We weren't very excited about having "another" Mexican food place open in Alpine but after eating here tonight that feeling changed. We were quickly seated and our server immediately greeted us and took our drink order. We decided to get the pitcher of margaritas which gave 3 of us a full glass and about a quarter each. The margaritas were good and refreshing. We were served complimentary chips and salsa to munch on while we waited for our food to be prepared. The chips were fresh and the salsa tasted good with a bit of a kick which I loved. Everyone loved their food and cleaned their plates. I had the two taco combo platter. They come with beef or chicken tacos and you can pay extra for different types of meat. I ordered a beef taco and upgraded one of the tacos to barbacoa. The meat in both of the tacos were tender and very flavorful. I ordered no rice and all beans. The beans were delicious; some of the best I've ever had. I really enjoyed our first meal here and we'll definitely be back. I'd give them a solid 4.5 stars. Only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is the combo platters are priced right but some other items on their menu is overpriced, like the trio fajitas, guacamole... eat here.. it won't disappoint! read more

After hearing only good reviews I came here with the family and was not disappointed. Service was great and fast. Food was beyond amazing. The carnitas were so flavorful! We were all very happy with the food that we ordered that we order the fried ice cream to end a perfect meal. We can't wait to come back to try the margaritas this weekend. read more

Do not bother eating here if you want to substitute anything differently than the way it is described on the menu. While the food we eventually got tasted somewhat decent, trying to get it was horrible. We tried to ask for a substitution for our order, but the waiter insisted that his way would be better and brought what he thought we should have. We sent it back and requested a different substitution, and he was still arguing with us. We finally asked for something basic and simpler, which he was still unhappy to give us but at least was willing to do. read more

Absolute worst Mexican food I've ever had in my life. And that's hard to come by in San Diego. Ordered a carne asada taco but got an inedible shredded beef taco instead. Our qusadilla was dinky. The shrimp in our cocktail were rock hard and not edible. The taquitos taste like egg rolls and were RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. The portion sizes were pitiful and we all came away from our meal still hungry. And the most infuriating thing is it cost well over $80 for 1 combo, 2 rolled tacos, a shrimp cocktail, and a quesadilla with fries. Lesson learned. Never again. read more

Ordered a Carne Asada casadea yesterday. $12.95 which seems a little high for a flour tortia, a little cheese, and a small amount of meat. Came out colder than 2nd base at PETCO Park at 4:00AM on a foggy night. Won't be going back. Over priced and bad quality. read more

So I came here for lunch by myself while out and about on a drive. The place was empty so I sat in the bar. The bartender/server Herman was very short and had zero hospitality and personality. As a member of this industry that pissed me off. He asked me twice if I was eating alone as if to belittle me. I ordered and the very nice make host was the only one helpful and nice. The food was very good! But the service is crap, so I do not recommended this place. Herman also took forever to run my card when I was ready to leave and was very rude. This place blows! read more

My husband and I drove from La Mesa to have brunch here yesterday. We were curious what they had done with the building that we had always liked, The Alpine Inn. On their website they listed their "Father's Day special" as $16.95 off the Brunch. We asked the waiter about it and he didn't know anything about it so he asked the Manager. He told us the manager said they weren't offering any special. We asked to see the Manager and showed her the website using our phone. She said it was a mistake and that the other Marieta's had that special, but not the Alpine one, even though it listed the Alpine location. We went ahead and ordered because we were starving. The food was mediocre. The waiter was nice and attentive, but I am still bugged by how poorly the Manger handled it. She never came by to check on us or offer us anything. When I looked today the special is still on their website with the Alpine location listed. read more

Just opened and needs work. Food was slow coming out. Service was slow and also inexperienced. Maybe in time things will get better. Decor changed some from before when it was a steak house, but not much. bathrooms are still run down. Again, just opened and soap dispenser was empty, floor was dirty and smells funky! Plenty of parking in rear where the actual main enterance is. Be careful when it's raining. Floors slippery when entering. Not impressed at all. Maybe after a few months' if they survive, we'll try back again. read more

We usually go to the one in Santee but we decided to try this location. We loved it. It tasted exactly like the Santee location but the salsa had a nice kick to it. They have lots of half round, cozy booths. The food was delish. read more

I loved marietas! I had the three amigos fajitas and I honestly am not a big fan of shrimp but I absolutely loved the shrimp most of all. I also had a pina colada and if you love alcohol, you will LOVE their drinks. Unfortunately, I'm not a big drinker so I passed it off to my boyfriend.
