. My fish dinner came with mixed vegetables that were extremely overcooked. The zucchini was translucent, the broccoli and carrots were completely tasteless, and most of the vegetables had lost all of their color. I was honestly shocked that they were served. The fish was just as bad. It was severely overcooked, making it extremely tough with a leathery texture. Our waiter was friendly and checked on our table several times, but when I mentioned twice that I was unhappy with my meal, there was little concern or effort to make things right. I'm 42 and used to go to this restaurant when I was little. It's been around that long! Back in the day, this place was packed. Always bustling with people and long lines waiting to be seated. But nowadays, the food is nothing like it used to be. And the decor probably hasn't changed since the 80s or 90s. It's rough. And typically the only people I really see eating are elderly folk. With all that being said, this is the only place to order pies. Their food may be questionable, but their pies are reliably delicious. Their pumpkin pie is infamous and their Dutch-apple is just as delectable! I'm convinced this establishment is open to this day due entirely to their pies! They do not disappoint. So while you wouldn't catch me eating a meal here, you will always find me ordering pies here. I came in to try one of their pies and ended with the banana cream pie. On the website, they had an option of whipped cream or meringue topping for the banana cream pie, but when I came in the only option they had was whipped cream, which was a total disappointment. They had said that they just hadn't made it for the day so I'm not sure if it was just a location specific thing or they don't even have that as an option anymore. we also signed up for the Marie E club for rewards and was disappointed to find that we couldn't use our five dollars off 20 on whole pies. I feel like they're most known for their pies so I wish I had more promotions around this. I don't believe I would ever come in here to eat their food, but maybe to try another pie flavor. read more

My in-laws got a mailer with various pie coupons on it for Marie Calendars and got a craving for the Chocolate Satin pie. We called ahead after dinner to make sure they still had one in-stock for the day and then went to pick one up for takeout. We ordered at the counter and used our $7 coupon, which felt like a pretty good deal (the pie is normally $27.99). Also, for every pie tin you bring back clean you get 80¢ back so we brought two tins with us that wife's parents still had). Service was friendly when we ordered at the counter, they only needed a few minutes to grab the pie and box it up for us. They have two dining areas and it is quiet inside. It feels on the older side. One dining area was empty and the other maybe half full, which seemed decent for a Tuesday 40 minutes before closing. The pie itself was very very rich. Smooth chocolate taste but even with my sweet tooth having what I consider a "normal" slice was too much for me! I prefer their apple pies! We do want to come back and try some of their actual appetizers and entrees - before this I had only ever had their pies before for Thanksgiving or frozen from the super market. Got seated right away and I would give the service 5 stars for sure! When I was a kid my family went here all the time. I remember the first time we saw a San Francisco burger. My sister ordered it. Watching her eat it was like watching a commercial. It was dripping dressing and juices and she was loving it. We all ordered it the next time we went. The pies of course are all amazing. Now a week ago I saw they deliver on Doordash. I ordered the SF burger. I asked for no pickles and extra sauce in bold type. My request was even on my receipt taped to the bag. Yet it arrived with no dressing whatsoever and extra pickles! Are the cooks trying to sink the last remaining store in the Bay Area or what? I tried it again this week and the fries were pale and limp. Upon arrival, I saw that it looked like a typical Marie Callender's that I remembered for years. Very nicely decorated with a super soup and salad bar, and a menu that brought back memories. Now the interior does show some signs of wear, such as the upholstery on the booths and chairs. Overall, the restaurant was kept very clean. I found the service to be excellent! Everyone worked as a team while our server, PEDRO-1, provided Superior Service! Now the food was a blast from the past. Chicken Pot Pie was just like I remember it. When I accidentally slid the seat cushion off the booth while scooting forward, I discovered decades of dust I didn't need to see. But honestly, who cares? Everything about this place is so comforting and makes you feel like you are at home. The service is amazing and the workers treat you like you are dining at home. We came during lunch hours so not busy at all. I remember this place having an unlimited salad bar so was excited that they still had this here. For about $9 you get unlimited soup and salad which is such an amazing deal considering all of the toppings they had. For starters, you get a free cornbread with warm butter which was amazing. It had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. For our entree we decided to go with the chicken pot pie which is hands down the best pot pie I've ever had and was just as good as I remembered. It was so flavorful and the breading was perfectly cooked into the bowl. This place just gives you warm and welcoming vibes with a sense of relaxation and comfort. I will definitely be returning when I'm feeling the need for comfort food. I also really loved how they kept the decor the same which gave it a nice homey feel. Ordered the prime rib for the first time for Xmas dinner, and I was nervous since it was the main entree feeding over a dozen guests at my home. I followed the instructions (and used a MEATER thermometer which made things so much easier) and it came out PERFECT and delicious. Be aware that it will look like a giant lump of coal coming out of the oven, but once you cut it open you'll see how perfect the meat comes out.
