    New England Clam Chowder
    Diane W.

I needed a quick lunch and stopped by Sourdough & Co. This was my first time trying this location. When I walked in, there was only one customer waiting for her order. Since I was having a late lunch, it wasn't busy inside. I was greeted by the staff and I let them know that I wasn't sure what I wanted and I needed a minute. I finally decided to get the 6" French dip sandwich and a small cup of clam chowder. I found a table to sit at and waited for my order. After 5 minutes, I heard them call my name. My order was ready. My sandwich was really good. The bread was lightly toasted on the outside and soft in the middle. There was a good amount of roast beef. The house spread was so flavorful and worked perfectly with the roast beef and melted Swiss cheese. The Au jus was also hot and tasted great after dipping my sandwich in it. The clam chowder was just okay. It was hot and came with two slices of sourdough bread. I ended up taking the soup and bread home. It's very spacious inside, with plenty of seating options. The staff were also very friendly. I would definitely return for the sandwiches.

I had no idea Sourdough & Co. was even a thing! Excited to try this place out as sourdough is my favorite type of bread. I got a Clam Chowder Bread Bowl and I thought the food was okay. The chowder was standard, something you would eat at a buffet. I thought the bread was pretty good, although the whole meal felt full of carbs as the soup also had a bunch of potato chunks. I wish they had offered more soup than bread as I had a lot of the sourdough left over. Overall, this is an okay place for a bite. The bread bowl was $15, which was on the expensive side.

Great customer service greeted with a small as soon as we walked in. A very cute and comfortable place to have a sandwich. The brisket sandwich was amazing along with the French dip. The sourdough bread is delicious. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice fresh tasting food.

A relatively new player in the sandwich game, to go up against the likes of Togo's, Ike's, Subway, Crust,Panera (to an extent), etc. A-okay IMHO. Regarding those chains, Togo's is my "go to" because of their thinly sliced pastrami. However, I still gravitate/prefer locally owned businesses like Roger's in Mountain View. What is nice about this company is that they offer a gluten free wrap option for a $1 upcharge. As a fellow Yelper mentioned, their sourdough bread needs a bit more "sour". While pricing is on par with other establishments, I feel the portions are a bit smaller. And, it's so tough to go up against Togo's Pastrami and Ike's creativity.

I wanted to something different today so I tried this place for the first time. I was actually in my way to Traders Joes to buy just a small sandwich and salad when my intuition said let try this place next door. It was very clean looking inside. The bathroom was dirty. It isn't a cheap eat, but it is someplace I wouldn't mind spending my money on another visit. Fingernail in my sandwich.

Large fingernail in my sandwich! See photo. Understandably, I won't be ordering from here again.

$22.50 for 4" sandwich and smallest bowl of soup. Decent food but not in my budget.

It's all about the bread!!! Super tasty sandwiches. I recommend the French dip. All extremely fresh ingredients.

A Public Health Hazard Enforced by Incompetence…read more The lack of basic sanitary protocols at this Sweetgreen location is a stomach-churning disgrace. For a brand that markets "wellness," the execution behind the counter is nothing short of a biohazard. I witnessed an employee use the exact same gloved hands to tap the greasy payment screen, scratch her own face, handle raw food, and manipulate the plastic menu helper. She then dropped that menu helper directly onto the floor, picked it right back up, and placed it onto the food counter where active bowls were being assembled. When I intervened to explain the basic mechanics of cross-contamination, she just stared back at me completely blank and cross-eyed. What is the actual vetting process at this company? Is an IQ under 80 a strict requirement for employment here? The operational logistics are an absolute joke. There were eight distinct people wandering around the kitchen doing absolutely nothing, while one solitary incompetent was left to poorly construct the plates. Management was entirely nonexistent. Nobody was monitoring the line, nobody was enforcing health codes, and it was blindingly obvious that not a single person on that shift gave a shit about human health. I am genuinely praying I do not contract a severe foodborne disease from this place. This goes far beyond abysmal customer service. This is willful negligence. I am never returning, and I am filing a formal complaint with the Department of Health first thing in the morning to have this shithole inspected and shut down. Avoid this location at all costs.

ARE WE IN SILICON VALLEY? 4.5…read more One might never know this restaurant exists, tucked away near a Google business park just off Highway 101. You could stumble upon it through Yelp (as we did), discover it while staying at the adjacent Treehouse Hotel, or simply hear about it through word of mouth. The parking situation is an interesting one. After turning into the driveway from Mathilda Avenue, you have two options: turn right for valet parking or left into the Google parking lot. There are plenty of spaces available, though parking there is technically at your own risk. The restaurant told us they had not heard of anyone being ticketed or towed. We first dined here shortly after it opened in 2025 and were immediately impressed by the beautiful grounds. The hotel's eco-conscious gift shop, housed in a glass greenhouse and featuring a colorful vintage VW Bug, is a charming touch. The short walk to the restaurant feels especially relaxing on a warm, sunny day. This has become one of our favorite places to bring friends or host girls' lunches. With three distinct seating options: the dining room, bar, and patio, there's an atmosphere to suit just about any occasion, whether you're dining as a couple or gathering with a larger group. I would recommend visiting during lunch or dinner service and skipping the in-between hours. During that time, only the bar area is open and the menu is more limited. To fully experience what Valley Goat has to offer, lunch or dinner is the way to go. Despite the name, the only goat dish on the menu at the time of this review is the Goat Empanadas. My friend was initially hesitant to order them, but David, our wonderful server, and I encouraged her to give them a try. She was glad she did. There was no gamey flavor whatsoever; the meat tasted more like beef, and the accompanying sauce was excellent. Over several visits, we've enjoyed everything we've ordered and are delighted to have a restaurant of this caliber in our Bay Area backyard. Chef and co-owner Stephanie Izard, winner of Season 4 of Top Chef and an Iron Chef title, owns a total of nine restaurants, primarily in the Chicago area, along with locations in Los Angeles and one at Orlando International Airport. Since we enjoy traveling for great food, we'll definitely be adding some of her other restaurants to our list.

The service was quite slow throughout the evening. We ordered the goat empanadas, wood-fired Mary's chicken, sprouted cauliflower, eggplant, and sticky pork shank. What surprised me most was how similar everything tasted. From the appetizers to the main dishes, the flavors seemed repetitive and lacked distinction. Each dish looked appealing, but none really stood out. Overall, the food felt uninspired, and I didn't get the sense that much care had gone into developing unique flavors for the menu. Given the many 5-star reviews, I was expecting much more and left feeling disappointed. The ambiance is lovely, but I would not return for the food. Don't be misled by the photos, they were far more impressive than the actual dining experience.
