We are speeding a few days in the area and had a terrific dinner here tonight. We started with the summer dipping plate that was excellent. Two of us ordered the gnocchi. The red sauce was amazing - smokey and sweat. The gnocchi was very good and the accompanying meatball were excellent. One of us had a chef's salad that was also really good. We enjoyed the bread that came with the appetizer much more that the bread that came with dinner - which resembled garlic knots. Everything is homemade. For dessert we had a baked (fresh) berry tart that was quite good, although a bit doughy. Service was warm and professional. We dinned inside but the patio look really inviting. read more

I tour for a living and it's hard to find a bartender who knows what they're doin. After two weeks of touring trying to find a bar that knows how to make a solid Manhattan, I walked into Marilyn's and asked Josh how's his Manhattans...he gave me the look of "say no more". The website is very appealing. It advertised "upscale casual dining". I was concerned since I was visiting from out of town and had limited wardrobe options. I ended up going to the restaurant in a new pair of blue jeans and a nice shirt and fit in well on a Thursday evening. The decor is upscale. The food was good. My wife raved about the house salad. The bread basket was very good if you like salty spicy bread. (I do!) My Marilyn's Burger hit the spot. The fries were salty and just so so. Service was upscale. The beer selection was large, however, not a perfect fit for my Michigan craft beer palate. Prices were reasonable, therefore, another excellent yelp find. read more

The restaurant is situated on a busy street with lots of cars and pedestrian traffic. It is an end building with its own parking lot (albeit small, holds about 10 cars) and patio for dining al fresco. The entry is a large sparse space with a hostess stand and some seating for those waiting for a table. The dining room is underwhelming with dim light making it darker than it needed to be. The service is spotty starting at the hostess stand when my significant other and I were told it was a 40 minute wait for a table but another hostess came to the stand and we were seated in roughly 10 minutes. Our server took a long time to appear to make introductions and take our drink and appetizer order. We ordered fresh hot bread for the table with butter instead of olive oil. The bread was served room temperature and wasn't that good. My significant other ordered Marilyn's wedding soup, and burger with fries for an entrée. He loved the soup and enjoyed the entrée. I ordered Pan Seared Scallops with parmesan risotto. My meal was fine. read more

Let me tell you, I've always said bacon is the candy of meats, but JOHNNY'S CANDIED BACON will take this to a whole new level. Seriously it's like an awesome concoction of sweet, salty, and spicy all mixed together that will have you wanting more. The atmosphere is great here as well. Upscale with casuals welcome. We arrived on Sunday close to 1:30p. They were not busy at all. Our waitress was very nice but not attentive. We ordered our meal and I had asked for a side salad as I didn't get an appetizer though my husband did. Side salad never came and by the time I got my meal I no longer wanted it. She spent time cleaning up around us instead of tending to us. We sat with empty glasses as a food runner brought our meals. We had nothing to drink during our meal until I finally flagged her down for refills. She didn't look at my husbands glass and just brought my water. Had to ask for his refill and by that time we were done eating. Food is expensive and just ok, environment was nice, service wasn't the best. Steak was good but no seasoning. Seafood Alfredo was good but salty. Stuffed pepper appetizer was good per my husband. We also got salads to go for dinner. 1steak, 1chicken. Got home, no dressing. Not sure that we'd return. We had a really nice experience at dinner recently. Our server was very attentive. It was busy, but our food and drinks came out at the appropriate times. The setting is different. The decor is nice. There are tv screens everywhere for watching sports. But, it didn't feel like a sports bar. Our food was good. We had the Four Three appetizer and everything was good. I had the gnocchi carbonara. My husband had the seared scallops and that was exceptionally good. I even liked the Sunday salad and I wasn't sure if it would be my thing. Drinks were good. It is definitely worth trying and may become one of our favorites even though we live 30 minutes away in Morgantown. read more

What a delight to find a place nestled amongst the hills of SW Pennsylvania that delights the senses to such a degree.

