I generally like the sandwiches here (great bread and house sauce), but they missed the mark the other day. I ordered the pesto turkey sandwich and 1. I'm not sure if there was even pesto on it, 2. the assembly was kind of sloppy so toppings were falling out left and right, and 3. they gave me two bottom sides of the baguette. I didn't realize until I was about half way through, after thinking that the bread felt a little thin and less flavorful than normal, and then we realized my boyfriend's sandwich had two top sides! From a service and ambiance perspective: the service is fine but I've gone twice where it's really hard to hear the staff because they are nearly mumbling. Most recently, we wanted to dine-in but all the chairs were lined up against the wall. I needed a quick lunch and stopped by Sourdough & Co. This was my first time trying this location. When I walked in, there was only one customer waiting for her order. Since I was having a late lunch, it wasn't busy inside. I was greeted by the staff and I let them know that I wasn't sure what I wanted and I needed a minute. I finally decided to get the 6" French dip sandwich and a small cup of clam chowder. I found a table to sit at and waited for my order. After 5 minutes, I heard them call my name. My order was ready. My sandwich was really good. The bread was lightly toasted on the outside and soft in the middle. There was a good amount of roast beef. The house spread was so flavorful and worked perfectly with the roast beef and melted Swiss cheese. The Au jus was also hot and tasted great after dipping my sandwich in it. The clam chowder was just okay. It was hot and came with two slices of sourdough bread. I ended up taking the soup and bread home. It's very spacious inside, with plenty of seating options. I walked in to order takeout and there was no wait on a weekday at lunch time. I wasn't expecting much but the turkey sandwich was actually really good. I got a 4 in size sandwich and it was crammed with turkey, lettuce,tomato, cheddar and condiments. I also got a small cup of clam chowder which had a good amount of clams and potatoes in it. Overall I was happy with the food here. I'm giving 4 stars just because it seems quite expensive for $24 for a small sandwich with soup. There's plenty of seating inside but it seems most people do takeout. A relatively new player in the sandwich game, to go up against the likes of Togo's, Ike's, Subway, Crust,Panera (to an extent), etc. A-okay IMHO. Regarding those chains, Togo's is my "go to" because of their thinly sliced pastrami. However, I still gravitate/prefer locally owned businesses like Roger's in Mountain View. What is nice about this company is that they offer a gluten free wrap option for a $1 upcharge. As a fellow Yelper mentioned, their sourdough bread needs a bit more "sour". While pricing is on par with other establishments, I feel the portions are a bit smaller. And, it's so tough to go up against Togo's Pastrami and Ike's creativity. read more

I don't go there as often as I used to. I like the food, but it's not cheap. You are getting something much better than going to Subway. Last Friday's lunch (Dec. 6): One French Dip sandwich, a 6" Turkey, two drink/chips (@6.99) came to 44.68 with tax and 5 percent city service charge, no tip. They're not just competing with other sandwich and burger restaurants, it's also the sit-down restaurants that offer a competitive lunch special (Chili's comes to mind). Sprouts Market deli has fantastic sandwiches too, however, the French Dip and Brisket sandwiches aren't on that menu. My husband compared the price on the French Dip to Adamson's down the street, (Adamson's French Dip IS still higher than Sourdough & Co. by one dollar). First time here on Christmas Eve. Not sure if we were hungry but the food was pretty good and we really enjoyed the sourdough. The sourdough was soft which complimented the clam chowder and tomato bisque. The sandwiches were delicious as well. Personally felt a bit pricey. Normally when I review, it's because of service and the service here was awesome! Suki (hope I spelled it correctly) was very kind and friendly to my toddlers. The other workers were kind and courteous to us as well offering to take finished food trays. The store was also clean as well with some Christmas decor. This was our first time here and she had lots of questions for us: what kind of cheese on our sandwiches, yellow or Dijon mustard, did we want our bread toasted or not (we got toasted). Counter workers are the ones that give customers their first impression of a place. Give this young lady a raise! Super friendly and helpful! We made our sandwiches meals with a cup of soup and fountain drink. The 4-inch roast beef sandwich comes cut in half and wrapped nicely in paper. The clam chowder was hearty but the broccoli cheese was a bit thin for the sourdough bowl and over powered it. I would get the clam chowder in a bowl again!!! My family tried the sandwiches, pastrami Reuben and the brisket. They tasted okay but they prefer Togo's :(. However, the Togo's pastrami is greasier so it's a toss up. This is their first South Bay location (Cherry Orchard Shopping Center next to Sweetgreens) and another nearby location is in the works in Mountain View. I was in the area so decided to give Sourdough & Co. a try. They're open for takeout, delivery (3rd party apps), indoor dining, and outdoor dining (3 tables outside). Order at the counter and they'll call your name when your order is ready. Staff wore masks. Note: Soup selection varies daily but clam chowder is served everyday. The sourdough bread seems to be baked elsewhere (pulled from a bag); probably from one of their warehouses. We've been checking out the signs for this building for a while, and decided to finally stop by as they opened recently. We ordered online, and we were able to make our selections and add in notes for customization. My husband ordered the brisket specialty sandwich. I think he was a little disappointed that it only came in the 6 inch size, but it was loaded with meat, so he was pretty full and happy with it. I got the turkey garlic pesto sandwich. It is a pesto aioli, not pure pesto, so the overarching flavor was of mayonnaise. I asked them to toast it, which they did, but I wish it would've been a little warmer, and more like a Panini. It did taste pretty good. I wouldn't say either sandwich was extraordinary, but we have yet to try the soups, so will probably be back again to decide if this is a place we will be frequenting. Even though we were given a 30 minute wait time when we ordered online, I got emailed almost 5 minutes after ordering saying that it was ready for pick up. Service of the staff when we went inside to grab our food was wonderful. As mentioned earlier, will probably try them out again, and see how it goes. Fresh ingredients with a variety of meat (and veggie) options on warm toasted bread all made to order - Sourdough & Co and the team here delivers! We ordered online ahead of pickup and the sandwiches were being wrapped up just as I stepped through the door - I'm immediately impressed with their timing and speed. I highly recommend the smoked brisket (thinly sliced) sandwich served warm - it comes with their house sauce and green chile coleslaw but it wasn't very spicy if you're concerned about that. And don't get me started on that bread! The sourdough is soft but toasted and crunchy on the outside and tastes so good! If you still have room for more I would also recommend their New England Clam Chowder which is served daily! It has a good ratio of potato, clam, and a few veggies like celery. Sandwich had barely 4 oz. of meat, too much mustard, which drowned out the meat and the thin slice of cheese (that wasn't even "soft melted"). And, where is the "sour" in their sourdough?! Service was inattentive, with 6 on Staff (2appeared to be owners ?) I shouldn't have to wait to order. I understand "Shrinkflation", but this goes way beyond gouging your Guests and offers no Value whatsoever over! You're better off going back to Subway! read more

What a rip off. I've noticed this chain popping up all over the place and thought I'd finally give it a try. It's my bad for not paying attention to the current prices on the menu and not cancelling my order when I realized how much my lunch was going to be. But it's also really robbery to charge as much as they do at what is basically a glorified Subway. I paid almost $30 (after tax) for a 6" sandwich (no extra-fee toppings) combo with a fountain drink and 8oz cup of soup. That's more than most sit-down, full-service restaurants after tax and tip! The sandwich (ham and turkey) was pretty good--the bread was excellent and they do seem to use slightly higher-quality deli meats than your normal sandwich chain--but it wasn't $30-good. The soup (clam chowder) was average. And the sandwich was very small. Sure, I knew it would only be 6" long, but I did not know it would also be narrow. They use bread the width of a baguette, rather than the wider sourdough rolls/loaves you see at pretty much every other sandwich shop. (See Rona B's pics--the sandwich literally fits in the palm of her hand. I wish I had seen her pics before going!) There was a surprising number of customers in the place when I went. I can't believe that many people are willing to pay those prices for what you get. Or maybe it was all their first time too. At least not wanting to return will save me the hassle of dealing with that cf of a parking lot. For sandwiches that are about the same price (or even slightly cheaper), but better and much, much larger, go down the street to Zanottos. This is the first I've had time to post. I visited this shop last Monday. This was my first...and likely my last visit. Ok let's start by saying the gentleman who greeted me was fabulous. The sandwich maker...not so much. She was nice, but definitely not paying attention. She missed putting things on my sandwich and had to be reminded & forgot my soup altogether. Let's get down to the food. The bread was fabulous. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Taste & texture with that fabulous light crunch a sourdough should have. I ordered turkey, avocado & Swiss with mayo & mustard instead of sauce & some olives. This is a standard for me everywhere. There was so much mayo I couldn't taste any mustard it was like gravy. There was an odd extreme salty flavor. So salty it seems as if they added salt to the sandwich like subway sometimes does if you aren't watching. I couldn't eat it. The clam chowder had a good flavor. It was a shame that it wasn't even room temperature. Yeah I got it to go but I was only going a few blocks. This soup was cold when it was put in the bag. So I guess what I'm saying is, for $32 a super salty turkey/swiss sammy & a cup of clam chowder should at least be proper temp & edible. The bread wasn't $32 good. This one was a fail for me. Food was good, but the service ruined the whole experience. Here are two issues. First, when I got there, there were no customers. The lady behind the counter was texting someone, and ignoring us. After about a minute, some door opened and closed in the back, and someone came to the kitchen, I think it was one of the owners. She quickly put away her phone and then came helped me. Kept me waiting for no reason. Second, she was wearing gloves, and when helping to approve the payment, she touched the keypad that customers use. She didn't change her glove even though I asked her to. She touched the raw ingredients. Customer's fingers can't be guaranteed to be clean, so now she contaminated all the bread and other ingredients. read more

It tasted fresh but it's not the best Cobb salad I've had (especially because there was no dressing). The chicken was thinly sliced chicken which was interesting, but not bad. The avocado was fresh! Overall, not bad. The bread was decent too but without butter or jam or something, I had a few tiny bites and was over it - I'm not wasting carb intake with dry bread.