Since it was Father's Day we made reservations. When we arrived, it was not extremely busy but there were a good amount of tables occupied. We stood at the hostess desk for a good five minutes before the hostess returned. Mind you, there was a bartender leaning on the bar, having a conversation with a patron, looking over, but never acknowledging us. This should have been our first clue as to how the rest of the evening would go.. We were finally seated and our waiter was there a few minutes later to take our drink order. Drinks came out fine and our dinner order was taken along with an appetizer order. We ordered the Wise guy dip which came out 20 minutes later. The cheese was melted on the top but the dip inside was barely warm. We were starving by this point so we just ate it. Our waiter returned twice to confirm our dinner order as he forgot what I had ordered , then forgot how my husband wanted his steak... After another 40 minutes our waiter stopped by to tell us our dinner would be out soon but they were out of asparagus...Ok, just bring me whatever is ready...Food finally arrived over an hour after we ordered... Although the taste of everything was good, it was completely cold. So much that the alfredo sauce was already dry and stuck to the pasta...My husband's $49 strip steak was mildly warm but cooked correctly. We ate what we could, as our waiter did not return for another 20 minutes. He apologized for the food being cold, said he would send the manager over but later returned stating she told him to offer us dessert. We paid our bill and took the rest of our dinner home. After reading reviews, I am not sure if they were just understaffed or there is a bigger issue but we will not return.. read more

Went for dinner last week and ordered their grilled salmon and quinoa. Salmon was ok....quinoa had absolutely no flavor. Tasted like they added no seasonings. Told manager who graciously offered to give me a dessert on the house. I declined (diet) Went back to give them a second chance and ordered their vegetable soup. It was off...tasted sour. We found them at the fair and OMG! do they make the best Gnocchi and Italian red sauce we have ever had! My Husband and I have been to Italy and their gnocchi was just as good if not better. We decided to try the restaurant they told us about on Main Street in Uniontown and were blown away by the service and the food. Jenn was our server and she is just delightful. We've been coming to Uniontown, from Pittsburgh, for years to visit family, but this is our first time here. Wow! The sauce is 3rd generation recipe and is absolutely amazing. Had the gnocchi and stuffed banana peppers. Absolutely delicious. One of the best Italian dinners I have had in a long time. Oh and I forgot to say that the garlic bread was fantastic as well. We knew we would be in Uniontown and did some research on restaurants in the area and based on their great menu choices for dinner my husband and I chose this place. When we arrived I was concerned about how dark the atmosphere of the restaurant was and wanted it to be brighter, so I would not need to use my phone for a flashlight. I expressed my concern to our server Justin. He agreed, and turned up the lights so it was brighter. He then went through the menu and made some great suggestions. Justin was warm and compassionate. We had a wonderful first visit. Our server, Ashley, was friendly, helpful, and attentive. She brought out fresh bread (garlic ciabatta) which was warm and delish! We tried the Chicken Gnocchi soup to start and it was great beginning; convinced us to order gnocchis next time. We had Knob Salmon and a Mushroom Pasta dish. Both were excellent. What we noticed was the freshness of ingredients; this wasn't precooked processed food reheated! The pasta dish was filled with various mushrooms types, all cooked perfectly, smothered in a Gorgonzola cream sauce that was rich and flavorful; no need of extra grated cheese. Salmon was flavorful and melted in the mouth; a wonderful kaleidoscope of flavors. We ended by sharing a tremendous 6 layer slice of carrot cake; it was fresh, covered with cream cheese frosting, nuts, raisins, and very good. My Wife and I stopped in on a Friday around 5:30 for early dinner after touring the FRANK Lloyd Wright houses in the area. No idea that reservations are usually required or that the place is hopping on Fridays. The hostess was great and seated us quickly. The waitress was equally helpful and we had a great fixing experience. The beans and greens appetizer flavored with bacon was pretty amazing. Entrees were equally impressive. Where to begin ? General Tso cauliflower was overcooked but the breading was undercooked and mushy. Overall disgusting. Overpriced candied bacon not really candied but merely dipped in a hickory sauce overpowered with the taste of RAW spice. Was told order would take 40 minutes and when I arrived it had apparently been sitting on the bar in take out boxes for a good 15 minutes and was cold. And this was after waiting at the hostess station for 5 minutes while the hostess and her friend discussed a box of cookies purchased by the friend and who and how much money was exchanged. We had a family party here. Allan was so easy to work with and accommodating. For catering we got the BBQ menu and I couldn't have been happier. It was a ton of food! The half chicken was amazing and juicy. We got Mac n cheese, beans, and pineapple upside down cake! There house salad is so great. We went for dinner a couple days before our event and everything was great. Portions are really big. I love the garlic bread they brought out. I'll be back! read more
